How inexpensive do you think...

...I can make this spur-of-the-moment trip?? Poor DH and kids aren't going, but my best friend and I are! We are staying only 4 nights and will only have 3 full days to spend at the parks. We are splitting room costs (about $230 each) and have each bought our own tickets (mine was $211). I won't be buying souveniers since DH and I just went last November, but I'm sure I'll pick up a little something for the kids and a t-shirt for DH and myself. I still have a park pass and food to consider. So, how cheap do you think I can make this trip?

Amanda, more info please.

1st on the ticket. Will you be going later in the year with DH & DS's? If so, you may come out cheaper in the long run to buy an annual pass (yes it's more expensive now but in the long run...)

2nd, the food: how many meals a day do you plan on eating, do you have a room with a fridge that you might eat breakfast in your room, do you have certain restaurants or charactor buffets that are a MUST DO?

WorknFires - Unfortunately my family and I will not be going back anytime this year. My kids are still quite young and we aren't comfortable with taking them until they are 7 and 9 (3 more years). I'll just be buying a regular park pass.

Food-wise, we are taking advantage of the grocery stop offered with Tiffany Town Car and buying our water and snacks. We will probably eat no more than 2 meals per day in the parks or at the resort.

My friend is as budget conscious as myself so we are trying to make this a fun and inexpensive trip.

Thanks!

Sounds like you have the major expenses out of the way, except your ticket. I buy 7-day hopper passes and use them for more than one trip. If you are not going again for 3 years a 7-day ticket may not be the best thing to get.

What ticket to purchase really depends on what you want to do,

5-6 or 7 day Park Hopper plus (unused days never expire)

includes
major parks with park hopping, water parks, pleasure island and pleasure island

*********************************************
Regular park hopper (unused never expire)

allows park hopping in major parks

*********************************************

Ultimate park pass

Allowes access to all parks, Disney quest, water parks, Pleasure island for length of stay in Disney Hotel

This pass has to be purchased for entire stay by everyone in the room.

********************************************

There is also another pass which allows entrance to just one park per day.

As far as meals for my trips, if we order just drinks and entrees, no alcohol or desert.

Per person

lunch about $10 for counter service and $15 dine in.

Dinner: about $10 counter and $15 to $25 for Dinner

We usually only eat one meal a day at the parks.

On our last trip, I consumed snow cone, dole whip, Turkey leg. No room for an actual meal. Cost still $10
Actually my daughter (10) shared with me.

If you are a light eater, try the kiddie meals at the counter service. These are usually plenty for me.
I even ordered one at Sci Fi when I took my daughter. It was more than enough and I got a frisbe to take home.
