hotels in Va Beach

I just found out we have to make a trip to Va Beach in early Aug. for family vacation. DH's family is staying in a rental home in Sandbridge. Renting a home will not really work for us. Can anyone reccommend a cheap, but clean hotel. We have 2A and 5C. I have a rate of $110 at a Rodeway Inn, but on travelocity there were 2 negative reports. Any suggestions would be very helpful, even if they let me know where not to stay. Thanks.

Where is the Rodeway Inn located? Are you looking to stay oceanfront? When are you going?

We will be going Aug 7th for about 5 nights(or Aug 14th for 5 nights) if all goes well with getting off work. The Rodeway Inn is at 1005 Pacific Ave. It is a block back from the beach. We don't have to be oceanfront as we will be at Sandbridge most of the days. We just really want something clean(and cheap if possible. Thanks.

Are you willing to look "out of the box" ? If so, how about a cabin at a campground? We are staying at the Virginia Beach KOA when we go down in a couple weeks for my nieces wedding. I can't guarentee it will be clean, but almost. KOA's are famous for cleanliness and we have never been disappointed, just haven't ever stayed at this particular one before.

The large cabin has two sets of bunk-beds and a double bed.We have the smaller cabin, one set of bunk-beds and a double. I believe we are paying about $70 a night,but we are KOA members so we get a small discount. You can look it up on the internet at www.koa.com or call them at 1-757-428-1444.They are not directly on the beach,but pretty darn close. Good luck!

Ah good point about a campground. My uncle has a camper just outside of Sandbridge and they have pretty nice cabins there. I think they are $45 a night. There is a nice shower house with laundry facilities and a nice pool. It's very quiet.

Let me see if I can find a link and I'll post it. Or I'll get more info from my dad. I think it's call North Bay Shores. Let me see what I can find. They might also rent campers but I'm not sure. We've stayed in the cabins and they are very comfortable.

Here's one link for North Bay Shores Campground - it does have a topographical map that I looked at to make sure I was looking at the right place and that was right. Sandbridge is just south of the campground (I've gone through the town but I get lost on my N, S, E, W when I get out there).

The only downfall is that there is no air conditioning in the cabins. There are ceiling fans, if I remember right, and they are shaded. Dad said he thinks the bedrooms have air conditioning but he's not sure.
