How do you feel about adults drinking alcohol at Disney?

What is your position on adults openly drinking alcohol while in Disney?

  • I could care less...it's their business

  • It kind of bothers me but not enough to let it affect me in any way

  • I am offended and I give dirty looks to those who do it

  • I am so offended that it keeps me from going as often as I'd like

We don't care unless you are acting like and idiot and ruining other guest experiences. One afternoon during F&W a very drunk men decided to grab this lady's butt. It was so inappropriate the poor lady didn't know what to do :sad2:.

Agreed- how about an option that says I wish I could get a drink at Magic kingdom not at bog

I like the fact that MK is dry other than BOG, gives a different feel when looking at menu boards. Although if they added beer & wine to other table service restaurants (such as Tony's) I don't think that would be a bad thing either.

I was more just teasing because the original poll doesn't represent the full range of viewpoints. I wish mk allowed drinks at all their table service but have no problem with no beers out of stands- although given the theming of gastons and pecos bills it's kinda strange not to be able to get a drink there

I don't have a problem with it at all. Like others have said, if there were a lot of people getting drunk, I think it could be problematic - even more so than "real life" because of how crowded, hot, and tired everyone is. But I've never observed anyone drunk to the point of it being an issue.

In my mind, I do think of the F&W weekends at Epcot as sort of "off-limits" for families with small children, because of what I've read regarding the general atmosphere of the event. I guess some people could be "offended" by that, but I don't have a problem with Disney having a few events that cater to the adult crowd.

DH and I love having drinks at Disney. Not once have we ever been drunk at Disney - even during our college Spring Break trips. I think people need to know their limits, but that's anywhere you go.

Unless the person is fall over drunk and beligerent, no one should care if they are enjoying a little adult beverage. :goodvibes

Most adults can handle a glass or two of beer, wine, or a cocktail without being remotely impaired. Frankly the prices at Disney world ensure that most people aren't going there to get hammered. Perhaps it's different for other people, but for me adults consuming alcohol responsibly has always been part of family get togethers, beer and wine was always served at every family get together. I was never raised to see drinking as anti-family, especially when no one was getting drunk.

Not to mention, Disney has great security you know they would be on someone if anything started to get out of hand.

Why no option stating " I enjoy an alcoholic drink at WDW " ? :confused3
seems the poll is tilted in one direction

I agree. For DH and I, trying new foods/beverages is the best part of being on vacation. If I wanted to avoid drinking while on vacation, I would visit my mother! :scared:

We were just there and it's food and wine festival. My dad, who used to drink heavily had to quit recently for his health, and the sheer quantity of open containers in Epcot was noteworthy to him. Whether it represented temptation or simply felt "un Disney ish" I don't know. We weren't really in a "drink around the world" frame of mind, but I had to have at least ONE drink - it's Food&Wine, after all! The prices are steep, but they aren't chintzy - my Hawaiian punch was STRONG! :)

I could care less..Nobody elses business...As long as you aren't stupid-drunk and puking on me , don't care.

DH and I are both 70+ and have been legally allowed to have an alcoholic beverage longer than most of you have been on this earth.......
We went to Disney on a regular basis (more frequently when we lived there) until two years ago.
We didn't often eat at places that served alcohol, but I can tell you that I loved the grey goose slushie at the little stand near France.
And occasionally we ate at Downtown Disney (Captain Jack's is of course no longer there) and enjoyed a drink.
The only time it bothered me is during Food & Wine when a lot of the younger set came to World Showcase and really did over indulge. You had to watch where you were going and where they were going because they weren't watching!!
To each his own. Most people we've seen since first going to Disney in 1982 DO NOT drink to excess.
:thumbsup2

Doesn't really bother me. In all my visits, only one instance really upset me though. It was 8 am at the pop food court and I watched one man chug 4 beers in about 5 mins. There was 2 empties already on the table. His wife went up to get 2 more for him and he went up to get 2 more right after she returned. Just felt bad for the kids sitting at the table with him :(

I don't mind it if adults have a drink here or there, as long as they are not obnoxiously drunk. The one time I was seriously disgusted at Disney is when we stayed at CSR. We were walking past the outdoor bar area and these men were learing at my 11 year old DD. ELEVEN!! They were clearly impaired. We will never stay there again for that reason. It was a large group of men, I'm guessing a conference. It has kept me away from conference resorts since then, just a different vibe.

This would have bothered me too :(

I couldn't care less . . . as a matter of fact, I like the idea of a poll option saying "I'm glad I can get a drink at WDW."

Just curious why no one who chose another option in the poll (other than the first choice - don't care) has posted their full opinion. Of course everyone is entitled to think what they want, but I personally can't imaging why anyone would be offended by alcohol consumption at WDW. And of course I don't mean falling down, throwing up, obnoxious drink. But I'm just gonna come right out and say it: My husband and I enjoy more than 1 drink on any given day. It's vacation! And we are there on our own; our kids are all grown up.

Now if you want to ask me how I feel about parents drinking constantly when with their small children, that's another story. But that, too, is just my opinion.

I almost got in a fist fight with a drunk hipster at Epcot who decided to it was funny to run into my wife with the wheelchair they were playing with.

It really doesn't bother me as long as they have the sense to enjoy a drink or three and stay sober!

The only place it should not be is the MK, that was Walt's desire, clearly stated many times and its not a big thing to respect the Mans wish's considering all the magic and pixie dust he has given us.

I have only found one time where someone really seemed drunk. Quite a few instances of very tipsy and rather loudly enjoying themselves but only one really drunk.

He was unable to walk straight, slurring words that he was yelling (I think it was something about being mad that some stand wouldn't let him have another beer but honestly I'm not quite sure since it was pretty slurred) He was in Norway out in front of Arkeshus. We went into the store for a minute or two and when we came back he was gone. Not sure if he just left or if Disney escorted him out.

I drink very rarely. Last week we spent 2 days at F & W and since we were staying on property, I had the opportunity to try some wines and other drinks. I'm the designated driver of my family, do if we are there only for the day (local driving home), I do not drink alcohol. Same at home - if there is a likelihood I might have to drive- no drinks. I'm glad to have the chance when I'm on vacation. I understand both sides of the issue, but unless someone is out of control, I'm not bothered by anyone else's drinking.

We saw a group of 4, 2 couples pretty, well 6 sheets to the wind, during F and W. One of the guys staggered to the edge of the pathway and fell into a bush.

Security was apparently following them because in a matter of a few seconds, 2 suits and 2 security guards picked him up and escorted them all out a side gate by England!

Well done Disney security!
