How old were you when you bought your first house?

I was 28 and dh was 29 when we bought our first house. We bought pre-construction for a fabulous price. We sold it last year for more than double and bought our current home, which we labeled the geriatric house, since the master bdrm is on the first floor we will die in this house ;) !

I think we were 24, don't remember exactly.

It was 167,000....we thought that was outrageous back then.

We are on our third at 32.

We were both 22 when we built our house, we bought our 10 acres the house is built on at age 19.

20 and we've lived here nearly 11 years and have it on the market. Cost us 32,000 when we bought it and we refianced it 7 years ago to 42,000 to have a roof and vinyl siding put on. It's a 3 bedroom, 1 1/2 bath on a nice corner lot.

We're currently looking for homes in the 170,000 range, 4 bed and atleast a 2 bath.....so housing here isn't too expensive :)

We were 22 and 25 when we bought the first, and 24 and 27 with our current home. Hopefully we're done moving for a while!

I bought my first home when I was 2 weeks shy of my 18th birthday.DH was 20. I was 16 when I married my DH and we're celebrating our 35th wedding anniversay this coming November!

I was 24 and DH was 26 when we bought the land that WE built our house on. The cost of our land alone was increased 5-6 times what we paid almost 3 years ago, with a house on it, it's worth more than the cost of building it. Not a bad investment. Is this the house that we'l remain in, who's to say as we are still young and finishing our grad/PhD work. But we'll keep it for vacations as it's on the beach.

DH was career military so we didn't buy our first house until we were 38 and 39.

I was 19, he was 23.

We bought our house in May and we were married in October.

We were both 20 when we bought our starter house which he lived in for 7 years. It cost us $50,000 in 1990. We purchased our current home in 1997 for $180,000 and it is now valued at $378,000 (after only 8 1/2 years :woohoo: ). We hope to get "oldy and moldy" in this house. I hate moving :yay:

I was 25, dh was 24. We thought we'd move sometime around this year or next, as this is a starter, but we're pretty much priced out of everything bigger around here, even with the equity in our home!

For comedy relief, I would like to add what I paid for the house 13 years ago and what I can get for it today.

I paid pre-construction price of $134,900. Today I can get $400,000 without blinking an eye. But I don't think I will sell because if I wanted to get a bigger house I would have to pay $600,000. I don't want to borrow anymore money then I have to.

DH and I bought our first house, and also first house for both of us, in 1999 when I was 25 and he was 23. We have friends who are the same age ie early 30's and they are still living at home as they are struggling to find a property cheap enough to afford the repayments on! It is scary really how much houses have gone up in the past 7 years around here.

Claire ;)

I was 25, DH was 26. We've lived here since then (13 years.) Our house is now for sale and we're building our dream home and we're 38 and 39.

I am 24 and DH is 26. We close on our first house towards the end of the month! :teeth:
