How is Avis Preferred Service?

Have you ever used this? Is this similar to National's Emerald Aisle? We'll be renting at their PC location if that makes a difference and dropping off at MCO.
Thanks for any tips, experiences or opinions.

I've used it several times at airports across the country. Sometimes I got an upgrade, sometimes not. The difference from Emerald Aisle is you don't pick the car, they assign it. There have been times they have assigned me an SUV and I have asked for a "regular car" and they switched me. Depending on how the airport is setup, sometimes they give you the keys at the booth after you show ID, sometimes they give you the space # and you have to checkout at a booth at the exit.

Does it allow you to skip the line at the counter? We'll be renting post cruise which I've never done. (Thanks to AirTran for pushing our flight 7 hrs later, we now have some time to kill in Orlando.)
There's a free shuttle from the port but I imagine there being a lot of people arriving around the same time.
I signed up for their Wizard program but don't really understand the difference between that and Preferred Service. Not really looking for an upgrade but I wouldn't mind if it happened. I'm more looking for a way to avoid a long line.

We use Avis Preferred at MCO frequently. Its very simple in Orlando, you get your luggage and take the elevator down to the "tunnel" across to the parking garage. Avis is on the second floor and there is a kiosk there where you get your keys. Walk over to your car an away you go.

Yes, you skip the counter. There's no charge to join preferred service.

Double check the signs, I think they are on different floors depending on which side of the airport you are on - A or B. They are on the second floor on B, it might be first floor on A.

Good point. We always fly Delta so we are always picking up on the B side. :car:

Just noticed that the OP mentioned picking up the car at "the PC" location. I'm drawing a blank on that, but it sounds like all that good info we gave about picking up the car at MCO isn't applicable.
