Holding dual park pass reservations

We are staying on site and have already booked our park passes as resort guests. We are also APs. I just booked a 2nd park pass for one day of our stay in May and both show in my plans. If this is a way around the park hopping at 2:00 p.m., I am thrilled! We, but for weekends, like to hop to Epcot for lunch at the kiosks which hasn't been possible since pre-Covid. I may let this ride and see if it works at getting us into Epcot that day prior to 2:00 p.m.

So…assuming the double-booking works/continues to work, the next question is…how do you approach Genie + if using it (as in, would it only allow reservations at the second park after 2)? But that’s really getting into the weeds.

I just booked park reservations for late September and early October--I was not able to duplicate the double park reservation I currently hold for May. When I try to book a second park as an AP, the date is no longer available to me (despite being available to all)--the date of the vacation is greyed out and can't be clicked to reserve even with an AP. Bummer--hopefully early PHing returns before then. The May double reservation continues to be active.

Disney has probably discovered the loophole.

I'm a little confused here.

The loophole is having one reservation in the old AP system and one in the new AP system. If you just booked September and October, then you wouldn't be able to double it - that new reservation would be in the new system. It was no longer possible to "double up" on new AP reservations after the new AP system went live (six weeks ago). The loophole has just been for people who booked reservations in the old system.

Were you staying on site - guess what I’m asking is, did the res show up, or did you make it? Many thanks for this report!
We were staying on site and our initial reservation was connected to the resort stay. The second reservation just showed up as a ‘bonus reservation’

I don’t know about anyone else, but this isn’t the case for my sister. She still has two doubled up days upcoming, all recently booked (in one case, I’m 100000% certain it was after the new system went live because she added the extra day/night 2 1/2 weeks ago). Anyways, seems like a glitch, although I personally think Disney should consider allowing APs to the early parkhop benefit when staying on site if availability allows it —- but that is a whole other can of worms.

Trust me, I double booked a park reservation (MK and Epcot) for our May trip right after I read this thread on October 27, 2021. That double still stands in my park reservations. I was not able to duplicate the process when, yesterday, I attempted to do so with our September/October 2022 park reservations. It would not allow me to book as an AP even though our park pass was in the hotel guest bucket.

Agreed on both counts! I double booked mine for May on 10/27/21 and on 11/2/21, was not able to do so. Appears the glitch/loophole, or whatever it may have been, has been closed.

It still works: I just added 2nd park reservations for days in our trip next week. Original park reservations were made back in March with the old park reservation system.

the EPCOT reservation was made in March, Magic Kingdom was made using the new park reservation system:

The double I was attempting to book was for our September/October 2022 trip. These park reservations were booked on 11/2/21 and I was not able to make a double. Both the original and attempted double would be in the "new" system since it was 11/2/21, correct?

The May 2022 trip reservations would have been booked in June 2021--old system?

I guess what I am saying is that when working with strictly the new system--the glitch/loophole has been closed. Or at least that is the way it seems. :confused3

I confirmed my own query--I am still able to double book for May 2022, but not October 2022--those dates are greyed out and unavailable to me as an AP.

Yes, you are correct, I believe that the double can only happen for days when park reservations were made with the "old" system. Seems like the new system doesn't recognize the reservations made with the old system. Weird.

Yes - that's what I was trying to get at.

You can tell the difference between the new system and the old system in rick1zoo2's screenshot above. The old system reservation says "Park Open to Close", the new system reservation says "Nov 12".

What I meant above - I'm surprised if anyone was ever able to double-up a "new" reservation - ie, one made only on the new system. When I added park reservations in the new system back in late September, the dates were immediately grayed out when I tried to add the next one.

I totally stand corrected if someone was able to do a double reservation in the new system. (I would then wonder if there was a specific situation involved: ie, one of them was in the hotel bucket, the other was in the AP bucket.)

Having said that, if anyone still has old reservations that have not yet been doubled - ie, ones that say "Park Open to Close" - those (in theory) might still be double-able, assuming they haven't fixed that.
