How Many Sleeps Until Disney Mommy?! August 2009 PTR **WE'RE BACK!!!**

Yay!! for 22 sleeps!!!--oops it's 21 now right? I'm so behind:rotfl: :woohoo: for 21!!

Ahhh....a cruise sounds so nice. I would love:lovestruc to go on one someday!:cloud9:

I pulled the suitcases out the other day and threw a few things in!! (well..only the new things I've bought and the shirts I made.) I'm getting so impatient now!!:rolleyes1

Any new purchases lately?popcorn::

The last little smiley made me crack up...

You haven't done a song for a while - did you stop doing them?

I've been covering at work this week for a colleague on vacation. Let's just say she left a lot behind undone so I've been going crazy. :scared: I like doing them so I'll pick it up again :rolleyes1

I'll go with you! My hubby has zero interest in going on a cruise, my teenager hates boats, and I have this huge fear that both my daughter and my daredevil little boy will think nothing of jumping off the side of the ship to go swimming! :scared1:

No purchases lately but Alex is back today from a camping trip and I have to get him some water sandals so that will motivate me to get going. :rotfl:

Going water shoe shopping today or tomorrow myself for DS. Very tired today and dont know why. Think I need to start my vacation a week early. :lmao:I was terrible at work this week, cant concentrate-so next week will be even worse.

Hey you.... I feel like I haven't talked with you in a while. :rotfl: I forgot we're doing the Harry Potter movie today too so I may have to bump my shopping to tomorrow.

I'm lazy today, just read the newspaper and am still enjoying my coffee. :surfweb: I'm finding it tough to concentrate on work 3 weeks out, you must be jumping out of your skin with only 8 days!!!

Possibly major changes here.... help! I'm in desperate need of bouncing off ideas with anyone!

If I've read things correctly, there is a chance that free dining is going to be offered for November/December to the general public. Those that have followed along here know its our dream to go at Christmas time. We cannot afford two trips so that means moving our August trip to December. :santa:

I called Disney and I called Southwest to find out any implications for cancelling and rebooking and there are none. None! The airfare cost at this point is even exactly the same as our August fares. Exactly! I have no problems getting the time off from work but the kids would now be pulled out of school which Alex hates to do, and the hubby probably would not be able to get the time off work. In fact he's pretty positive he won't be able to but he's telling me to go without him which I would not like, but its our dream! Ugh!

Then he's suggesting we go when the kids are on Christmas break so we wouldn't have to pull the kids out of school, but that means higher airfare probably, and then we'd miss the DH's birthday which I would really not like to do but he says "big deal, so what!"

AAAccck! Of course this is all based on if the free dining even gets offered!?!?

What do I do? What do I do?

my opinion here, take it for what it's worth...

if your hubby can get time off work, I would do a combo, like half when the kids are in school going into when they are off of school. It will be very crowded when kids are off school. But if it is your dream, I say go for it. Then maybe you can add in MVMCP if you are interested in doing that. And if the trip does cost a little more, figure you have a few extra month of money to go toward your trip. I know a lot of things would have to fall into place for your, so I'll have my fingers crossed for some pixiedust: to come your way.

I'll be on pins and needles waiting for your decision and others thoughtspopcorn::

Ahh...what a tough decision!! Honestly, I'm not sure if I could cancel a trip that was soooo close.:confused3 But....to go at Christmas time.:cloud9: especially, if it's your dream to go at that time of year and there is no implications for cancelling and rebooking, I would say do it!! You would have a few more months to save up if you ended up deciding to book during the kids Christmas break, to offset the cost of more expensive airfare. Would you still do the Water Parks option in December? If not, then maybe you could use that money to offset the cost? or even add MVMCP!! Which would be so much fun!

But, that's only my opinion...:) I'm sure you will make the right decision for you and your family.;) Oh, and I just have to tell you how great your DH is for realizing how much this would mean to you and not objecting even if it means he wouldn't be able to go.:goodvibes What a wonderful DH you have.:thumbsup2
Good luck!! I can't wait to hear what you decide.popcorn::

Opinions much appreciated!!!

He's 99% sure he cannot get the time off, which sucks but I'm now pricing things out with just the four of us. I've found out the last day before Christmas break is Dec 18th, so if we went a few days before then, Dec 15th to the 22nd (I wouldn't want to be separated on Christmas day), the airfares for the four of us would be $913. Not bad. Resort $1800. Not bad. I think we'd add in the MVMCP, not sure how much more that would be.....

But Alex might not want to go now with it partially over school time and the water parks out, or he might want to try and bring a friend again which means a second room. And if Alex doesn't want to go that would mean just me keeping track of Ariana and Demetri which is tough and no hubby to talk to .... I don't know! :confused3

I could honestly go either way right now. I haven't even talked to Alex yet, he'll be back later tonite, to see if he'd still want to go. I think the costs would be the secondary factor at this point since its not too much different... I haven't priced MVMCP yet so that could change. I think what's making the decision so difficult for me is the hubby staying behind, that would be really tough for me. I can't imagine him not there. And if Alex decides he'd rather not go I think that will be the deal breaker.

Oh...I know how you feel.... I couldn't imagine leaving my hubby behind either.:sad2: I hope everything works out for you.:goodvibes

Wow what a decision to make!! I know you will make whatever decision is best for you and your family!!!! Have you been able to talk to Alex yet???

Can't wait to hear what you have decided!

Well Alex is home now and we've talked about it. He would be fine going at Christmas time either the first week of December or the third week that includes his Christmas break. I'm shocked. Seems a friend of his just went to Disney this past Christmas and she told him it was amazing. I remember when I could tell him anything and he'd believe me because moms know everything.... now he needs his friends to tell him. :rotfl:

So if we went with December instead of August, the two major differences would be no hubby  and MVMCP instead of water parks. Oh, and December would be 8 days instead of 10.

Doing the fuzzy math, our August trip with the five of us is $3K inclusive whereas December with the four of us would be $2.7K for the first week or $2.9k for the third week.

I asked Alex flat out, what should we do and he thinks we should stick with the August trip. He too doesn't want to leave his daddy behind and he asked if it "would be worth all the extra trouble just to see some pretty lights?"

I asked the hubby flat out, what should we do and he thinks we should move it to December. He says we've had three August trips and a December trip would be completely new for us.

I'm still torn. :guilty: More thoughts and opinions please?

Just my opinion, so please take it for that.

I went in December 2008 and will admit it is definitely my favorite time to go. However, I personally would stick to the August trip. While I would go without DH, I do prefer he is there. I know if we cancelled this late in the game DS would be devastated even if we were going in December.

I think they will be doing good deals from here on out and there is always next December. Disney is going to be there, its not going anywhere.

Just my thoughts. That is a tough one, I say do whats right for your family-only you can answer that.

Wow, that's what you call the horns of a dilemma. I don't know. If it were me, I think some of the shine would be off the dream if DH couldn't go AND I had to corall three kids by myself, even if one were a teen.

BUT your DH wants you to go in December? Does he really want you to go or is he trying to be selfless and will secretly be a little disappointed that he doesn't get to go with you? AND Alex has said he'd prefer to have DH there. How would the other two react if he wasn't with you?

Christmas at Disney sounds heavenly, though, so do what feels right. You'll make the right decision for your group.:goodvibes

Hmmmm....it's really up to you. I would hate to say do this or that and be the one that steered you wrong.

I've been during the Christmas season. It's very nice to see the decorations. The weather's definitely more manageable....

Thank you everyone, this has truly helped. Thank you for listening and allowing me to get my thoughts straight by laying everything out there. :grouphug:

At this point I'm pretty sure we're keeping our August trip, I just can't go without George. Yes, the shine would be gone a little bit without him and him missing the love and joy beaming from my daughter's face would make the trip too bittersweet. We would all miss him everyday and that is not how I want to experience Christmas at Disney.

All of this drama for something that might not even happen! If the FD is extended into December for the GP, the silver lining in all of this is if they do it now, they might do it again! :cloud9:

I see you've made your decision, so I'm too late to chime in and make a difference.... :(

But I, if you haven't already, would advise you to get the December version of the Disney Planning DVD. I think it has a bunch of the lights and displays and stuff in it... if it doesn't, it should.

I do love Disney during Christmastime, and know that when I was in high school, my mother wrote a letter to my teachers explaining my brother's situation and why this was important to us, and I was able to get my homework early and do it over Thanksgiving break (I crammed and then stuffed... :rotfl:)

However, you do really need to think about if it will be as magical without your husband, and if you'll be able to handle everything on your own. I think you've made your decision, so that's all I'll say. :) The Osbourne Lights shouldn't be going anywhere, and Disney definitely won't.

And besides, can you really wait another 4 months? :lmao:
