How old were you when you bought DVC?

We own 601 points and I'm pretty sure we were 22 and 26. We now have a 2 1/2 week old daughter at ages 25 and 29.

Congrats on your new baby daughter! I remember reading your wedding TR years ago. You were such a pretty bride. 601 points, wow! You go girl! Enjoy that baby, I know you've heard it 1000 times already but they do grow fast. Enjoy every moment.

As for purchaing our points, I was 37 and DH was 36 when we bought our first contract through DVC. Financed it and paid it off about a year later. Added on twice and we financed those as well and will pay them off early as well, in a year or two. Our kids were 6 months old and 3 years old when we bought in, we have enjoyed every second of our membership with them. I wouldn't trade it for anything!

We bought in at 34 and 36. We were DINKS and financed it, and had it paid off by the time our DS arrived. It was one of the BEST things we ever did.

This was way back in 1996. We are actually among those who can say we are glad we bought when we did.....we did the tour at Vero right after it opened. We LOVED the idea of staying in larger accommodations and being able to bring family with us. After decades of going to WDW, we knew we weren't going to stop anytime soon.

So the following weekend we went to Orlando and toured Boardwalk and Old Key West. Once crunch through the numbers and we could see it made sense for us. Then we signed up!

One thing that did help at the time was they had dropped the number of points to 150 to buy in. That brought the price down below 10 grand (at the time).

I wince to see how much points are going for now, and am SO glad we bought way back when we did. We used up every point, but we aren't drowning in them and travel elsewhere as well every year.

My Wife and I were both 35. We were emotionally ready 5 years earlier but our bank account wasn't ready for the commitment.

Basically we'd been so many times and every tiem in better and better accomodation, we bought DVC as a way of upgrading our accomdation without paying the earth. We love it, and have just bought 100 extra points at BLT.

We were 43 and 46 with DKs of 15,13 and 11 when we brought DVC in 2001. Wish we had done it sooner. We brought 350 points at the time because we wanted enough for a 2bdrm during President's week (none of the 1 bdrms took a family of 5 at the time) because that's when we were going to get away from the cold and snow for a little bit.

Now we don't really go as a family anymore but we share the points with the kids. All of us have gone on a vacation the last 2 years using points - but we had to borrow some from our next use year to make it happen. I have addonitis really badly but have to wait till our financial situation stabilizes again this economy has creamed us. I lost my job and my DH took a 20% reduction. We were able to get a break from the stress for only the cost of airfare - which was less than $300.00 for the two of us (I got a great deal and I have to eat where ever I am so food doesn't count as an expense we didn't do any big expensive meals so I didn't spend more than I normally budget at home). Being able to regroup was the best thing we've done for ourselves

Buying DVC was one of the best things we've done - we don't worry about the quality of the hotel we stay at it's run by Disney and they aren't going to risk their reputation by offering substandard rooms. We have recouped the cost for us already by the number of times we've gone and the accomodations we've been able to get.

I just wish we had done it 10 years earlier - but ....

Me- 28, DH-41, right before we had dd. Now we have dd3, ds1, and hope to add one more baby. We bought sight unseen. I just happen to research how much a disney trip would be when I was preggers and was shocked. Then I found dvc and we bought and have loved every minute of it!!!

I am usually very frugal and don't like big purchases, but this was one purchase that I never had a second thought about. I looked at it as an investment in my family.

I was 52 and my DH was 55. Our son and daughter were both out of college and married, starting their own families. Since then they have both become DVC members also and we have had many vacations all together. I do wish we had bought it sooner though.

I was Just 21(birthday was 3 days prior) and my DH was 26 when we bought in 12yrs ago. We were on our honeymoon when we bought in. We were overwhelmed by the Disney spirit we knew it was something we were going to do every year and heck we just spent thousands on a wedding what's another 10 grand. It has definitly been the one thing our family always look forward to every year.

Me 51, DH 51, DS 19, DS 17. We just purchased this year. It took them building BLT to perk our interest. We have spent the last 20 years touring the world on vacation and were ready to spend more time in the USA. It also helped that we moved from LA to Dallas to Michigan to Maryland, and the great Southwest fares fro BWI allow us to pop down to Orlando on a more frequent basis.

My wife and I were on our honeymoon when we bought at SSR (ages 35/33).

I guess an unofficial side poll from this one has been about financing DVC , and we vote not debt free . We have a mortgage, 2 car payments, a couple credit cards (including Disney of course), halfway through the 10 year financing on SSR, added VGC and BLT last stay, and we have fairly average jobs to pay for it all.

We were visiting once every 1.5-2 years until the add-on, and the joy we have received from our DVC has been absolutely priceless!! In these short 5 years, we have hosted our friends from Colorado, friends and family in Florida, friends around the country, and all have had magnificent stays. We are looking forward to hosting my wife's parents this winter at WDW and her sister's family at DL this summer (a dream for DW). Our daughter is spoiled, as she has only known on property stays in a 1BR,and we are grooming a future Disney fanatic .

DVC is one of the best decisions we have ever made, as we have received so much happiness to easily outweigh the extra costs.

DW and I are both 35 and purchased last year. We purchased enough points for us to have 2 vacations a year. Then, Disney changed the points and we can now only take 2 vacations every other year. If I had known the points were going to change that quickly, I may not have purchased. If you have to finance, then it is not a good deal.

I had just turned 30 and DH (fiance at the time) was 32. We used our honeymoon money as our down payment and booked our honeymoon using the Bonus/Incentive points that we received. We had been every year - at least once a year before that so it was really a no brainer for us. We bought 200 points to start out, and we're likely to add-on points sometime in the next few years.
