How do you feel about adults drinking alcohol at Disney?

What is your position on adults openly drinking alcohol while in Disney?

  • I could care less...it's their business

  • It kind of bothers me but not enough to let it affect me in any way

  • I am offended and I give dirty looks to those who do it

  • I am so offended that it keeps me from going as often as I'd like

I answered that it didn't bother me but my true answer would be that it doesn't bother me as long as people aren't intoxicated and aren't drinking and driving, etc.

I don't care what people are doing as long as they aren't trashed and sloppy and puking everywhere, or driving while intoxicated.

Most people are capable of drinking without acting stupid.

Fascinating topic to me. I don't want to get flamed for these comments...just trying to offer an alternative perspective.

I think that when Disneyland first opened, this thread could have been titled "How do you feel about adults smoking at Disney" and the replies would have been very similar.

We have come a long way with our understanding of the harmful effects of smoking and we are just beginning to recognize the long-term toxic effects of moderate alcohol consumption. My guess, in 50 years, drinking will be as frowned upon as smoking is today.

Actually, moderate alcohol consumption is considered beneficial by some.

I didn't see the pole to answer but here are my thoughts.

I am a social drinker - 1 or 2 and I'm good.

I do not mind if other Adults of drinking age engage in drinking responsibly; to each their own.

I do mind that Adults of drinking age drink irresponsibly - in a way that is disrepsectful, rude, and/or hurtful. Just because you've had a drink doesn't give you the right to hurt someone in any way. Drinking/driving, texting/driving, being mouthy or abusive etc. are not tolerated on any level in my house.

If I saw something at Disney that I thought could hurt another human, I would be that person to stand up and say something albeit quietly to security so that someone, especially a child doesn't have a chance to get hurt.

I would think that a large part of the reason that smoking in public is frowned upon is the health effect it has on other people. You're not going to get second-hand health issues from someone else's alcohol consumption, but you can be exposed to second-hand smoke.

If they can keep it under control, there is no reason not to enjoy a drink. If they are obnoxious and disruptive, then no.

If someone is so worried about someone else's behavior that it impacts their ability to have a good time, the problem lies within them, not with the people that they are observing.

Well......actually yes you can considering how many thousands of people are killed each year by drunk drivers....just wanted to point that out. I don't care what others do, as long as it doesn't infringe on me and my family.

Not sure how we got from a person having a few drinks in WDW to drunk driver killing people.

Just stating that there are second hand effects from what others choose to do that's all. Not looking to start a debate. Quite a few people who have a "few" drinks get into vehicles. That's all I was saying.

Cool, but a different discussion altogether. :goodvibes

No one wants to own up to choosing this:

I am offended and I give dirty looks to those who do it

It seems that 7 people feel that way. I'm just curious as to why . . .

I don't mind drinking in the parks. I like it that MK for the most part has remained alcohol free. I have never noticed alcohol at AK or HS being a problem, and must admit a cold beer can hit the spot on those hot AK days. I have not personally seen anyone out of control at Epcot but I'm sure it happens. Alcohol in the World Showcase seems like a natural in the context of being exposed to other cultures. I think Drinking Around the World Showcase is a neat tradition as long as everyone remains in control.

I dont mind if people drink, I myself have had a couple of drinks in Epcot.

However I just wish people would be mindful of how much they are consuming. This past July there was a group of 6 in front of us at the stand in Morocco pavilion who were visibly drunk. Slurring words, pushing each other over, screaming and yelling... And they were buying more drinks. One of them was so drunk when he got his new drink he spun around and spilled it all over his friend and me. We ended up getting out of the line and just headed back to the room. Actually saved myself about $40 since we didn't buy the drinks we were waiting in line for.

I was kinda hoping that the people that picked that option did so to be funny or just didn't read the answers well enough.

Besides, do you care why anyone would pick that choice if they did so legitimately? I couldn't possibly respect that type of person, so their reasoning wouldn't interest me in the slightest.

Drinking fine.
Falling down drunk, not fine.
Sorry folks, drinking is legal when you are over 21. Live with it.
