How many towels?

I assume that you get 4 sets of towels to start at a DVC room which sleeps 4 people. We are used to staying in standard rooms at WDW resorts with daily maid service. Is 1 towel change midweek enough? How often do members get extra sets?. Also, do you get pool towels as in the other resorts? Should we pack laundry detergent, or is it supplied? Any info please

Depends on the size unit you are in. If you are in a one bedroom, you will have 4 bath towels (2 near the whirlpool, and 2 near the shower). You will also have 4 washcloths and 4 hand towels and 2 bath mats. In a studio, you will get the same number of towels, but only one bath mat, because there is not both a tub and a shower. If you are in a 1 bedroom or larger, you will have an in room laundry, so washing towels is not an issue. In a studio, you will have free access to the laundry at the pool.

Yes, pool towels are provided in the pool area.

Pack laundry detergent, because only one pack is supplied, and you will need more.

We almost always stay in a one bedroom unit (I cannot remember when we last stayed in a studio - I'm spoiled :)! ). We have had two floor mats, four bath towels, four washclothes & only TWO hand towels. This is one of my "bones of contention" (the other being the lack of fitted bed sheets). I know we have a washer & dryer, & I do use them. However, I feel if we have more than two guests, then we should have one hand towel for each guest.

I bring liquid laundry detergent in plastic soda bottles - 16 oz. & 20 oz. size. When I am finished with the detergent, I just recycle the bottles. I also bring a few dryer sheets in a baggie.

What's with this? Shouldn't you get 4 "complete sets"? Should I pack extra hand towels?

No need to pack. In the master bath, there will be two hand towels and two wash cloths and another two hand towels and two wash cloths at the vanity in the shower/toilet room. An extra set can be ordered for $6.

I have always called housekeeping the minute I get in the room and ask them for 4 addtional towels and have never been charged anything extra.

Personally I feel there should be four complete sets of towels. However, in a one bedroom unit we only find one hand towel in the bathroom & another one near the sink near the jacuzzi. We almost always drive, so if we are having guests, then I do bring extra towels.

A towel pack or "set" is four wash cloths, 4 towels and 2 hand towels. 2 hand towels should be enough for a studio or 1 BR. An extra pack is $6 and should be charged though it is not done consistently. If not in a studio, one can always wash. The studio becomes the hard part as the W/D is not convenient. I feel for the studio they should provide a cushion of at least 2 towels, etc.

Not sure why, but our trip last month, we had an extra hand towel on the deck by the whirlpool along with the one on the towel ring, and two hand towels and washcloths on the bar by the vanity. Then there was also an extra washcloth wound up like a rose. Maybe it was just a nice housekeeping CM!

Maybe, or maybe it was the floor mats, there should be two of those for a 1 BR and one for a studio. Actually I think it's pretty common to get 5 towels and washclothes with the 1 BR though rare to get more than 4 with the studio or 8 with the 2 BR. What you have to watch for is only getting 3 towels for the studio and 6 for the 2 BR.

We had the 2 bath mats too, but also got the extra hand towels and washcloths on our T&T day too. We actually had more than we could use! I have had to ask for towels occationally when there have not been the recommended amount in a 2 bedroom. THis trip we had 4 people in a 2 bedroom, so towels were NOT a problem at all.
