How many pairs of shoes do you own?

Sweet Lord, now I have to lie because no one here is a shoe addict like me! LOL.

Let's see I stopped counting mentally at 117 but that's including boots and sneakers
I love shoes, I could easily spend my way through a shoe department.

question:
Why do folks say wearing heals or pretty flats "dressing to impress"?

When I was a stay at home mom, I wore really cute flats or "kitten" heels with my jeans. Why does being a SAHM= looking grungy? I had 3 little ones and when we went out, I rarely wore sweatpants and sneakers unless we went to the parks. Maybe because I lived in a major city (NYC) when they were younger and there is a lot of stuff to take little kids too but I definitely was able to be comfortable without sweats and sneakers.

Anyhoo,
I'm a shoe-aholic. love them.

I am not a shoe person, so I am not even quite sure, I'd have to go root in the reaches of my closet. I think this is right though...

1 pair of work shoes (brown, tennis shoe/hiking/outdoorsy look - sturdy construction)
6 pairs of Crocs (I think... a couple of the pairs didn't fit quite right and are buried, unused)
1 pair of dressy black flats
1 pair of nice summer sandals
1 pair of VERY old Birkenstocks (LOVE these shoes, but it is probably time to bid them goodbye)
1 pair of old tennis shoes that need tossed out and replaced
1 pair of snowboots (ugh)

I totally HATE shoe shopping. I need new work shoes, and won't be able to put it off much longer, but I am procrastinating because I dislike it so much. How un-girl-y of me, right?

Female Chicago Age 45 about 70 pair try not to buy new shoes without throwing out an old pair
Omg I'm so glad I found this thread!!! DH thinks I have way too many shoes but I honestly feel like I need more.
One pair of Ugg boots
One pair of Marc Jacob punk mouse flats
One pair of Pearl Izumi running shoes
That's it for my more pricey shoes
Then I have 4 pairs of Toms, one pair of hot pink converse that I never wear lol, a pair of fitflops, a pair of eastland Mary Janes, new balance tennis shoes for work, a pair of boc sandals, 3 pair of cheap Payless ballet flats, a pair of Vince Camuto studded ballet flats, a Calvin Klein kitten heels, 5 pairs of Payless high heels (I just started wearing high heels so I haven't invested in a good pair yet), two pairs of cheap boots and a few random pairs of cheap flip flops. I am learning that it's really worth having a few pairs of nice shoes than a bunch of cheap ones. I bought a pair of flats on amazon for $10 and after one wear the color was peeling off! Those Vince Camuto ballet flats I paid $100 for but I have worn them for the longest time, walked all over New Orleans in them and they still look great!

35 Pairs of Shoes --

2 pairs of slippers - I don't know why! I never wear slippers, but my mom gives me slippers for some reason. I need to get rid of them...

1 pair of cross trainer tennis shoes

1 pair of backless KEDS tennis shoes

2 pairs of athletic sandals

6 pairs of casual flipflops

2 pairs of dressy flipflops

2 pairs of dressy flat sandals

7 pairs of strappy heeled sandals - various heel heights & styles

1 pair of clogs

3 pairs of flats

3 pairs of closed toe wedged heels

5 pairs of heels

3 pairs of ankle boots - 1 flat & 2 heeled

1 pair of knee-high boots

1 pair of snow boots - I bought them when I was visiting my sister in Ohio & it snowed; I keep them for our odd southern snows

I need another pair of tennis shoes. Also, I'm a summer gal, so I have lots of lovely summer shoes. My fall & winter shoes are sadly lacking... I need 1 or 2 more pairs of flats & at least 1 more pair of knee high boots.

I don't think I usually look grungy. I don't wear sweats except when I'm driving the kids to school in the morning (because I don't get out of the car - with 4 people needing to get ready and out the door by 7, I wait on my shower and morning primping until they've gone!). I mostly wear cute, fairly stylish jeans, but a collection of shoes just isn't a spending priority for me. I've also always kind of had a bit of an offbeat style, leaning more towards Birkenstocks than kitten heels even when I was more inclined to shoe shop. And left to my own devices I don't wear shoes at all whenever possible, so when I do spend on shoes it is to get that barefoot feel while still meeting "no shirt, no shoes, no service" standards. My most expensive shoes by far are my "barefoot" running shoes.

What started me asking this is that I have 13 shelves of shoes in my closet...more shelves than some people have shoes .... Even counting them individually not as a pair. I live in Nebraska where we have 4 seasons so that is my excuse, partially, for having so many shoes (73 pairs). While I.d like to wear my flip flops year round, the wind and blowing snow we get would not make that a good choice in the winter! Now some of my shoes are old (1998 )it is hard to destroy Birkenstocks. I wear MOST of my shoes at least 1x a year minus 15 pairs or so. I need to find a way in my organizational system to identify what I don't wear in an attempt to clear the clutter. Right now I am really jealous of some of you....selecting what shoes to wear in the morning is much easier for you than me but....I am not quite ready to let go of too many.... I can find one or 2!

I'm not much of a shoe person (or a shopping for clothes person), so I have one pair of running shoes, one pair of white Chucks, two pair of flip-flops, and some snow boots. That's it. I don't even own a pair of dressy shoes.

Female

I own 7

1 pair of junkie tennis shoes for outside activities (white)
1 pair of running shoes (white)
1 pair of flip flops (black)
1 pair of dressy sandals (black)
1 pair of loafers (brown)
1 pair of black pumps
1 pair of green pumps

I am mostly barefoot. Wear the flip flops about 8 months of the year and wear the junkie tennis the rest of the time. Rarely wear the dressy shoes (haven't yet this whole year) which were for work (have been a stay at home for 10 years now) and, unfortunately, don't don the running shoes as often as I should.

FYI - My husband owns 1 pair of black tennis shoes - nothing else. My kids each have a pair of tennis shoes and croc knock-offs. That's it.
