Hotel suggestions for Gainesville,Fla?

We have decided to start our vacationa day early, and do most of our driving that day.DH would like to stop in Gainesville,Fla for the night and then only have a couple more hours to go the next morning.

Can anyone suggest a hotel in Gainesville?

I've been on trip advisor for the past couple of days looking, but just when I think I have found something, I read a bad review

I figured there would be a diser or two with some advice for me ;-)

North to south:

SR 222/39th Avenue exit: Best Western Gateway Grand gets really good reviews.
SR 26/Newberry Road exit: Fairfield Inn, Holiday Inn, LaQuinta are all good. Mall at this exit.
SR 24/Archer Road exit: Lots of options here: Holiday Inn Express, Hampton Inn, Red Roof Inn, Super 8, Motel 6. Wal-Mart & Target at this exit. Lots of restaurants.
SR 121/Williston Road: Can't recommend anything at this exit

If the night of your stay is on a Gator home football weekend, forget it. If the town is not already sold out, the rates are crazy. If you arrive early enough, drive over to the UF campus and Lake Alice to see lots of gators swimming about.
