Our flight had a minor schedule change (15 mins later--no biggie), but an equipment change. This isn't song, but is Delta. I knew that after the time change chances were good that something would change with a flight.
While checking our itinerary last night, I noticed that our "seat assignments" were kicked out due to the schedule change. I immediately called Delta and was informed that our new seat assignments were in row 31!!!! I was not at all pleased and knew my husband would have a hissy. (Which he did by the way.)
When I booked this flight, I chose it for the plane configuration and seat availability--yeah, yeah, I know, things change. . . Anyway we had row 12 and 13 with one seat across the aisle (5 total). This would give us two windows and 3 aisle seats. We wouldn't be crawling all over each other or others wouldn't be crawling over us. Further, we were only 2 rows behind first class and would, therefore get off the doggoned plane faster. Additionally, white knuckle flyer husband wouldn't be over the wings--which he hates--can't stand the noises associated with wing seats--aelerons(sp) (flaps) moving, etc.
So, where does the computer move us directly on the wings' rear side at the point of the aelerons(sp)! Will Delta change our seats--NOPE--they have no access to any other seats. So now, out of 45 rows we're stuck near the rear and in my husband's least desired location (other than rear). We complained all the way up the chain and got nothing--just the comment that we could "try and change our seat assignments at the gate"--in other words, fat chance.
This is such a minor thing for most people, but it really burns me because when we booked this flight, there were very few seats sold so ours were some of the first! I don't know how that computer goes about reassigning, but it certainly isn't based upon ticket purchase! It also can't be based upon preferences--remember we had two windows and three aisle seats.
One last complaint while I'm venting--the plane's economy class is booked solid--if economy doesn't begin until row 20 (which is what the rep told me)--what have they done with all the other folks on the larger plane originally listed? The original equipment was a 2-5-2 that began at row 10 and it was fairly full when I checked on Friday. My guess is this flight will be oversold since the size of the plane was reduced. We have a very tight connection and won't be checking in early--I will be even less happy with Delta if for some reason we aren't on that flight. Guess that will teach me to alter the plans that have always worked before--we almost always fly early a.m. rather than late a.m. With 5 of us, we really wanted the original configuration--should have stuck with those early flights. . .
Anyway, if someone figures out the "mind of the computer" reassigning seats, let me know! I'd like to outwit it to get what I originally booked!
