We are planning our first trip to BWV in August as new members. I read that you get trash and towel service on the fourth day. We are staying for one week, can we request to have our towel service on the second day and pay for a full cleaning on the fourth day? One more question, do you really get all of the amenities listed in the book, like spoons, forks, pitcher, etc?
Thanks in advance for help,
Karen :D

Yes, you can request that your T&T day be moved and you can also request that you receive a full cleaning on day 4 (for the appropriate fee).

Yes, the units really are equipped with the listed items. If one or more happen to be missing when you arrive, just call housekeeping. Someone will bring the missing item(s) up to you.

Enjoy your first trip home!

I'm not sure how long your week is...if you will be there 8 nights or more, you will get a full cleaning on the 4th day and then the T&T on the 8th day.

There's just about everything you could imagine in the kitchens. If there's something you'd like that's not there, try asking housekeeping first. They sometimes have even more things available.

Thank you for your helpful information. I'm looking forward to our trip. This board has been very helpful.
Thanks
Karen

Hi everyone! My family just became DVC members yesterday. Our "home" will be the BCVs! We've waited almost 10 years to decide to do this because we were hoping they would build a DVC resort next to YC/BC!! We love it.

Anyway, just yesterday we booked an 8 night stay for 9/02 at BCV's but no one asked us about housekeeping or provided us with any information in regards to items that are available to you in the kitchen. We have a 4 year old and an 8 month infant traveling with us. What do we need to know!!??

Lastly, 4 year old and mother/wife have special dietary restrictions-celiac disease- which prohobits them from eating any foods with gluten (wheats, oat, rye, barley, condiments, flour, etc). Do you have any suggestions as to who we should contact at WDW to help us plan our meals out at which restaurants and is there a better sight that I can post this question to other DIS members? Anyone out there that shares this same disease?

Any information would be helpful.

Just to clarify, the kitchens in the 1BR/2BR/3BR villas are all very well-equipped with utensils, dinnerware, cookware, etc. But the studio mini-kitchens only contain a couple of coffee mugs and glasses... along with a handful of disposable plates and plastic utensils. (...unless something has changed in the last year or so)

The chefs at Disney's sitdown restaurants will be aware of how to prepare gluten-free meals. Folks with PKU need this too. Contact the restaurant chefs at least 24 hours prior to your reservations/priority seating times and ask for recommendations based on your needs. Call 407-WDW-DINE and ask for any specific instructions on how to do this.

You may also find others with special dietary needs and their past experiences by posting to the "Disney Restaurants" forum here. Ask which restaurants were very accommodating and which may have been less so.

DisneyattheHeart, welcome to DVC and to the DIS!

On pages 71-72 of your member guidebook it gives detailed info about what is provided in the villas.

As Lisa P. said, the restaurants are very good about working around special needs. In addition to the Restaurant board here you might find some info on the DISAbilities Board as well.

They don't mention the housekeeping when you make a reservation since they assume as a member you are aware of what you'll be getting. You can always ask them a question if you like. When you receive your confirmation, at the bottom it will not which days you will be receiving T&T or a full cleaning.

Thank you PamOKW and Lisa P. for your information. We have not yet received our membership guide book that you have noted. When should we be receiving ours?

Thanks again for your help. This site is great. I can't go to bed now without checking it out to see what new information has been reported on the BCVs.:D

I'm not sure when you should get the guidebook. Seems like it should come early on in membership. Any new members who can give a timeline for receiving it?

I see you've found how addictive these boards can become....gets us from one WDW trip to the next.

Rather than list everything, the one-bedrooms and up have pretty much a fully stocked kitchen in terms of utensils, kitchenware, pots, etc., etc. There are no foodstuffs provided except for a start-up supply of coffee and tea. So, you'll need to bring/buy your own coffee, sugar, salt/pepper, spices etc. They give you soap and shampoo and provide more on T&T and full cleaning days. They also give you a box of detergent for the washer on T&T or cleaning. If you need more, you'll have to bring or buy your own. They do provide the dishwashing liquid, the dishwasher soap, paper towels, toilet paper and kleenex and will replenish if you run out.

The skillet is non-stick. Some folks bring along their own Teflon coated pans but others manage with what's provided. People sometimes bring bubble bath for the whirlpool. But, a lot of us learned the hard way to use only a very, very small amount or you'll have suds everywhere.

Those are the items I've seen mentioned the most.

We did an add-on of sorts at BCV (it is actually a new contract). Since we already had a Guidebook, I had really forgotten whether we got another one. We did. Karen, I hope you got one too. Ours was included in the Member Documents Kit that had the papers for us to sign to become members - behind the red tab labelled Guidebook. I like those Mickey Mouse ears tabs... Now for a new subject ( I don't know how to do paragraphs yet). PamOKW always gives us such good answers. I read everything I see that she posts and learn alot. Thanks Pam. However, I think the DVC skillets are "stickers", at least when I use them. LOL. So, many of us bring a skillet or at least a Brillo pad. We are furnished with a sponge/scrubber, but IMHO the "sticker" needs more.

Hi, I thought I would post the executive chef's office number, which is (407) 824-5967. People have posted that the chef's office is very helpful. They can tell you what ingredients are in different food items and suggest menu items that would meet the diet restrictions. As others mentioned, the restaurants will make special items on request with 24 hours notice.

We've been members of DVC at OKW for 9 years and have found the kitchens in the 1 and 2 bedroom units to be well stocked, just like everyone else said. Before they stay at DVC, most members think they will miss having maid service every day. After staying, most people find they don't miss it at all. It's pretty easy to just straighten things up a little before you leave for the day. In case you have a major "kids got crumbs all over the floor catastrophe", you have a vaccum cleaner in the closet. Much nicer to just be able to run a vaccuum over it right away than to wait for Housekeeping to come clean it for you.

For DisneyMeMa, glad you've come to the boards. Here's how to make a paragraph:
When you want to make a new paragraph, just hit the return (enter) key on your computer.
It will put your cursor to the beginning of the next line. If you want a space between the lines,

like this,

just press return twice.

;) Go ahead DisneyMeMa, you don't need to be polite. I typed it all wrong. I agree. The pans "are a pain" NOT Non-Stick. And I've been known to put a teflon coated pan in my luggage, too.  That's what I meant to say but I typed it VERY wrong.

I pack a teflon pan, PAM spray and a Brillo Pad! My gang loves fried eggs and I don't do the dishes so I try to make it easier for them to clean up!
