How has your luck been with waiting lists?

Our home resort is VWL, although we've never stayed there. At 11 months out, we made our ressies there for the week of Dec 11th. A month or 2 later, we went online to book our airfare (always use the same airline/airport) only to find out that the flights are $500 each that week, compared to 1/2 that price the week before. We called DVC back to switch our rooms (2 studios) to the prior week (week of Dec 4th) only to find there are NO studios open. We put our names on the waiting list. The DVC CM told me that possibly some people have booked there only to move at the 7 month window to another DVC resort, so it's possible that we may be able to stay at VWL.

Well, we went ahead with the airline tix for Dec 4th week, and are hoping we can stay SOMEWHERE, but preferably VWL.

After that long story, I guess I'm asking if anyone has had any luck with getting their request after being on the waiting list. And if so, how close were you to your trip when you found out?

We were able to get ressies at BWV for the week before Easter by being on the waitlist. Initially they came back with just half the week and then followed up with the entire week later on (about 3 months out if I remember correctly). This was for a Preferred (non-Boardwalk) Studio.

We just received a confirmation yesterday that our October waitlist for BCV came through.

Originally, DS10 & I were staying at SSR. Not that we would have been disappointed but DS asked if we could stay at BCV. We didn't have a change in our dates, just a change in our location. We were on the waitlist since a could days after the 7 month window.

This was our first luck getting our waitlist. In the past, we've tried a couple of times without any luck.

I waitlisted for a standard view BWV, in early November, and it came through about two months after I started the wait.

I waitlisted day by day, though, instead of the whole timeframe.

I received a call regarding my waitlist for august of this summer at Hilton Head, they called and said I had to call by 5:30, they closed at 3:00 today??? if they say all my days come through, I will freak if I lost them!

Every waitlist I've been on came through with the exception of one - Boardwalk Standard View, but the reservation wasn't made but a few months out.

We found great air last month for May and booked a BWV studio for a weekend in May except all the studios were booked for May on Sunday nights. So we waitlisted a studio for the weekend we wanted and booked a 1 bedroom for Sunday night.

Got the call yesterday! The studio waitlist came through, great news so we won't have to move the last night

We're in the opposite situation; have a std view 1br BWV booked for first 5 nights, but none available for last night, so booked a std view studio and on the list for a 1br. Hope it comes up!!

good luck. We are on the waitlist for OKW GV for Nov. Here's hoping . Do understand this correctly they actually will call you if it does come thru? i have heard of dvc not being able to get thru to some people because of "do not call" lists, could this be a possible problem? Also, I assume they will leave a message if you don't answer (assuming they get past the do not call thing)?

We booked our upcoming May trip in November '04. We wanted a 2-bedroom at BCV, but they were booked so we went with BWV. About 3 weeks ago, our waitlist came through for BCV! I was quite surprised when we got it in the mail!

I called to try to get a BWV studio for mid October Food and Wine...none. But there was a preferred (not boardwalk) one bedroom. I reserved that and am waitlisted for a studio Boardwalk View.

I hope I get the waitlist cause I honestly don't want to stay in a garden/pool room. I guess I'd rather be in OKW 1 bedroom, but I forgot to check there, duh.

Anyway, it was my first ressie, and it was easy and the MS was so sweet!

Lets hope we can all get our waitlists pixiedusted.

Hang in there!!! You should get your waitlist. But you were given good info to waitlist each day. This increases your chances. It is a pain but works. I did that last year for New Years. Sometimes it comes really quick and other times you really have to hang in there. There is no definitive rules.

You can automatically take the dates from the waitlist, instead of waiting for a phone call. Tell MS that you would rather do this, than have them call you and, if you're not home, miss the message or don't call them back in time.

They will send you a confirmation, through the mail, letting you know you got your dates. Also, if you have another resort booked, as a back up, tell them that if the waitlisted dates open up, to cancel the backup resort.

Our waitlist came thru; we are now in our 1br std view BWV for all 6 nights of our trip! I'm so happy; was NOT looking forward to packing everything up a day early to move into a studio!

And yes, they did leave a message on our machine since we were out when they called, and gave us until the close of business tomorrow to call back, which is longer than I thought we would have.
