How many pairs of shoes do you own?

This am I heard on a trivia show here in Canada that the average is 17 pairs!

I thought this number was high b/c personally I own 6 pairs.

1 Walking Shoe
1 Running Shoe
1 Winter Boot
1 Dress Boot
2 Sandles

The Running shoes are comfort only :rotfl: transition between the Walking shoes and Winter Boots for our Colderrr climate! ;)

Now I'll go back and read these posted replies. . .

I've never counted, but under 20. Maybe more if I include many pair of cheap flip flops.

I am not a shoe person. I hate shopping for them and I hate wearing them. Shoes are not my thing!

5 pairs sneakers
2 pairs running shoes

Female, eight pairs of shoes. I have winter boots, sneakers, flat dress shoes, Crocs flip-flops, Mickey Crocs, regular fur-lined Crocs, and two pairs of Crocs slip-on boat shoes.

Just about all of them are black, haha.

These threads always amaze because some people have so few. I am not a shoe person, but have around 20. Some of them are probably 20 years old, but I still have them.

black flats, brown flats, clogs
black pumps, navy pumps, brown pumps
black heels
new walking sandals, old walking sandals, flip flops
boots, snow boots
crocs to wear around the house
black tennis shoes, brown tennis shoes,
regular white tennis shoes, tennis shoes for just the gym
old tennis shoes for painting, old tennis shoes for the beach.

The four pairs of white tennis shoes get cycled through with probably a new pair bought each year and the oldest pair tossed. I probably buy new flats for work every two years or so. The rest I keep for years. I'm not exactly a shoe freak, but reading these threads always makes me feel like I am!

I don't have any hiking boots right now, but if I did that would put it at 20.

oops - just thought of one more pair - dressier black sandals for when walking sandals won't do - so I guess I am at 20.

Female, 40 :faint:
USA

4 running shoes
2 gym tennis shoes
1 hiking shoes
4 sketchers slip on tennis shoes
1 pair winter boots
2 Uggs
3 heeled boots - calf
1 riding boot -fashion
1 riding boot for actually riding
4 shoe boots (only way I can describe them lol) ETA: Called Oxford pumps
3 ankle boots
3 ballet flats
3 casual flat tie shoes
6 sandals
32 heels in varing heights and styles

69 that I can count on the top of my head. Of those 68, I probably only wear a dozen or so regularly. lol

Male in the US.

I probably have a dozen pair but I'm usually barefoot or wearing sandals. If I need shoes for some reason I wear my Vans slip ons or my 25 year old Bass loafers. For spirited driving I have a pair of Piloti driving shoes.

Male mid 50s

About a dozen pairs of footwear ranging from winter boots to cheap flip flops

DW early 50s: at least 50 pairs, of which 20 or more are cheap flip flops. For some reason she's a flip flop fanatic.

5: 2 pair sneakers
1 pair sandals
1 pair crocks
1 dress

Let me add that I am retired and I rarely dress in anything but shorts and a t-shirt. No need for dress shoes.

However, I've never been a shoe or purse person. I own one purse. I use it until it dies and I buy another. I've never spent over $50 on a purse. I'm just odd.

It might be interesting to see by demographics:

Errr, I may have to give up my woman card on this one.

Whew, from the responses on the first page I thought I might be the only one!

I'm the same way, Feralpeg - I replace my shoes as needed. I'm on my 3rd pair of the same style New Balance running shoe and I find a new color combination of Converse when the old pair wears out, but unless the current pair is looking beat I've got no interest in buying new shoes. And I don't even carry a purse.

Female, US, early 40's

I have about 40 probably. About 7 are in weekly rotation and the rest are situational. I try to throw an old pair out every time I buy new ones, but sometimes I just squeeze them in.

no Crocs and no weather specific ones, we don't have 'weather' here. :)
