3x confirmed, 2x suspected due to contacts having confirmed cases. I have had 4 vaccines (planning to get another booster once eligible again. I'm O+, so that theory doesn't work for me. I've caught it from immediate family the 3 confirmed times and coworkers the 2 suspected times. I wear a mask at work (hospital), but not in my shared office unless someone is sick. I wear a mask in my home when someone is sick as well. I have no idea why I'm so susceptible to it when I don't really get sick with anything else, ever. I'm type 2 diabetic and have high blood pressure (both well controlled with meds), 50yrs old, normal weight, exercise regularly, am active, etc. I also have a heart arrhythmia, which I have had an ablation for, that acts up when I have covid and during recovery. I worry very much about the long term effects of repeated covid and I really hope they figure out why some of us are so susceptible and get so sick from it.
1) Dec 2020, confirmed. Caught it from my mom while caregiving. She got it from her dialysis facility. I had a pretty severe case and ended up on oxygen for a few weeks. I had pretty much every symptom attributed to the virus this go round. The vaccines had just been released and I was scheduled for one the next week. Ha!
2) Dec 2021, suspected. Had started a new job at a new hospital, but we were still under strict precautions. Caught it from confirmed coworker who had minimal symptoms, which I was not aware of at the time. This time was like a bad cold for me, and some lingering stressed heart issues.
3) Aug 2022, confirmed. DH had traveled the week before and even though he wore a mask while traveling, he did not in the office and with coworkers. He developed slight allergy symptoms a couple days after he got home. Because his was so slight, we didn't even think it might be covid and we had just had boosters in June. Ugh. This time was like a bad case of influenza, serious fatigue, stomach upset, lingering stressed heart issues.
4) Oct 2023, suspected, but close coworker had a confirmed case. I did not feel too bad with this one, more on the mild side, but I apparently get the standard menu of symptoms every time, they just vary in intensity. Had to see cardiologist yet again due to lingering heart arrhythmia.
5) Jan 2025, confirmed. Was actually at DW and SonIL got sick first. He shared with the rest of us, haha. We left our trip early and I got paxlovid as soon as I took the test and it was positive. I do feel that it helped with severity, but I still had the lingering fatigue and heart issues up until this past week. Ended up in the ER one night because of my arrhythmia acting up....I tried to go back to work too soon. Apparently 12 days from first symptom and 6 days after completing paxlovid was too soon.
