I would give up the trash and towel day in exchange for a cleaner unit upon arrival and 3 towels per guest provided in the room upon arrival.

This could be done, we have to give the names of the guests when making reservation, so occupancy is not a mystery, at least certainly shouldn't be.

What's the big deal about taking our trash anyway? We just bring stuff to the chute ourselves.

I really don't like housekeeping knocking on our door when we are trying to get ready in the am to leave. It slows me down!

Interesting that you feel you aren't getting a clean room on arrival. So far these polls seem to indicate that most feel they are getting an adequately cleaned room on arrival...I totally agree with that, since I've never felt there was anything substandard about the housekeeping.

For my money, I think the issue is more not keeping up with the routine maintenance than it is with guest to guest cleaning. Perhaps those are related...not sure.

I'm not sure I agree with 3 towels per guest though either. I have a washer and dryer in my unit, why should I have so many additional towels? I have no problems washing them myself should I need to do that.

I just want it clean on the day I check in.
That says it all for me, I can keep it maintained after that. To date I've had clean rooms, including bath & kitchen. My typical stay is 5 nights, I vacuum myself if it needs it, I wash towels if necessary and I clean the kitchen and take out the trash as I go.

For that matter, I really don't need towels or trash on the 4th day.

Okay, so this poll could have been written a little bit differently for me. When I am on vacation, I love to have a clean room every day. As a mom of two small kids, its about the only time I get cleaness on a dailiy basis! :lmao: Plus, the very extra added bonus... I did not have to do or yell at anyone to get them to clean up there mess! :lmao:

Any-hoo - Being a new DVC person, I understand that I will not get the cleaning on a daily basis unless I am willing to pay for it. BUT, I do think that a full week before a full mousekeeping is a bit long. Especially, when you have kids. The last thing I want to do is come back from the parks and clean!

I have also discovered that 4 days before T&T service is too long for my family. Mainly, the trash part. Especailly with a LO still in diapers.

So, you guessed it, we opt to pay for service.

We recently came back from 8 days staying at a Jambo House studio, and i have to say was disappointed with the housekeeping. We returned back from our 4th day at the park, and the ONLY reason I knew that someone had been in the room was that ONE of the three small trash bins had been emptied. The other two were still full. Nothing else appeared to have been touched. Now i am not too concerned about the room being spotless during our stay, and we were confused as to whether it should have been a full clean or trash/towel  as we had originally booked 7 days and waitlisted the 8th which came through for us. On our 7th day mousekeeping arrived to do a trash and towel and could not believe that we had no coffee/sugar, towels, or linen change. On this day, the lady was excellent and reported the fact that we had nothing up to that point during our stay.
My concern is that if the first maid considers emptying one small bin to be a full clean, what are our dues paying for?

I would be happy if they just emptied garbage every couple days. :confused3

I just like to come back to a clean studio so I'm willing to pay the extra. I'm on vacation and don't want to re-use towels or make the bed.

I agree, as long as when I walk in the villas for the first time it is cleaned throughout, I don't need anything from housekeeping.

We don't even ask for trash and towel. We wash the towels as needed and carry out the trash daily.

I just want it clean on the day I check in.

Ditto!!!!

Part of what I like about DVC is the fact that it is our "home" away from home. I don't have someone come in to my home on a daily basis and I don't expect it while on vacation. What I do expect is to have a good thorough cleaning done prior to my arrival and then after my departure. During my stay we have no problem doing it ourselves. One point, they need to leave the same number of dishwasher powder packets for the same number of days between cleanings!

You don't wait a full week for full housekeeping if you stay eight nights or more. Then you get a full cleaning on day four. Then you get trash and towel service on day eight.

If you stay seven nights or fewer, you get trash and towel service on day four. No full housekeeping service at all.

You can always train the kiddos to pickup after themselves while on vacation to give Mom a vacation. Make them earn those souveniers. ;)

I usually cancel the trash and towel day. Rather just have them clean when I depart. I don't need three towels per person. Two would be nice especially the wash cloths or dish towels. We usually wash do always have fresh towels ran out of wash cloths too often and now have a 1/2 dozen extra in OL.

I wouldn't mind the flat sheets so much if the housekeepers would just all learn how to mitre the corners so they didn't come untucked so easily. I get frustrated when the housekeepers just tuck everything...bottom, top and blankets all in together. There is no way you can turn down the bed without pulling everything (including the bottom sheet) out.

:worship: THANK YOU...I so agree.

I would have liked to see "I want a very clean room when I check in and then stay out and clean up for the next person after I leave"

Yes, I do agree. I expect the room and dishes to be spotless when I arrive. After that I do not need housekeeping. I would rather keep it clean myself.

Last year we stayed at a KY resort where you would leave your "dirty" linen in a basket outside the door. What you left (towels, sheets, etc) they would replace in the basket with the addition of new soaps, coffee, etc.. I really liked their format. I know Disney cannot have dirty laundry hanging around outside the doors but I guess I am saying, while I do not need housekeeping I would appreciate restocking occasionally, esp soaps, tp, etc. I can wash the linens myself.

Actually, I feel that way too. I can't honestly say we ever had a horrible dirty room though. That's saying something after 13+ years of multiple trips a year. I actually often have them skip the T&T day by leaving a do not disturb sign on the door.

Me too! I've grown to really like having Mousekeeping stay out, we don't need/want someone there daily. I never realised how much until we stayed AKV-concierge, between Mousekeeping and turn down service we had some sort of conflict nearly every day.

We usually stay 7 days so we do not get the full cleaning unless we pay for it.

Kids are a little over 1 and 4. The 1 year obviously doesn't understand anything other than throw it on the floor. The training process is well underway but, as anyone with kids these ages will attest, it's a struggle.

We'll clean up after ourselves & take out our own trash! Just leave us some extra detergent for the dishwasher & washing machine!!
