If you work full time:
1. How many paid vacation days per year do you get?
2. How many paid Personal days per year do you get?
3. How many paid sick days do you get?

We own a family business with my parents, two sisters, and brother. My one sister has nothing to do with it other than having to pay taxes. My other Sister, Brother, BIL, and my husband all work there full time(40hrs/wk). I work there part-time with my dad and another non-related person.
Our time off goes like this:
3 weeks (15 days of vacation cannot take more that 10 days in a row) and 3 personal days. No sick leave at all. Any funerals or other days of the like are taken out of your vacation. (Part-timers get no paid vacation or sick)
We are just trying to figure out what other employers give for vacation, sick, and personal time off.
My DH and I don't think that we get enough and the rest of them think we get too much time off.
Working for family is a pain!
So what do you get for time off?

I get 12 sick days, 3 emergency days (child is sick, etc), 1 personal day (cannot acrue more than 2) and 0 vacation days.

My husband gets 25 vacation days and I think 12 sick days, but I'm not sure on that.
 
I get 15 sick days, 2 personal days, 15 days vacation (3 wks) and depending on who it's for, bereavement days. For an immediate family member, it's 5 days, for in-law, etc. it's 3 days.
 
I get a combo PTO (paid time off) that accrues weekly for a total of 28 days a year but this is for employees with more than 15 years...

Our new accrual rates give employees with 1-5 years only 12 PTO days, with 6-10, 15 PTO days, and more than 10, 20 PTO days. so the most you can ever accrue is 20 days/year which is like 3 weeks vacation and 5 sick days. You can use them any way you wish and can buy them back at 50% at the end of the year.
 

As a teacher I get 10 paid days off during the year.

When I worked at TDS as management, I got 15 vacation days, 6 personal/sick days and 6 holidays. BUT, I had been with the company for 7 years, before 5 years I got 10 vacation days, but the same personal/sick and the same company holidays. Company holidays had to be taken the week of the holiday, and as I understand it tend to be a retail and sales thing, not something everyone does. Mainly because we worked the holidays, so we would get an additional day off in the holiday week to make up for working the holiday that most people would normally get off in addition to their weekend.

Many companies now refer to all time off as PTO, rather than distinquishing between vacation/sick/personal. It makes it easier to keep track of, and you don't have to worry about how you distinquish between the days off. For instance, if you need to take more than the allotted "sick" days you now can without a problem because it is all the same leave bank.
 
Also, bereavement and jury duty were not part of our time off. Like another poster said, when it came to bereavement it depended on the relationship.
 
DH works for a smaller family-owned business, with about 30 employees.
He is full-time and gets 2 weeks vacation- he's been there 12 years, and next year will jump to 3 weeks of paid vacation! :banana: No more than 6 weeks can be carried over from year-to-year or they will be lost. One guy has been there for 20 some years and he actually takes the whole month of December off. (it's their slowest times) and I keep thinking how fun it would be to spend a month in WDW!!! But, they are almost never allowed to take vacation days in the summer months because they are so busy and usually have overtime.
He gets 1/2 hour sick pay for each week he works and can accrue them to any amount.
They have no part-time employees.

I work for the State and I get 26 days of vacation and 12 days of sick leave per year.
 
We get a certain amount of time per pay period and have to use it for anything...sick, holiday, personal, whatever. :sad2:
 
I have 25 days vacation, 9 days of personal time (since I am on salary I am not paid for holidays - I get a personal day off instead) and 3 sick days.
 
I work for a mid sized law firm and have been there 15 years (this October). I get 4 weeks (20 days) vacation and 10 days sick/personal. Bereavement days are based on relationship and jury duty is paid.

Also, I get paid for any sick/personal days I don't use. I get paid time for hours between 35 and 40 in a week, time + 1/2 over 40 hours in a week.
 
I get 7 sick days and 2 personal days. Anything not used carries over to the next year as sick days.

Dh gets 1 wk a year, and it cannot be carried over. He uses it or loses it!
 
My company offers PTO (paid time off) as one of the pp described with a few differences.
1-5 years 28 days
5-10 years 34 days
10+ 40 days

Bereavement is separate. You can carry 300 hours at any time. If you get to the 300 point, you can add numbers to an emergency sick leave bank (only to be used for medical reasons). You can carry 180 hours in this bank. The thinking is to permit people to bank 480 hours so that you could have 12 weeks paid FMLA.

We keep the pto pool so that people can take time when they need it and we don't encourage the sick calls when people just want to take a day.

We operate several 24/7 programs so we need very flexible leave policies. We also allow people to cash out leave at 2 for 1.

I had to figure it out because we go by total hours not days but I get 18 vacation days, 12 sick days, and no personal days. Half of sick leave can be used for family care (for children, spouse, parents, or grandparents). All sick leave carries over to the next year and up to 200 hours of vacation time can be carried over. I get a bit more vacation time each year of service but sick leave stays the same. Bereavement is not included in any of the time listed above and varies by the relationship. Jury duty is not included in any of the time, either. We just have to give the check we earn for jury duty to our employer and we get our regular pay.

We also get all major holidays as paid plus (depending on how the calendar falls) time off during Christmas (usually from around December 23 to January 2 or 3.)

Part-time staff gets only paid time off but that uses a very convoluted formula and is based on ours worked per week and years of service. I think there is a 96 hour cut off per year.
 
I work full time and have been with my employer for 4 years. I just started getting 15 days PTO per year because I reached 4 years. Before that it was 12 days. I won't get another increase until I have been there 7 years I think. The PTO is our vacation/sick leave combined.

The bereavement policy is a joke. We get one day for immediate family if the family member lives within our state. If we have to travel outside the state for the funeral we get three days. My mother-in-law passed away earlier this year and I got one day off for the funeral. I needed to leave an hour early the day before to get to the family viewing in time and had to take PTO for that. My sister-in-law works for Walgreens and they gave her 5 days off with pay for the funeral (her mother-in-law also so same relationship).
 
I work as a school secretary. I get
11 sick days
11 vacation days
month of July off
and due to budget cuts I have to take 11.5 non-paid furlough days
 
I had been a Federal employee until I retired.

10 paid holidays a year (New Year's Day, Martin Luthor King Birthday, President's Day, Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Columbus Day, Veteran's Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas).

13 Days per year of Sick Leave, and could carry unused leave forward indefinitely.

Annual Leave varied -
- Until 3 years service - 13 days per year
- From 3rd Anniversary until 15 years - 20 days per year
- From 15th Anniversary - 26 days per year.
 
DH gets 18 personal/vacation days and no sick days or things like that. 1-2 days for funerals. DH had to use personal days to go to his grandmother's funeral overseas since 2 days is not enough time for that.

At least for their holidays they are nice - they give xmas eve AND day, new years eve and day and the Thanksgiving Friday too which makes it easier.

Vacation days- 5 weeks and one day- all picked by seniority, I can take the whole time at once, plus all my sick says at once and take most of the sumer off if I want.

Personal Days- 6

sick days - 12 and they get saved year to year and bought back if we don't use them when we retire.

Bereavement- 3 days (mom, dad, step mom, step dad, brother, sister, mom in law, dad in law, kids, grandparents, step children)

Jury Duty- unlimited- you can stay on a jury for months and get paid the entire time.

Holidays- 13 paid holidays off, we can work if we want to for double time and a half.
 
I use to get three weeks of vacation days and two weeks of sick leave. Then the company figured out they were doing it wrong and took away a week of vacation time. Only three days of bereavement leave.
