Me too!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2:thumbsup2
We'll clean up after ourselves & take out our own trash! Just leave us some extra detergent for the dishwasher & washing machine!!

I don't even care about the detergent or soap etc. We have the owners locker and keep it in there, we run dishwasher and laundry multiple times a day. Just PLEASE GIVE ME A CLEAN WORKING ROOM and a close place to throw out the trash, then stay out!!!

When I am on vacation, I love to have a clean room every day. As a mom of two small kids, its about the only time I get cleaness on a daily basis! Any-hoo - Being a new DVC person, I understand that I will not get the cleaning on a daily basis unless I am willing to pay for it.

The one I voted for was daily clean towels. Like you said, it's just one of those nice things on vacation. We don't need a lot of other cleaning as we eat most meals out - another one of our vacation perks. We may opt for the extra mousekeeping service the next time, if just for clean towels. I did not think of the trash service with diapers, as we joined DVC after our dds were out of diapers.

Last year we stayed at a KY resort where you would leave your "dirty" linen in a basket outside the door.

Which resort in KY did you stay? I travel a lot in state and was just curious.

The daily clean towels thing seems to be similar to the way people use their towels at home too. If you look at poll #1, it's similar.

Good morning! We stayed in one of the cabins at Cumberland Falls State Park. We chose the park as a halfway (sort-of) point to meet and visit with relatives from Florida. It was a very relaxing visit. Adults and children alike found plenty of fun stuff to do, swimming, hiking, education programs, etc. The staff was great and the cabin was very clean. I posted a report on TripAdvisor with photos of our cabin. :goodvibes

Oh, the resort is located in a dry county which some of our party did not know until they arrived and tried to buy wine at a local grocery.

Personally I would have rather gone to Disney but I was unwilling to spend my points for the size villa we would have needed for the whole crew.

We've been to the lake there and have camped there (a long time ago before children) and it is really fun. KY really has some nice state parks. The dry county thing is such a bother, sorry to hear that. Fortunately, KY has really small counties (120 total in the state), some that you can drive through in 20 minutes. It would be a short drive to a wet county, but they probably don't post that info for you. Glad to hear you had a good trip. I agree, WDW is a much better vacation.

Let's leave Kentucky and get this thread back on topic. The only reason I would be opposed to daily clean towels is that it is an unecessary expense for owners. If YOU require clean towels daily, then you can wash them yourself in the provided free laundry.

I expect to walk into a fully cleansed and preferably sanitized villa. After that, I like what they do with now - every four days refresher works great for us! I think the only thing I would add to what they do currently is have trash pickup outside the door daily, if needed. (someone would come around and take out the trash if left outside). Other than that we're happy with what we get! :thumbsup2

Nah, I don't need that. It's no big deal for me to walk it to the trash room on my way out.

Diane - this is fun!!! I apologize in advance - I have OCD!!! But even with my issues I have yet to have a horrible experience at DVC. We have been lucky to have clean rooms and although I have OCD - I am also logical in the fact that the bedspreads DO NOT always get changed/washed I just remove them as soon as we get there. I expect the villa to be clean - kitchen/bathroom/vaccum/towels fresh/fresh linens prior to my arrival - then I am fine with maintaining my own space until we leave.

This poll will deal with your DVC accommodations and what you expect from housekeeping.

I would love for DVC to publish some "official" guidelines that specify what we can expect them to take care of and what we, as members, are expected to deal with on our own. That simple thing would eliminate a lot of the confusion, and therefore, false expectations regarding housekeeping and maintenance. Because, ultimately, who really cares what the expectations of one member as opposed to another are. That's just too subjective to be of any use to anyone.

And really, members should not have to debate and speculate about what DVC's responsibility is in these areas. If it's spelled out, then that's the end of the discussion. Either it's their responsibility or it's ours. Lacking any such commitment from TPTB however, I fear the housekeeping debates will rage on forever.

ETA:
By official guidelines, I mean what can we expect when we check-in to a DVC room.

Actually, I think for the most part they do spell at least part of it out with the housekeeping schedule. Those other details that we all wonder about in this poll SHOULD be spelled out. In fact, maybe that's a good thing for all of us to do. If each of us who had a concern wrote to Member Satisfaction and voiced that we want to know what we SHOULD expect from housekeeping, then I think it might spur DVC on to set up some specific guidlines of expectations.

See, they have to know we have concerns if they are ever going to address them.

They know of the concerns, trust me. They just choose not to act on them.

The housekeeping concerns, in-stay, I think are pretty well spelled out already, but not of extreme importance to the majority of folks who responded to your polls. It's what they do to prepare the room for the initial occupancy that needs clarification. What are they willing to commit to, ie how clean is clean? That's all I'm saying.

Is surface clean their commitment to members? Then what is the remedy when surfaces aren't clean? We don't know, because DVC doesn't choose to comment on these issues. Is it the members responsibility to inventory all unit items and notify DVC when there are missing things? Some of us here think so, but DVC is mum on the subject. Are members expected to test all appliances to determine whether they are functional and then notify DVC of any discovered problems? I don't know and neither does anyone else here because we have no published responsibilities of members or DVC.

Just tell me what (specifically) DVC will be willing to do and what I am expected to do. That doesn't seem like a difficult thing.

Exactly.

I also only need a very clean and sanitized villa at check-in. We also keep up the kitchen and baths on a daily basis.....I come prepared with my Clorox wipes. We wash our towels every other day, vacuum if needed.....I've also washed the kitchen floor on occasion, and our trash/recyclables go to the trash room every evening before bedtime if we've had dinner in our villa or the next morning on our way out if we had dinner out. I actually would prefer no trash and towel day, but, again I DO want the place very clean when I move in....and sometimes that hasn't happened. When we moved into BLT 2 bdrm lockoff this past January the kitchen looked like it hadn't even been touched.......greasy cooktop, streaky fingerprints on dishwasher panel, fridge and stove front and those dark cabinets and the kitchen sink had a greasy film also. I cleaned everything and ran all dishes and utensils through the dishwasher before I would use the kitchen. The bathrooms were OK.....at least they looked like they had been cleaned.....but, I wiped everything anyway with my trusty Clorox wipes.

I've been known to wash the kitchen floor when we arrived too.

BTW, I think the mousekeepers need to have a bit more training. When I asked for a full cleaning at AKV in 2009 so the villa would be made fresh for our new 2nd bedroom guests, they didn't do a very good job. I made them come back and redo it, and I happened to be there when she came to do it. Her idea of mopping the kitchen was to take a DRY mop and push the stuff onto the carpet and then vacuum the carpet. No wonder the floors and carpets are so bad!
