How noisy will a room right over Evolution be?

From the two stateroom reports from the Dream, it appears that the Deck 5Aft rooms are pretty loud. We are booked in 5178 and it doesn't appear like there are any other rooms we could switch to without paying a lot more. Are there fans we could run in the room or anything or are we out of luck? I have never been on a cruise and have no idea how loud this could be. Somebody reassure me.

Loud! I dont know if a fan would drown it out...I was in 5668 for a two night preview cruise and glad it was only 2 nights! Sorry to he the bearer of bad news...

It was your review that I saw. You would think they would do a better job of soundproofing in those areas.:sad2: I don't know what to do.

Ipod. I have suggested this before. Download some relaxation sounds and sleep with the earbuds in your ears. I have rain sounds and thunderstorms downloaded on my ipod. Works like charm. Even drowns out the worst snorers.

I wonder if the first cruises were bad just because of the high percentage of adults. I have been on 5 cruises and the bars are pretty much dead after 10:00.

... evolution is THE place to be... lots of 18, 19 ,20 types dancing the night away. I agree there are usually just a few on the other ships (in wavebands and rockin bar d) late night...

That was not the case on the Dream... literally had to turn the lights on and off 6 or 7 times to get everyone out of there...

We had a great time but stayed to the rear of the bar to avoid the base noise in order to carry on a conversation...

It will all be done by 2 AM...:thumbsup2

2 AM?!?!?!!?:scared1: That's at least 4 hours past MY bedtime, let alone the kids.:rotfl2: I did look and see that there are a couple of Cat 6 rooms left so I may just have to bite the bullet and upgrade.

Another question-is it loud all day or just in the evening hours? Seriously, even the kids probably won't get to bed before 11:00 since we're on vacation so maybe a few hours wouldn't be too bad.:confused3 I'd rather talk DH into upgrading so I better liquor him up tonight.:lmao:

Not on topic, but with the butterfly theme isn't Evolution the incorrect word, shouldn't they have called it Metamorphosis?

we were on deck 6 (6690) and you could hear evolutions

I would guess these rooms are like those deck 2 on the classic ships under the night club.

Oh nooooo!!!! I just booked 5190 and 5192 and will be sailing with a first timer. I hope the noise is bearable. I really wanted the aft rooms.

This is a nightmare. Disney should have done better than this.

I understand some noise such as what you get in hotel rooms, etc...but they should have provided a couple extra levels of noise reduction in the rooms they knew would be loud. We are fairly light sleepers as well(3 of the 4 anyway).

I am going to send Disney a email about this tommorow. If it is really that bad, I will be discussing the issue while I am still on the ship with someone. I will be polite but direct. I am very upset about this already. I realized after I had booked our two cabins that they were over a nightclub. My fault, no doubt. But Disney could have done better.:sad2:

I don't think an Ipod is going to cut it. Someone I know who just sailed in a 5 aft equated the boom beat and vibration from the music to a dinosaur from Jurassic Park running thru their cabin.

I admit I was disappointed they omitted the Nav Verandas(which are aft) from the new ships, that is by far our favorite cabin on the M & W. Now, I'm very glad our cabin is midship on the Dream.

If something major is'nt done I may just have to cancel and rebook something else later. I just can't believe it is this bad!!!

My turn, we were on Deck 5 AFT - it is not just the noise, it is the pounding of the base. It was not bearable. I would NEVER go back to deck 5, ever, even if the cruise was free. Sleeping on the verhanda might provide relief, a fan - nope. The pounding was worse than the music. The "sound" or "noise" of the music could be tolerated if you were not a light sleeper, but not the "base-beat".

Evolution is a cool club - it is a great place and if the folks want to party until 2 or 3 or 4 - fine with me. If the Deck 5 aft rooms were reserved for those who are at Evolutions each night - also fine with me.

For the rest of us (stoggy as it may seem) - the Fantasy needs to be constructed with significantly better sound-proofing.

I may just go ahead and put in a deposit for a trip to the world instead. Keeping both trips scheduled until I decide what to do. But it is looking more and more like we will not be on the Dream in May. I am so upset.

Don't worry - we were on the Maiden in 5192 and we loved that room! You are at the end of the rear hallway, so there's no foot traffic past your door. The veranda is HUGE and shaded. The laundry is right across the hall (was so convenient for us to dry a few things & I never saw anyone else in there). Yes, you will hear the bass from Evolution until closing time - on the MV that was 2 AM. But honestly, after the first night when we both said "what the heck is that", we never thought about it & it did not keep us from falling asleep.

We liked this room so much that as soon as we got home I tried to change our Fantasy MV to this room - but it was unavailable.
