We're honeymooning in WDW in October, and we are really looking forward to Mission Space, but my fiance gets motion sickness, and although he loved most of the other rides we have been on, including Star Tours, which is his favorite, I am wondering how he'll do on Mission SPace, which I hear is way more intense. Anyone care to share stories or suggestions? Thanks!!:D

I am not a roller coaster person, I don't like heights and spins. My DD went on MS and told me she didn't feel any spin at all. I tried it myself, I almost chickened out while waiting, but I am glad I tried it. I followed instructions and glued my eyes on the screen and didn't feel any spin. I will try it again in August.

This should give you an idea....

This thread seem to show a diversity in experiences. Some threads will be all "I was fine" while another thread will be all " I was ssooo sick"

I find, that with all the Mission Space threads, everyone's experience is their own. You cannot go by what someone else says, you need to experience it yourself. Some people who get mtion sick all the time were FINE, while others with stomachs of steel got sick.

Hi
It is more intense than STs, but I cant go on STs and I was ok on MS.
Its a totally different feeling.
I dont know if I would do it more than once a day though.

Nice point. I rode it and the G force is what I felt (from the spinning), but not the actual spinning. Just stay focused on the screen in front of you (it's not hard, as you sit very close to it) and enjoy the ride! :wave2:

Has your fiance ever been on the Gravitron or the Rotor at a carnival? The experience is similar, but far more intense. I think it depends upon what triggers the motion sickness, as to whether or not M:S will be a problem. You're not being twirled, you're being centrifuged.

Maybe give him some dramamine and give it a try? It's my favourite ride in the world, and the World, of course.

Kungaloosh!

Motion sickness will set in if you feel the spinning instead of having your body fooled into thinking you are accelerating "up". The key to this ride is to go along with the premise that you are in a rocket. To accomplish this you'll be looking at visual cues on the monitor showing that you are travelling "up" and you must keep your head still, keep it back in the headrest and do not close your eyes. Your body will then interpret what's happening to it as being accelerated - then it's a ton of fun!

For motion sickness, you might want to find a store that sells ginger gum. Ginger helps with motion sickness and in the gum form it makes it palatable. We were unable to find it in stores in our area so we had to order it on line.
