How do you feel about adults drinking alcohol at Disney?

What is your position on adults openly drinking alcohol while in Disney?

  • I could care less...it's their business

  • It kind of bothers me but not enough to let it affect me in any way

  • I am offended and I give dirty looks to those who do it

  • I am so offended that it keeps me from going as often as I'd like

I feel the same about it in WDW as I do anywhere. Have drinks if you want them but know you're limit and be responsible.

The BF and I actually noticed we drink less on vacation than we do at home. Too much other stuff to do!

I have to say that overall it really doesnt bother me. I enjoy the opportunity to try some of the country related drinks in EC. In my younger days I did the EC drink around the world experience several times. I like the lounge in DHS.

Here is where I do have the problem.
1. I dont like it in the MK, This park should be alcohol free!
2. A couple years ago we went to F&W. This has always been one of our fave events. It seems to have become a drunkfest. Much more then in previous years. My group commented on how many drunk guests there seemed to be most of the day. Vomitting everywhere. It truly was a turn off.
One member commented about remembering the days when you could not leave the Mexico QS area with your margarita. They had CMs standing at the entrance making you drink up or toss if you wanted to leave.

I don't drink alcohol. I don't care if others do unless they become drunk, abusive, obnoxious ect. If they act inappropriately, then it becomes a problem.

Sometimes the smell bothers me and I try to move away where possible.

I could care less about reasonable drinking. Heck I'd do it myself under different circumstances (if I were on a trip with friends rather than my kids).

But excessive drinking is a problem for me, and at least at certain times seems to be a problem for Disney.

We were at Epcot on a Friday night during F&W (a couple of weeks ago), and my kids heard a man screaming about his date because "the b**** won't kiss me after I just paid $x" for something for her (it was something like 7 bucks, so I assume an item from a F&W booth). They weren't upset, more like a little excited to be able to "tell on" someone for something scandalous.

I know it wasn't ideal to go on a Friday night but it was the best day for Epcot during our stay, according to Josh. I heard a few other people that let's say weren't their best selves right then...we ended up leaving before Illuminations, which is saying a lot. Illuminations is one of my absolute favorite things at WDW, but we missed it this year.

In the future I'd make Epcot a daytime only park if I was there on a Friday or Saturday night during F&W.

I wonder if that was better. How many people did they have downing the drink or drinking up? At least now, the person can drink the beverage at their own pace.

I would have liked for the MK to stay alcohol free but it doesn't bother me too much. I haven't been to the parks since they started allowing it though so I'll reserve my final opinion till then. I rarely drink and I know if I drank alcohol while walking aorund the hot parks all I would want to do is go back to my room for a nap so I won't be drinking. Hey maybe all this money from alcohol will keep them from raising park prices so much every year, after all I'm sure they are making a ton on this.

I voted for "could care less", but I have a caveat. As long as you are being responsible. If you start to stagger around and can't control yourself from bumping into people and are in any other way being obnoxious around families, then I do care and don't want to see it.

We love getting to try wines and such we normally would not at home. I really enjoy EP F&W, 15 times now, but it would be nice to see more security around WS Fri-Sun to mellow out some of the more rowdy groups. I think it's great a bunch of friends can get together and have a good time, but they need to keep in mind EP is not a frat house. I would like to know how they can afford Disney drink prices though! :rolleyes1

As for the other parks, I could take it or leave it. Although, it is nice to have a drink with dinner, or lunch (it is vacation!). I think there are a few parents that are grateful they can grab a beer or wine after chasing the kids around.

It seems like I agree with most: as long as it's responsible drinking, not falling down drunk, no problem whatsoever. It makes no difference if it's at WDW, the state fair, sporting events, etc., I don't want to see highly intoxicated people or have my kids see them.

Personally, I would need a nap if I drank during the day while visiting the parks, but I certainly would like the option to have a drink with dinner regardless of which park I'm visiting.

I guess the only good part about heavy drinkers at WDW is that most of them probably aren't jumping in a car and driving afterwards and there are plenty of CMs and security personnel around to deal with them.

My ILs don't drink. My MIL is so against drinking that we don't drink in front of her. (Which really isn't a problem because I don't even have a drink every month) We vacationed with them and had one drink the entire vacation (we went to the resort lounge). We had a fine vacation without drinking. The only regret is that I felt like we couldn't go to Biergarten. My MIL would never comment to someone or give them the evil eye, I just didn't want to go to a place called Biergarten with my ILs :lmao:

So all that to say, I know people morally against it. I also have spent time with recovering alcoholics, so I know people who have illness associated with alcohol.

I still really don't understand avoiding Disney because there is alcohol there. Other than the little town of Mayberry where my ILs live (not really Mayberry, but a small, dry town--with a lot of people who drink even though the town is dry), everywhere you go for vacation will have alcohol. I can see avoiding Epcot (especially world showcase) and any "bars/lounges" if you have a moral problem with alcohol or you are a recovering alcoholic, but avoiding Disney?

I mean maybe there is a whole world of destinations with no alcohol, but I guess I am naive because I can't think of any vacation destination that won't involve it.

I don't drink and I don't understand the appeal of alcohol in any form (it smells bad, it tastes like sock sweat, and makes me tired)...but I don't care if others do.

Actually some people at WDW need a drink!!
I am actually one of them sometimes!:rolleyes1

I enjoy the frozen margarita in Mexico and my friend loves to sit in the rose and crown with a Guinness.... this is part of our vacation. Adults enjoying an alcoholic drink while on vacation with friends and family is not a bad thing in my opinion.

I have seen lots of bad behavior in the parks and 99% of this had nothing to do with Disney serving alcohol!

If someone chooses to give me a dirty look while I am minding my own business enjoying my drink that's on them.

Drink all you want, but don't be a sloppy drunk around me or my family.

I couldn't care less about people drinking at Disney World or any place else for that matter as long as they aren't hurting anyone else or getting sick around others which getting very drunk can cause.

We were at AKL Concierge lounge a few years back and in the evening they have a few liquors out. One guy was drinking way too many shots and at one point picked his child up and went over to the railing. The lounge is 5 floors up from the lobby. Someone pulled him back. I was so afraid the child was going over the railing. The CMs pulled all the liquor at that point and talked him & his family into going back to their rooms (The rest of us were still able to get some, but the CMs only brought out only so much & they poured). The next morning he was out in the lounge again, but he was complaining of a headache. Poor boy was hung over.:rotfl:
