How noisy will a room right over Evolution be?

we were in 6690 and we heard the base from evolution every now and then.. more so in the bathroom!

yes, i will post some of 6690 when i have uploaded them to the computer

Thank you VERY much! I look forward to seeing your pictures and thank you for answering me. I greatly appreciate it!

no 6690 is not that loud, only a minor annoying thump.
funny if you step out on the veranda and close the door, you hear nothing

my comment was that the deck 5 rooms, are like the Magic/Wonder deck 2

yes I have pictures, but don't have an account to host them

Thanks so much! I appreciate your letting me know.

I just found out about it for sure last month. I had heard people say it but when I book a room on the Magic I book where I know I will be happy. I can't do that with the Fantasy and told my TA that was one thing I was nervous about with booking the MV if it turned out that the room I booked got horrible reviews. (Luckily we are in one of the few good rooms listed on deck 5 forward on that warning list.) She told me how the system worked. Last week after the cat we booked increased $1200 along with every other cat I went into my reservation and tried to modify the room cat to see if that was the case. I was happy to see that was exactly what I saw listed for each of the other cats I looked at.

The fact that they got a refund shows this happened for you too. After last week's rise in prices for most cruises if the price wasn't locked in you would have had to pay more. Glad you were able to find them a room in a more desirable area. :thumbsup2

Wow! Good to know. We are crusing on points so not switching our 6B connecting aft rooms but my sister and her familiy are paying cash on two inside rooms so will keep checking prices. Thanks.

We were booked in room 5184 for the March 10th cruise, which is portside aft, right above Evolution. I thought our cruise was fully booked but I managed to upgrade to deck 9 yesterday! :thumbsup2 It may not have been a huge issue, but better safe than sorry! Thanks for starting this thread!

No problem. I hadn't even considered this possibility at all until I started reading the stateroom reports.:sad2:Most likely we are going to have to upgrade to a Cat. 5. Darn!:rotfl2: I keep checking in case something else comes up but so far it's either Cat. 5 or greater or a GTY 8A.:confused3

This is a nightmare. We are booked in 5178 in May, full cruise, for my sisters wedding. We have 6 rooms. Airplane reservations are all non refundable and booked. Everyone but the bride and groom have kids. We are locked into the dates and apparently locked into the rooms.

Which date in may.

We have 5 Category 8 rooms and 1 category 5 for May 8th. The bride said she would be okay if we separated, we are all together now, as long as we stayed on Deck 5, or aft Deck 6 or 7. I contacted our TA, but its just not looking good.

I stayed in room #5190 on the MV of the Dream. Yes, you can hear the bass from Evolution. I seriously don't remember any trouble with vibrations. The noise did not prevent us from getting a full night's sleep any of the four nights of the cruise.

I'm booked in the same room for the MV of the Fantasy! Loved the location and the verandah!

My awesome TA was able to move my room to Deck 6. She had to really work it. And she said I may continue checking the Disney site for the rest of the party and if I see something open up to call them. BUt they can't switch anymore of us anywhere. So I will look into how you do that and keep checking for everyone.
My sister, and bride's future sister in law would not give up their connecting rooms with the grandparents so they are in a really tough spot. Not a lot of connecting rooms on the ship period. But I am just a stairway away from the wedding party and 2 stairways away which is a good thing from Evolution. I was straight up about the noise reports to the other families and they declined being separated, so I feel good about my luck and I feel fair to them. Initially they had 2 available Deck 6 rooms not connecting that I offered to the other guests in my party and they declined.
I do remember on our first trip on the Wonder the night clubs were dead at midnight, so hopefully things will settle down for all.

I'm in #5666 in October. I too, was very excited to not have to deal with that long "The Shining" hallway like on decks 6-10. Now, I am concerned about having a room over Evolution, but I'll wait and see how the reviews go over the next few months.

Like this.......on Deck 7......redrum.....

Just got my parents 9a GTY stateroom number after they downgraded from the 8d deck 5 aft they had...it is 7000. So, the gamble worked on the sold out ship. Smaller stateroom, but what we had hoped for, way way way away from Evolution! Plus, since we are in 12000, we will both be forward now so it will be easier to get to each other. Very pleased!!!! :goodvibes

I just got a response from my DU TA and can't move us unless I want to spend more money. :sad2: Not really an option, spent more than I wanted, because I really want a verandah. We aren't light sleepers, so hoping the noise and vibration wont be too bad. :scared1:

I have yet to tell my family about this situation. Just wonder if I should. I mean there is nothing really they can do. Other than compensate those affected with a horrific nights sleep.

It might depend on when you are sailing. We were on the Wonder over Thanksgiving 2009 and by 11pm there were few people about the ship. Those adults out were sitting quietly at the piano bar and other bars. Dance place was empty and quiet. It will be interesting to continue to hear back from folks on Deck 5 aft.

I have a happy update on our situation. I kept looking at the DCL site and all they ever showed available was Cat 5 and greater. I finally decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to one of those and contacted my TA. She was able to find us another Cat 8D on deck 6!!:woohoo: We are now in room 6674. So don't give up hope if the DCL site does not show availability.

So glad to hear that you were pixiedust:

I'm so tempted to switch to 5650 just for the huge veranda but I'm so afraid we'll get noise from Evolution. We have a room on deck 7 booked but when my husband saw the size of the veranda for 5650 he fell in love with it. Now if I switch and we get that crazy noise I'll never hear the end of it from him.
