We are going to disney in 2 weeks!!! I was wondering you do/think we should bring as far as money?

We are a Family of 4 (Mom, Dad, 4, 1) We are on the DDP so food is taken care of, We have 6 Table Service ADR's (1 CRT). We would need money 4 tips, gift shops ;), and anything else....

I would perfer the use cash as it helps stay on track. What do you think!?!

Thanks!

I dont take cash b/c if its lost or stolen you have not recourse. At least a lost debit card or credit card can be canceled with no negative effect on your vacation or finances. But thats just my preference and not everyone will agree.

The amount you take is pretty flexible. Some people love to shop and buy a ton of souvenirs. If you fall in this category its best to make a souvenir budget and stick to it.

Count on 18%-20% for tips on your table service meals. I would lean towards the 20% (or even more) since your youngest will be eating for free from your plate but will still be taking up a seat and requiring the same amount of attention from your server that a child of 3+ would. Since the ddp only covers two meals per day, I would also add about $15-$20 per day for additional food unless you are bringing snacks and breakfast foods to be eaten in your room. You may not need it but you dont want to come up short.

For tipping think about $1-$2 per bag for curbside checkin at the airports. Another $1-$2 per bag for bell services if you use them. $1-$2 per person per night for mousekeeping if you intend to tip them.

I also highly recommend having at least one credit card or debit card on hand in the event of an emergency. God forbid that you should need it but if have to visit a doctor or pick up some medicine you will be thankful that you brought it.

We're about the same size family with a DD3 and DS4mo. We just got back from a 7 night trip in December. We brought $1000, came back with some. I'd always prefer to bring more, and come home with extra instead of being short at WDW. $1000 is usually a good amount for us.

I also prefer to bring cash. I link it to my room key though so I am not carrying it around the parks all day.

As far as amount. I plan on bringing 1000. I hope to come home with some..but we'll see.

I do not like carrying a lot of cash around, so I usually just bring about $150-$200 for tips (mousekeeping, bell person, or valet if we use them). Everything else, we just charge to our debit/credit card.
