Living in NJ, I pay $230, not including tips (I tip the washer, who also puts on the glaze, the colorist, and the hairdresser). Looks nice, though!

I used to pay $150 for foil, cut and blow but now I don't pay a thing. My 21 DD is a hair dresser and if she likes living here she'll do my hair!;)

The last time I paid for highlights and cut at a salon, I paid $150. That was a few years ago and I swore never again. Now I color my hair at home for about $12 and get a trim for about $12 also. I refuse to pay that

I think that's a great price, especially if it came out good!!!! Last time I went it was $150, with tip $175. Just a cut and foil highlights. I have shoulder length thick hair.

To be fair this is the first time I had gone to this salon and my friend that recommended the stylist FAILED to tell me that the stylist was the OWNER. I am sure it would have been a lot more affordable had I not gone to the OWNER!! She did a really good job though and recommended some products for my hair that for the first time actually worked!!

In the past I would pay anywhere from $98 to $120. That I consider reasonable.

Foil highlights for my shoulder length hair- $130
Haircut- $60

I pay $110 (and another $20 for the tip) for highlights/lowlights/cut/blow dry. Sounds like you got a great deal.

I pay $40-$50 for my haircut at a pretty nice salon in the suburbs of Chicago. If I also had my highlights done there it would be $75-$80 more. A friend's mom does my highlights out of her home salon, though, and only charges $40. She would also only charge $20-$25 for a haircut, so I guess I could save more money, but I have been going to the salon for my cuts for a while, and I really like the girl I see.

Oh, yeah - none of those amounts includes the tip. So I think you are getting a pretty good deal.

Haircut and 2-color foil is about $140 plus tip. I wish I could find someplace cheaper.

Yowza!!! You guys pay insane prices!! I go about every 8 weeks or so and pay about $50. We don't have "high end" salons, but it's much much more than Supercuts.

The guy who takes care of my hair has been doing it since I was old enough to have a haircut. He may cut me a deal, for all I know.

I'm betting he cuts you a deal. I've been doing most of my clients hair for so long now that I am cutting most them a deal, LOL.

I'd never pay 150 for highlights for my hair so I wouldn't charge any of my clients that price either. That's one of the ways I choose my prices--"what would I pay for this service?"

I think the OP got a good deal. Using 4 color formulations is expensive for the colorist. The price of haircolor itself goes up constantly!

I just yesterday paid $110 for a color correction, foiling and cut.

My last visit was $197. BEFORE tip. I know, just shoot me.

I didn't read all the post but I know I pay higher than the norm. I get the works which includes highlights, low lights, (foil), cut and an eye brow wax.

ETA: My salon does give me a few alcoholic drinks while they do their work so I'm guaranteed to leave with a warm fuzzy feeling :)

You got a good deal, my last cut and foil was $123, but my hair is passed my shoulders.

...

The other who does my hair for high class events or when I need it to look like I belong in the "corporate" world charges me around $225 to $285 for a cut, foiled highlights, plus an all-over color OR a color remover to go back to my natural state. We all pay a price for beauty:rolleyes:

Hey Dancer! Can you pm me where you go for your "corporate" world hair? I cannot for the life of me find a good guy here. I had the best best best guy in Nevada and I can't seem to find anyone that can cut and color a good curly head of hair here. That's about what I paid for my old guy so maybe your guy is comparable. I am willing to pay for good hair :rotfl: I miss Brad soooo much. I never even had to tell him what to do. He would just do whatever he wanted and it always looked fabulous!!! He is still the only reason I miss living in Nevada!

Thanks again for all of the replies and votes, everyone!! :yay: I really do feel like I've gotten a great price for the work she does. She's actually someone from a neighboring congregation who was recommended to me several years ago. She used to work out of her own salon which was part of her house, but she has since converted that space back to living space, so now she works out of a salon and pays a fee to the owner of that shop. I guess in the last year or so since she has made that move she has started to charge more, currently $75, so I wasn't sure exactly how that fit in with other salon prices. She started out charging me only about $55-65.

In case anyone is curious, here's a picture from our last cruise a few months ago, I had my hair done right before this cruise. My hair is now a bit longer, but basically the same style. I don't think you can see all the different shades of highlight, but they're there. lol And actually, the highlights she just did yesterday show up even more, which I like. I guess they're a little brighter this time.

You guys need to come visit me. $40 plus tip.

Holy cow........... some of these prices are insane!!!

I am currently charged $50 for a cut, highlights (foil) AND lowlights (foil).. however, i know it's b/c i use to work with her at a salon (i did nails).. and i have already referred several clients to her as well.

$85 for me. I usually round up to $90 -- but she owns the place by herself. I'd go somewhere else, but she does an awesome job, and always reads my aura while I'm there :confused3 :lmao:. So it's a bonus. (Woman is STONE COLD CRAZY. Colby cheese helps her psychic powers. :scared: If she didn't do such a good job, I'd drop her like hotcakes.)

The place I used to go to would cost about $150. We recently did a "girls night in" at my best friend's house after her mom had some rough days at work and her friend is a beautician and just went to town. She gave me the best cut and highlight I've ever had. . for free! So I'm going to start going to her. . . she works in a cheaper salon (she thinks even women on a budget deserve to look good so she won't leave no matter which salon offers her what - how nice is that?!) It's about 2 hours away, but I figure I can make a day of it when I go. . . just go shopping, stop in Amish Country (mid-way between here and there) and all that.

I get my highlights put back in every late spring, just in time for summer. I usually pay $125 or so for a color and foils. It depends on how many foils I do. A color is $65 and I am not sure about how much a cut is maybe around $25-30? It's worth it to me though, it's the only indulgence I have.

I pay $125 total including tip for a cut and 2 highlight colors
