Hollywood Studios today may 4th

I think josh and touringplans both got it wrong today. Neither made mention of "may the 4th be with you" kind of unofficial Star Wars day. It was supposed to be a 2/10 by touringplans and I believe was most recommended by Josh. It felt much busier than that. For comparisons sake, we had been at animal kingdom yesterday and magic kingdom day before that and while I wouldn't call them quiet, they certainly didn't feel crowded either.

Anyone else agree or disagree who was there?

Not sure why they gave it a 2/10 for the day, but we were there specifically for May the 4th and kind of knew if would be Star Wars busy, however it wasn't as crowded as I thought it would be. I thought May 1st was a lot worse.

TP's crowd calendar is based on attraction wait times, not how crowded a park feels. So there could have been a lot of people there for the trivia contest, buying merchandise and going to the SW character meals. But unless they all got in line for attractions and drove up wait times, the crowd calendar number wouldn't rise.

That just proves what I've always felt: Touring plans are now obsolete. With special events and FP+, history means nothing and while it may be good to reference, paying for any of those plans is a waste of money. Here's the only touring plan info anyone needs: Are kids in school? It's not that busy. Are kids out? It's busy. Get to the park at opening and do whatever you want.

IMO, they have been a little low on crowd predictions since January, but the one thing that they get right almost every day is the park to avoid. They miss every once in a while, but this is pretty reliable and very helpful.

That is really all that I look for - park to avoid and why. Even in two trips that year this has helped me immensely. But I have never used them for a ride by ride plan. We don't tour that way - never have.

We ended up not going to DHS yesterday, because of the Star Wars stuff. I was worried it would be a madhouse, especially with it being the first sunny day after 3 straight days of rain... sounds like I made a good choice.

I believe Josh said his numbers were based on Disney's predicted attendance #'s over a rolling 12-18 month period.
If the parks are busier, overall...what is now considered a 2 might have been a called a 5, ten years ago.

We specifically avoided the Disney parks and headed to Universal. Personally I thought DHS would be a zoo yesterday... no crowd calendar needed.

We were at DHS yesterday morning to use a FP for Tower or Terror before we departed for home . Park seemed really crowded. Standby wait for Tower of Terror around 10AM was 50 minutes, which struck me as high.
