How noisy will a room right over Evolution be?

I don't think an Ipod is going to cut it. Someone I know who just sailed in a 5 aft equated the boom beat and vibration from the music to a dinosaur from Jurassic Park running thru their cabin.

I admit I was disappointed they omitted the Nav Verandas(which are aft) from the new ships, that is by far our favorite cabin on the M & W. Now, I'm very glad our cabin is midship on the Dream.

We're booked on the March 3 sailing in 5174. I was mildly concerned when I read the stateroom report for the Deck 5 aft room. I even went so far as to call DCL yesterday in an attempt to change my stateroom assignment (laughable, I know) and was told our cruise is fully booked. Now, after reading this thread, I really don't know what to do. I will be cruising sans DH with my DS (10) & DS (7). Thankfully, my boys are heavy sleepers. I, on the other hand, am so not. Maybe I need to snag a few Ambien! The Disney agent did tell me that if I have a problem, once on-board, to go to Guest Services. And what is it they can do? :confused3. Trying not to stress about what I can't control, but need some encouragement. :cheer2:

Don't worry - we were on the Maiden in 5192 and we loved that room! You are at the end of the rear hallway, so there's no foot traffic past your door. The veranda is HUGE and shaded. The laundry is right across the hall (was so convenient for us to dry a few things & I never saw anyone else in there). Yes, you will hear the bass from Evolution until closing time - on the MV that was 2 AM. But honestly, after the first night when we both said "what the heck is that", we never thought about it & it did not keep us from falling asleep.

We liked this room so much that as soon as we got home I tried to change our Fantasy MV to this room - but it was unavailable.

Thanks so much! This makes me feel better. I am cruising with my friend and celebrating her birthday so we may be in Evolutions til closing anyway. I'm going to keep the rooms.

I went ahead and put in a quote for a package at the Beach Club in May. Don't just know what we will do yet, but if we have to forgo the Dream this year, SAB is the only pool that my daughter will want to be at.

Oh wow, I just booked 5658, which is really close to evolution too. :sad2: It is right over the restrooms so maybe the noise won't be so bad. I guess if it's really bad I'll have to stay out until it stops. :cool1:

I can forsee Disney will have many, many complaints about these staterooms.
Who knows, these particular staterooms may have some changes coming to them if enough people complain. Maybe they will use this input on the Fantasy for the better. I am just broken hearted right now as I really don't know just what we are going to do. :sad2:I have'nt even told my family yet, I am going to wait on the quotes from a certain TA for the Beach Club in May.

See - it just goes to show that everyone has a different experience. So glad you enjoyed the room and the Cruise.

We just spent four amazing days on the Dream. It is everything wonderful you have already read about and more. Except for the cabins above Evolution. If you like to get to sleep before 1:30 AM, you will have a problem. They are supposed to be open until 2 AM, but the noise quieted down between 1 and 1:30 each night. The bass vibes are unacceptable to say the least. Earplugs helped some, but white noise will not block the bass vibrations. I talked to Guest Services on the first "morning after," and they DID offer to move us (the ship was not fully booked.) We stupidly declined because we had already unpacked and didn't want to have to go through the move. BIG MISTAKE...but we made it, and take responsibility for it. I spoke with Guest Services again (the Manager this time) on our last day and STRONGLY suggested that they warn passengers that these are "night owl" cabins and should be labeled as such...and re-categorized at a lower price point. I can't say that the lack of sleep ruined our cruise - but we slept later than we wanted to and were more tired each day. Don't cancel your cruise if you are in this cabin. Go immediately to Guest Services and see if they had any cancellations and request a move immediately - before you unpack - before you go to make any dinner reservations. There are usually some last minute "no-shows." If they can't move you, you will survive and still enjoy the cruise. I did get to see a few extra movies on the TV while waiting for the vibes to stop! My husband wears a C-PAP machine and managed to get to sleep a little sooner than I did. The Guest Services Manager sent two very nice gifts to our room that night, I think, because I kept my cool and was very polite when I spoke with him. YOU WILL STILL ENJOY YOUR CRUISE!!! AND YOU WILL ENJOY THIS HUGE CABIN WITH ITS WONDERFUL FULL-VIEW WINDOW. Maria was our gracious Cabin Host and will help you all she can.

we were on deck 6 (6690) and you could hear evolutions

I would guess these rooms are like those deck 2 on the classic ships under the night club.

How loud was it on Deck 6? We're in 6670 and 6672 on the Fantasy in 2012 and still have time to change to deck 7 or 8 if need be.

They won't be able to move everyone. Theres no way. And by the time our cruise gets here, this problem will probably be well known and everyone booked in that area will be rushing to Guest Services to get moved.:scared1: I'm sure Disney had thought of this when putting these cabins right over the night clubs, but they did'nt care. The bottom line was more important. I am going to tell my family sometime this weekend. I know my in-laws would be furious not getting to go to sleep until after 1 or 2 am. I will be too. We have two cabins on deck 5 aft and the chances of them getting to move us together I know are slim to none. I am going to let them make the decision as to keep the cruise or go to the world. I am just furious with Disney right now.

I'm with you, Shelly. Not sure what they can do...I guess I will bring my daughter's sound sleeper just in case. Good luck!!!

Same here. I thought we would be fine on Deck 6, but now I'm unsure. The price difference is only $40 for a 7 night cruise.

I got ya covered....we've got extra small fans! :)

Thanks, but unfortunately fans won't drown out the base vibration that a previous poster described as dinosaurs stomping through your stateroom. If I'm one of the people in Evolution til 1:30 then it's all good, but not so sure about leaving the boys alone AND not too sure if I can hang that late. :lmao:

Thanks for the encouragement! Canceling is NOT an option so I guess I'll pay a visit to Guest Services and see what they can do. :thumbsup2

The upside is you know in advance that this cabin has a noise issue...so, a trip to get GS right away may get you a new cabin? Worth a try! And, if that doesn't work and the noise is an issue for you (you aren't one of those in the club) report it....you might get a little something for your troubles and also it builds a history for this room and maybe a change will be made?

My parents have 5678 booked for our Feb 27th sold out cruise and I was literally up all night stressing about this after reading this thread. It is their first cruise (and probably their last), my dad is practically being dragged on...and this will NOT go over well! They are both light sleepers and I really don't know what to do! I emailed my TA last night, but I will still put a call into DCL today to see if there is ANYTHING they can do to be proactive so they are not dealing with this on the cruise...which DCL will be if the noise is as reported. This will be my 7th DCL cruise and I have never (really never!) brought a complaint their way...never needed to. But there is a general expectation to be able to sleep in your stateroom during "typical quiet hours" and if this expectation isn't met, I will have an expectation that something is done to correct it.

I have never seen this website before, but just found it on a search....deck 5 actually comes with a warning. http://cruiseadvice.org/disney-cruise-line/disney-dream/cabin-selection

I called DCL and emailed my TA and both said nothing can be done but rebook later like September. Maybe by the time my cruise comes up, May they will have done something.
I am sending DCL an email today. I know that they must be coming aware of this situation each day. If we choose to keep the cruise and this greatly effects our sleep I will be complaining. We may get compensated somehow but I had rather have my sleep.

From the two stateroom reports from the Dream, it appears that the Deck 5Aft rooms are pretty loud. We are booked in 5178 and it doesn't appear like there are any other rooms we could switch to without paying a lot more. Are there fans we could run in the room or anything or are we out of luck? I have never been on a cruise and have no idea how loud this could be. Somebody reassure me.

Freaking great. We have the same room on March 31st, and there are no rooms left on the entire ship to move us to. Being a single parent, I'm always sleeping with one ear open. I'll be calling every day hoping something will happen and a room will open up somewhere.

Simple solution, but if enough people are complaining about the noise do you think they would lower the bass level?

We all need to complain. Maybe something might get done. Emai and call. Do it before you cruise. Unless we get a extremely great package rate at the beach club we will keep this cruise.
