I go to Disney yearly, I did a tour for the Villas at GF last year because it was within walking distance (we always stay at the GF). Wondering when we go back for our yearly vacation this year if I can tour again and receive the $50 gift card? Is their a "limit" so to speak could I technically your every year from now on?

Thanks guys

Disney tracks who tours, who your Guide is, your rating as a potential buyer and what you were given as a gift.

They are in the business of selling and don't want to waste their time on lookers or people who are not serious about buying.

Depending on several factors you may or may not get a tour and/or a gift.

They weren't giving away $50 when we went on the tour on June 23rd. They were just giving away 3 V.I.P. fp+.

I believe they told me you can tour and get the gift once every 18 months or if a new DVC is for sale I think you can tour again early.

I had an option of the $50 or FP's it was our last day so I took the gift card. Wasn't fond of the sales men we were paired with. In the parks when we made the tour reservation it promised it would not be stressful or pushy. Well we got their a few days later and it was pushy and aggressive. To the point my fiancé walked out of the room, it felt like going to a used car lot. Shame I am stuck with this guy apparently, they will never get a contract out of me if that's the case.

Thanks for the info about every 18 months or new property I'll ask about a tour, compensation, and changing sales men in December.

We didn't get the same salesperson between our tours but of course it was 3 years between tours.

Who was your tour guide if you don't mind me asking? If you want a different rep ask for a different location. I know ours works exclusively at the GF tours and we weren't found of him to much either.

We were seriously considering it and asked him to give us a week. He called once and my DBF told him we needed just another day to sit on it and discuss. Well the rep called the next night at 7pm. We thought that it was an inappropriate time because it was dinner time so we let it go to voicemail. After that I got an email from him saying thank you for checking us out and sorry you won't be joining the family. DBF called and they guy said his policy was that if he gets voicemail after being told someone needs more time then he just assumes it is a no and writes it as such in your file. We were like well then we were about to cut the check but now we will wait since you just assumed it was a no. He lost out big time since I think they get bonuses and we were about to buy 200 points. We decided for us a vacation home in Orlando and APs would be more worth it since we also go to Orlando for non-Disney vacations and have friends who could maintain and rent our home when not in Orlando.

Most people who say I want to think about it should not be buying anyway. DVC is a BIG purchase that should be thought about over a long period of time. You should not take the plunge based on their pressure or over a single day of thinking about it. So it seems that the agent was just moving on. Agents work almost entirely on commission. I don't see how this is a bad thing as you clearly needed more time. It's not like the agent said "You're slow, I will no longer let you buy EVER Ahhhh hahahha!! " ;)

Best of luck :surfweb:

We had been thinking for 3 years. We just wanted the extra day so that we could finish talks with our financial advisor. Also I know he wasn't saying we can't ever buy but the tactic seemed like he didn't care any more once you are off property. Maybe that is just me but we never said no and I don't think one more day is such a terrible request.

Disney has experience selling hundreds of thousands of contracts, they pretty much know what you will do before you do. In their experience, the closing rate on people who "need to think about it" is poor. You may do a search on the internet, find out about resales, decide that it's too much money after the excitement wears off.

Disney wants to sell, they don't care to who. It's all numbers, it's a game, they make you feel special and you buy. As soon as you are out the door, they are selling to someone else.

As long as you understand the relationship, you can better position yourself as a buyer. Sometimes buying direct makes sense, sometimes it doesn't.

If you want to buy, an want to buy direct, just call and explain. Wouldn't hurt to be specific about who it was and why you need someone new. They should know the reasons people are feeling pushed away. I won't buy anything from a pushy salesperson, and I tell a pushy salesperson at the moment so they have a chance to stop.

Our DVC guy was awesome. The opposite of pushy. Said he would be waiting for us. An 2.5 years later when we called, was waiting and happy that we called! Of course, he's not with DVC anymore, so that's sad.

You said the next day, he called late on the next day. I can see why he thought you weren't buying, if I look at it from his POV. And then you didn't buy DVC at all, were happy with something totally different, so ultimately it sounds like that was the best decision for you, yes? If we had had a pushy salesperson it wouldn't have pushed us from DVC, but just to a different salesperson.

But remember the salesperson is someone you will most likely deal with once and then never think about again. So if the product is what you want and you want to buy direct, shunning it altogether because of a salesperson (that can be changed) seems an odd decision to me.

We didn't shun DVC because of the salesman just him. We were still thinking about it even after he sent us the so sorry you won't be joining the DVC family. It was only after about 2 weeks (so a few days ago really) that we decided it just isn't for us for now. We looked at dues plus the buy in cost and realized we could buy a house for that much and even make some extra income.

So he was right :thumbsup2

That assumes they don't make changes in their approach. IMO DVC is not very good or efficient at selling timeshares

In the big timeshare world DVC is never truly aggressive comparatively speaking but some more than others, obviously you got the some. I'd suggest you never do a non DVC timeshare tour if this bothers you.

When we did our tour in May, we got the $50 giftcard and the 3 Fastpass +'s. We felt a little pressured as well, and I also made a comment to my husband saying that I thought our guide seemed like a car salesman. We came home and started looking into resales, and now just waiting on our closing documents!

We had an amazing agent in 2011 and I am almost 100% sure she is still there (received an email not too long ago). She also was the opposite of pushy and I would buy again from her in a hot minute - sadly, DH has pretty much kiboshed to idea of an addon from now til eternity. If it's allowed on here and if anyone needs one, I'd be happy to answer a PM with her specific name!

I am just wondering out of curiosity where can you find a 2br/2ba townhome or condo near disney for under $35000? You mentioned you were looking to buy 200 points direct correct? Also the maintenance fee on 200 pts would run at the most $1200 a year. The costs for electricity, water, cable and other expenses for a year would be well over $100 a month.
I am here in orlando right now and have not found anything close to your purchase price. Also with the monthly expenses it would be way more than dvc. Is there some secret realtor organization that has cheaper homes than the current orlando area?

We aren't looking at just the buy in price. We have also factored in rental payments from a few tenants we already have lined up. There is no realtor organization to get cheaper homes but when you are looking at a Vacation Home/Investment property you can spend more up front and make some when you aren't using it.

DBF already is doing this in a ski town in NY and works for his family's company that owns rental property in NYC and Boca Raton, FL so it wouldn't be a foreign concept for him. Plus we already have two tenants lined up that are people we trust and a really close friend in the area that manages his own rental property so we would use him as the local base.

It will be a lot more upfront than 35k. Also your monthly carrying costs would be a lot more.
Also you are comparing apples to oranges. For the people that vacation a week or two a year in orlando a vacation home would not be ideal. Not everyone wants or can be a landlord.

I was talking about why in my situation it would not work for my family. I didn't say that this would work for every single family or individual who wants DVC. I simply was pointing out that after much considerations (3 years plus the week after our 2nd DVC walk through) we decided a rental home would work much better for us. In another thread about DVC I even said it may work for some families but there are also other options like the route we are taking.

We aren't one or two weeks a year visitors. I do at least 3 runDisney events in Orlando every year, we go for our birthdays, and at least one during Halloween and once during the winter holidays. We also go when we are just bored and have a free weekend.

As I pointed out we don't just go to Orlando for Disney either. I lived in Orlando for a few months so some of my best friends are in Orlando and one of DBFs best friend moved there several years ago. So we go down just to hang out with friends just like they come up to NYC.

Your post makes it seem like you can buy in orlando for 35k(your previous post said you were buying 200 points). Thus my comment on comparing apples to oranges.
Sorry I did not get to read your post in another thread. I was just reading this thread.
