How does your family dress for any family holiday get-togethers?

well, for thanksgiving I wore old jeans, a pink floyd t-shirt, a hoodie, and adidas. As dressed up as I am getting!

We've never been dressy in our families... Jeans and or sweats are great.
Thank god.

Dh's family- khakis and button down shirts, skirts, sweater, dress pants.

My family- jeans and a nice top/sweater.

Depends on the occasion. We have dinner with my grandparents before midnight mass on Christmas Eve, and we usually dress up for that (dress and skirts for the girls, slacks and a sports coat for the guys). Everything else is casual. Thanksgiving and Christmas day are usually sweaters with jeans, khakis, slacks, etc. (Nice casual). For Mother's Day, game nights, things like that, anything goes.

I always tell the kids to put on something nice, so we can eventually take a good family photo, but that's not usually til the end of the day. Before then, it's usually pretty casual. Since I spend most of the day cooking, whatever Im wearing is usually covered up in an apron..lol

I remember one year, we were sitting down to eat and my mother looks at one of the twins and says "cant you at least put a shirt on?"...we all laughed and he got up to put a shirt on...lol

For holiday and birthday parties, it's usually dress slacks/button down shirts for the men and slacks/skirts and sweaters or a dressy top for the ladies. I have also seen nice jeans, but nothing like sweat pants or yoga pants. And no t-shirts unless it summer and we are having an outdoor picnic. Everyone is dressed comfortably, but it's obvious people have made an effort to look nice. The attire is definitely a step up from what you would wear at home lounging around.

This is pretty much how we approach dressing for family holiday dinners. If the occasion calls for my best table linens, china, crystal and silver, then we will dress up. If it is an informal get together then relaxed and informal gear is fine.

A bit of a contrast to my DH's family, where just getting some of the family to change out of pyjamas is a major concession.

Jeans and a nicer tshirt. I used to dress up, but the old fogies (who still dress up) keep it around 1,000 degrees. They're lucky I'm not in shorts :lmao:

Casual, jeans, sweater, whatever we feel like wearing.

My in-laws barely change out of their pajamas.

We are usually slightly upscale - slacks, skirts, sweaters, shirts with buttons, etc.

I'm the one who is usually trying to persuade the family to dress up a little but I'm also the biggest slacker because I do most of the cooking and I am kind of a messy cook. I rarely wear anything other than yoga pants at home and usually make a mad dash to throw on something decent between the last bit of cooking and announcing that dinner is served on holidays.

When I was little everyone dressed up now it is usually jeans, sweaters etc...

This one has always driven me crazy. I grew up in a family that would wear business casual type clothes for most get togethers and nicer clothes on some occasions. DW came from the find some jeans with no holes in them crowd. 15 years later I think that we've settled somewhere in the middle. She's broken me down to nice jeans and a nice shirt and I've gotten nice shirts on her and the kids...Though if I had my way, we'd all be dressing nicer.

It's changed over the years in my DH's family. We all used to dress up more, but it's gradually getting more casual.

Nice jeans and a blouse for me, nice jeans or khakis and a collared shirt for DH, and similar clothes for our son (the baby lives in pajama sleepers right now). I don't care to dress up much, but I do want to look nice for pictures. On Christmas morning for present opening, we are all in jammies, but I do fix my hair and add a bit of make-up so I look presentable.

Whatever you wear. No dress code here.

Same here. Dh and I like to go dressy casual for holiday get togethers, the kids wear whatever they want, as long as it fits, its clean and has no holes.
When they were little and I was still dressing them, I dressed them up, but those days are long gone.

....we usually let the kids dress a little more 'casual'...

.....although, :scratchin that ONE Christmas, it was a little TOO casual:

Of course, there was that one Christmas, when we combined holidays:

I think you hit the nail on the head. What is considered "family holiday dinner" is different for everyone on this board. Family holiday dinners for us do not include china, crystal and silver--not sure any of us even own crystal and silver:rolleyes1. Family holiday dinner for us means family will be there and we will be eating dinner (or lunch, or supper, or just appetizer/finger foods).

We don't wear pajamas though. Except on Christmas Eve, the kids change into their pj's before we leave because it's usually late and they got straight to bed when they get home.:santa:

ETA: And that Christmas picture with the swimmers and their ribbons on the tree. That is HILARIOUS!
