I bought in when I was 27 years old and my daughter was 6 at the time. To me life is about making memories. I don't have a ton of debt, only things I consider "necessary" debt (house, car, student loans), and no huge credit card balances. I paid off the first contract recently and then did an add-on at AKV and find that I have more than enough points. It was well worth the purchase, we have used it in Florida as well as at Disneyland in California and may be using our membership at Paris Disneyland in the future. The way I look at it, with one 50 year contract and another that's 42 years I will be able to enjoy my membership during the prime of my life and take full advantage, as well as provide a place to stay when my daughter is older and has children that will want to go see Mickey. I'm glad I bought fairly young, you never know what life will send your way, live it while you can!

Bought SSR 3 years ago me 48 DH 48. Just this year we bought at Grand Villas. We don't travel to WDW much.. Too costly to fly, but we make the 6 hour drive and use our points at DL.. We love it, I too wish I done it YEARS ago when I first saw it. We had 6 children at the time, and it would have been so nice...But we are making up for it now. oh... we still have 6 children but 3 of them are married now.. So now looking forward to trips with our grandchildren

I bought in 2 years ago when I was 21 years old and my soon to be wife was 24. Paid half in cash and financed the rest. Am I the youngest one here?

I was 30, DW was 27. We have DS8, DS2, and DS11months! We both have great jobs and live in an area where housing is very affordable... Being so young we only have 155 points... 30 BWV resale and 125 BLT! Add on over the years Im sure!

56 and 59. These 6 years of ownership have sped by for us, and we've enjoyed them all!

We are both 24. Just bought a very small resale at OKW a couple weeks ago, and anxiously waiting for the closing documents as they should be coming any day now.

My biggest wish is that my wife could have been alive to see our kids in Walt Disney World.

Sorry for your loss. It's nice that gave your children the World, you all deserve some happiness. Best Wishes and a little pixie dustpixiedust:

DH and I bought last November about 6 months after we got married. We were both 31 and paid cash.

We'd been going to Disney a couple times a year for a few years. WDW was the first real vacation I made DH take and he got hooked and we've been back every year since then, twice a year the last 3 years. We'd been thinking about DVC for a while, but really wanted to be on the monorail and wanted to wait until we were finally married before purchasing any more joint property (already had our house). BLT was what finally got us to buy. We found out in May that we're expecting our first little one, so we're happy to have our DVC to raise our little boy the right way - at WDW! :rotfl:

We only bought 160 points, but after 2 trips so far just using our developer points, we're likely to buy more in the next couple of years - as soon as we get to the point of borrowing points from the next year most likely!

They say, "ignorance is bliss", well in the case of DVC, that's just wrong. We were members from '02 (had we'd known the 'secret') we would have been members a lot earlier. Bought in when I was 52, wifey 49.

I bought when I was 24 - I'm 25 now. I bought right around the time I got engaged. So it was right before I started planning for my wedding and bought a house. I had been working for a couple years and was living at home so I was able to build up a lot of money so I paid in cash. I then figured that whatever I had left, could go towards the wedding and the house, instead of waiting until afterwards.

I think that was the best decision I made to buy before I started putting tons of deposits down on the wedding and before buying my house. Plus, since it was before I was married, I didn't have to check with DH first, since it was my money and not our money! And we were able to buy a great house (just closed last week), and don't have to worry about paying off a DVC loan as well as our mortgage!

Just thought it would be interesting to see when most people bought in to see if we are a rarity in DVC.
Looks like you're not a rarity at all--if the 45+ category were broken down to 45-55 and 55+, you'd see the 30-35 category with a big majority. We were 47 when we bought, wish we'd bought a few years earlier when the kids were younger.
