How old were you when you bought your first house?

Here, just to make it a little more fair I'll admit that when I was 19 we bought our very first foreclosed "property". It was a double wide mobile home that needed a little cosmetic work for only $24,000. It looked like a lot of work b/c the grass had grown up to the front door and there was junk everywhere. A good cleaning and new appliances took care of all of that. We sold that trailer a year later for $49,000. I would NEVER buy one again. Mobile homes give me the creeps b/c of the shoddy building materials, the terrible layout, and the insanely high costs of insuring them because they are absolute hurricane bait

However, they are ideal for those who have a lower income and need a short term living arrangement

Well, we don't close until May 24th (knock on wood). I will be 6 days shy of 23 and my partner will be 3 months shy of 22.

I would have guessed the average to be older than we're seeing here.

Our mortgage is cheaper than what we were paying to rent. By quite a bit. I think it is for a lot of people. We were also lucky to get a really good deal on our house and property.

We were 31. We got married at 26 & 27 and we worked and worked for those years before we bought that house. We had a big down payment and paid if off entirely in 5 years! We bought this house 9 years ago and paid it off a couple years back - but now we have a mortgage on the condo we bought for my parents.
