How noisy will a room right over Evolution be?

I just had my cabin moved from 5678 to 5668 but I had to get to a supervisor to do it. The cruise for aug2is almost sold out

This is why I booked Deck 6 instead of Deck 5.....didn't anybody else look at a deck plan before booking? :confused3

It's the poor people who are GTY or who get a pixie dust 'upgrade' to these cabins who I'm sorry for.

.

Yeah, we did look at the deck plans before booking. But considering my only cruising experience was on the Magic/Wonder, and no state rooms are directly above nightclubs on those ships. I have heard reports of noise from ABOVE (on the classics staterooms on deck 8 and deck 2), but none from things BELOW. We were deck 6 die hards and never heard noise from the Buena Vista theater after 6 cruises. It wasn't even a consideration when we booked 5678 for my parents, based upon our previous cruising experience.

We were lucky enough to be able to move them out of that room, and save money while we were at it. But, I don't think anyone is asking you to feel sorry for them if they "chose" a stateroom in that area. I think they are asking for a fair shake in being able to, well, sleep in relative peace at night without their water glasses shaking on the night table, like the rest of the staterooms on the ship.

Good luck to those who are trying to change, but hopefully, DCL is correcting the problem, regardless.

I didn't notice it until well after I booked. Yes my fault. But getting a moderately quite cabin is something that I would just expect. Certanily not one that has been referred to with the likes of jurassic park.

arggh..this is sounding worse than I even feared when we booked those rooms. We're on a family reunion with young kids and needed the four connecting rooms. I was afraid I would suffer from the bass of the club, but figured I would just have to suck it up. Sounds worse than I imagined.:sad2:

When I saw the floor plan, I REALLY expected those usually brilliant Disney engineers/designers would have extra-fantasmic sound proofing for those rooms. Silly me - I also expected they would never make the adult pool smaller.:scared1::laughing:

Fingers crossed they will have something worked out by summer!:worship:

Amen...There shouldn't be any rooms above Evolution but since there is they should have been solid soundproof. The genius that designed that should have to spend 4 nights in one of the rooms.

With twin 4 year old girls. :P

When we booked my sisters wedding party into these rooms, primarily for the 2 sets of connecting rooms across the hall from each other the deck plan we reviewed just had the areas on Deck 4 grayed out. We were having an unusually hard time getting a hold of and working with our TA and truthfully we were so relieved to just have all of us booked that after we sent in our deposits and confirmed the cruise we went into hold status until January when the boat sailed. Then we still didn't think much about it, thinking sound proofing and how rocking would a night club be on DCL anyway? Then came the trip reports.
Fortunately the bride and groom will be in one of the Cat 5 rooms closer to the elevator then Evolution. No trip reports have been reported for those rooms yet, but I think she's safe.
I think if the noise continues DCL so will the complaints as they should. Maybe it will lead so a quicker solution. Whether it be improved sound proofing, or down grading the room category so renumeration is built in.

don't panic yet - friends were on it two wks ago above Evolution and said they never heard a thing. i guess u could stay up all night hopeing for some noise, but remember all the clubs close before 1AM

Not true. Evolution usually closes at 2 am.

I'm in 5666, and my understanding is that they are both noisy. Here's a review for 5668.

Ship: Disney Dream Stateroom: 5668 Condition: 3
Deck: 5 Category: 8D Location: Aft
* Sail Date: 01/21/11* *
Notes: This room was VERY noisy at night, above a night club. I would not choose this location again, being deck 5 aft was inconvenient as you could only access the aft elevators (kids clubs are in the middle of the ship). This required you to go through Cabanas every time you wanted to go to the pool. The room itself was very nice, ignoring the noise issue. If you are going out until 2am, this won't be a problem...if you have kids, this will be an issue.

Is there something wrong with me to think that Disney should compensate something for all those who are/may be affected greatly by noise levels at night?

ROTF!!! You've HEARD of Disney, haven't you? Compensation? Might as well as for the return of the original Imagination ride at Epcot.

I do think that someone else has already posted that they were compensated. I am sure Disney is getting an earful of this complaint daily.

Compensated beforehand? No hope in heck. Do your best to change rooms beforehand if you are that worried. Check every night before your trip, and you'll get something (i got something on my filled cruise).

Compensation before hand no way I know. But we need 2 rooms together with no more money out of pocket. Not going to happen.

I wasn't willing to take any chances and am so glad I was able to change rooms. I certainly did not want compensation-just a good night's sleep.:hippie: And, of course, a wonderful, happy cruise so that I can talk my DH into doing it again.:rotfl2:

ShellyLynne-did you post why you have to have connecting rooms? I don't remember if it was because you had small kids or not.:confused3 Don't give up yet on getting your rooms changed. Just keep trying. Maybe someone else that has 2 rooms will cancel their reservation.

I snagged 5650 last night. I just couldn't pass up that verandah.

That is my room and I don't want people to know about it because I think it will be a very, very popular snag on board. It's a less expensive room, HUGE verandah, and right next to the kids clubs! I could not be more excited to be on deck 5!!

So, shhhhhhhhhhh people!!!!!!!!! keep this kernel of knowledge to yourselves! :ssst: :hyper:
:lmao:
Honestly, I have been reading this thread, going, what the heck is wrong with you guys!!!??
have you never cruised before?!
There are noises in every cabin on cruise ship - some are weirder than others, like the creaking and groaning known to be prevalent on the Magic and Wonder to the fully preventable and now rectified slamming closet doors on the classics.

Really, I find cruising to be kinda noisy in every cabin - it's something everyone has to get used to the first night..... along with.... wait for it......

HUGE SEASICKNESS! If you have never cruised before, you will be suffering from as minor as a headache to full blown hurling that first night anyways. Most everyone gets some reaction to their first night at sea, and I have to tell you, sound from Evolution will be the last thing on your mind.

I find that link with the cabin recommendations to just be completely wrong. Do your own research, don't panic, and relax - if it is a huge issue your first night, you will be taken care of by DCL. Enjoy your double extended verandah, lower price room, and go with the flow.

I have cruised before and had a room over the movie theatre on the Wonder. I felt bass during the day but nothing at night. And.....wait for it.......No SEASICKNESS! So, I disagree with the notion that people should expect noisy rooms and illness when they're paying $1000's for a vacation.

And reading other's reviews is part of doing your own research. Duh. Last time I checked, DCL didn't let you take a trial cruise to see if your stateroom was just right.

Maybe I should have said: "Awesome! Become angry everyone and demand change!" Then this soon favorite location for me will become much cheaper next cruise when everyone posts how awful it was. I was actually concerned people were going to figure out how much larger the verandahs were, how much lower the price point is on this deck, and the convenience of being so near the clubs, and then these would be as hard to get as the secret porthole rooms!

I am fine with people wanting to get all in an uproar about this, Just fine. I just wanted to make sure everyone reading this and not posting didn't feel that this would be the end of the world as they know it if they are booked into this deck. I say, give it a try, or ask to move if possible prior to sailing. Disney giving refunds for a cabin you booked but haven't tried yet, seems a bit extremist to me, but hey, maybe you all will get the pricep oint lowered even more and may get money off my lovely cabin with that HUGE verandah.

I booked after the deck plans were made available - and I booked immediately upon the release of rooms, so it was very obivous even at that time what was above, beside, and below these rooms - even when it was just a big grey blob.

To each their own, but really, I choose to live life a little more relaxed and not become panicked by something I just heard as opinion on the DIS.

I agree with the go with the flow, but the rest of it....:confused3

If a cruise is full and your room is vibrating from the bass of evolution, how will you be taken care of by DCL? Do you have experience with this?

Sorry you suffer from such a seasickness problem. That stinks. I am the queen of motion sickness. I get sick looking at video games, watching Saving Private Ryan, driving up in the mountains and I even got sick when I was a boat patrol ranger everyday at work. That position didn't last long. But in 6 DCL cruises...I have never been sea sick. Even on the first night. Even when sailing through tropical storm Fay in 2008. And the waves were insane.

But after reading your opinion about sea sickness, I am even more glad I took preventative measures to move my parents out of that aft stateroom that I should have known upon booking for them that would sound like a dinosaur was in their room above a nightclub that I have never visited on a ship I have never sailed. I sure would hate my mom to have to listen to that bass vibrating as she suffers from a "headache to full blown hurling."

You may want to try Bonine or Dramamine. They work wonders.

I don't get sea sick. But now that I have mentioned the first night to you, look around on the first night of your cruise and see how many people are suffering and you will see that a great majority of people suffer some affects, be it a headache or the full out not being able to stay through their dinner seating. You may not have noticed it all given you don't suffer any problems. But you will now. ;)

My son gets headaches and it took us two cruises to figure out why.

I suggest ginger chews to everyone I know going on a cruise rather than dramamine.

As to DCL will take care of you if you find your cabin completely unnacceptable: if there is somewhere to move you to, I am sure they will take care of it, as I have heard they have done many times for people here on the boards when there are significant issues with their staterooms and an alternative is available. Full sailings, there may not be a way around it, so do your research and change cabins prior to sailing if you want to - but don't expect compensation for a choice made by the vacationer. And I am just cautioning everyone reading this not to get caught up into a panic attack caused by opinions if you have no other choice than these cabins. Cabins make noise, some more than others. The bass booming does sound awful but you won't know to what extent it is awful to you until you experience it yourself as with all other reviews people give to everything on board. They are just their opinions. Mine is, cabins are noisy no matter where you are and that most everyone gets some form of seasickness on their first night - am I wrong? Probably, so too may be some of the reviews a bit more extreme than necessary by calling all of deck five some place to avoid like the plague.

Oh no I booked cabin 5672 for my sister and I was able to move to cabin 5666 thinking it would be a little bit better is that not the case????
