Today's Topic (Sun, 5/11) - any 3 people (mom's or not) who have: Listened to you
Held your hand
Taken care of you
Cheered you on
Imparted wisdom,
Or just made you feel loved
This is a hard one for me. I'll have to think about it. We were pretty isolated when we were growing up, as my mom had her issues with "extended family" after my father died. I've also had two disastrous personal relationships so find it hard to trust and confide in people. I am OK with this, but answering today's question is challenging, at best.
Dad is such a gift of God's grace to me as were my grandparents and Champ.
Many kind people in this horribly run rehab and some who will always have a place in my grateful heart.
I was blessed for a few years to be part of a small, close-knit church choir.
I will always remember the friendship and kindness of my orthodontist's assistant during my high school years. B and I became close and I even baby-sat her daughter.
Thank you all for your honesty..so I am not fearful to post here
Made you feel loved...my grandmother ... she only had one child and my mother left Oregon and moved back to Joshua Tree after divorce settlement and last child graduation... leaving my grandmother in Oregon..3 months later I made a 80 mile roundtrip every Sunday to attend church and spend all day with her.. from January 1977 to November of 1981 when I joined the army. Every Sunday I had a pie to take back to the apartment and left overs. Long before that she had spoiled me with my class ring and expensive backpack tent.
In the army I was a prolific letter writer be it carbon copies or Xerox copies... but my grandmother was the only one who consistently wrote back 3-4 a month...be it a 3x5 note card and newspaper photos...my dysfunction parents didn't even remember my birthdays
My only regret was that I didn't take her out for meals... watching my family fall apart.. I learned that money was for saving not spending
My DH- maybe not the highest score in listening , but he was amazing during my radiation treatments. He was also a great labor and birth coach when I had my daughter.
My S-I-L is my confidant and a wonderful listener and support system.
I was fortunate to have 2 motherly mothers-in-law. They treated me in ways I had never experienced with my own mom.
1. My mom, of course.
2. My maternal grandma, "Nana" (she was the only grandparent I knew. All my other grandparents died before I was born.)
3. Just.... so many others. Aunts, cousins, teachers, friends' moms.... I could go on.
Good Monday Morning and Happy Belated Mother’s Day to all the moms
#1 - Calculators - I must must must have a calculator. I am not fast with mental math and I don’t trust myself with the answer I come up with. Calculators are my math security blanket.
#2 - Digital Alarm Clocks - I have 2 in my bedroom. Our hotel room did not have one this past weekend and I didn’t like that. I wouldn’t have used the alarm clock, but it would have been nice to see the time without having to look at my phone.
#3 - TV Remote - Always grateful for the TV remote. I always know how grateful when the battery dies.
Clocks I love old fashion clocks - I gave a clock in every room in my house - I like the old fashion ones not digital
10 key calculator on my computer keyboard- since I do accounting I love having the 10 key on the keyboard and not having to mess with the numbers at the top
I also love my little 10 key calculator and my old fashion plug in 10 key calculator
The dashboard on my car - it tells you your tire pressure how much oil life you have left it tells you all kinds of things and if you wanna pay attention I’ll tell you how fast you’re going
The Blue Bags - There are these cheap blue bags that many of the college kids use for moving and storage. I just moved DD18 out of her dorm last week and those same blue bags (as well as some new ones) were just as helpful getting her stuff together and making it home as they were getting her there.
Phone Planner/Calendar - This is how I know when things are happening. If it's not in there and my alerts aren't properly set, I will likely forget unless it's something I'm eagerly anticipating.
Robot Vacuum - He's not the smartest thing but with the dog shedding the way she is right now, it's nice to be able to set the robot free to pick up all of the fluffy tumbleweeds.

Numbers
Nutritional Labels - While I've been focusing heavily on whole foods, it's hard to avoid some packaged things. So labels help me calculate to stay on track.
Phone - I appreciate all of the things my phone can do that involves numbers.
Microwave - From the numeric power settings to the time settings, it's all numbers.
