How do you decide?

When taking a picture how do you decide if you're going to take a horizontal or a vertical? I know the obvious ones but like if you're taking a pic of people in the ocean....I've seen both horizontal and vertical ones taken.

Do you have a scrapbook page planned out ahead of time and know you need 3 horizontals and 4 verticals for your 2 page 12x12 layout (for example)

Or do you just snap away and hope for the best?

I take a lot of them both ways so I can use them however I want on the page, somtimes what I want will just come to me and I do the picture that way.

Generally take the pictures both ways, and after I upload my pictures I can decide if they should be portrait or landscape.

The only time I ever took pictures a specific way was for a birthday layout.

I just compose the shot and not worry about the scrap book page. I want the best picture first then I when I go to scrap I decide how I want the lay out to look.

Same here. Sometimes I know I need a certain picture for a certain page, but I am not organized enough to pre plan my pages so severely as to know EXACTLY what I need like that. I might have an idea in my head, but it will changed depending on how the pictures turn out.
