Hi All,

DH & I (BW owners) are planning our 1st trip to HH late this July. We're from NJ. I don't relish a long drive. Anyone from Central NJ here that could let me know how long the drive actually is? Anyone fly to Myrtle Beach from Atlantic City and drive from there? If so, is it actually 4 hours? Any good rates or carriers to Savannah from our area?

My parents are thinking about coming with us. Mom (70) does not do well in the heat and thinks it may be too hot for her. I don't want to talk her into coming if in fact it will be and she sits inside while we are out and about. (I'd feel so guilty.) Are there activities in air conditioning that a not-very-active person could find to do? It doesn't have to be actually in the resort.

As you can see, I'm not sure about these plans. But, we've either given points or taken other family members to DW and they are not big fans, so we're trying to think of another way to include them in our vacations.

Thoughts?

To fly into Myrtle would mean a long drive to HHI. Sav. or HHI would be much closer. July is pretty hot and sticky. I like to go in Sep after labor day and Oct. It is still warm, but not the heat of summer. Your Mom knows her body and what she can take. If she thinks it will be too hot it could very well be for her. As far as indoor fun things, I can't think of anything that I have done indoors (other than our room). I only eat outside on patios at HHI.

If you can try for Oct. I think she will love it.

HHI is extremely hot and humid (sticky) in late July. My mom doesn't get out much while we are there, and I wind up feeling guilty if I leave the villa during the day. I try to go to the pool or beach before she gets up. LOL! Last year we went in mid-June, and for some reason, it was not miserable yet. We sat on the balcony quite a bit in late afternoon. It was much better than previous trips in July. HTH

May or late September/early October would probably be better for the weather. You can pretty much be assured of sunny skies...and it will be a lot less humid. The ocean will be warmer in the fall than in the Spring.

We went to HHI in July a few years ago...and even I was miserable!

Thank you all for your input. You have me rethinking this trip. I am a school librarian, so September is not an option. And I'm taking 2 days off on the beginning of the Columbus Day weekend to go to DW. That is all I can take (and even that is pushing it) during the school year.

We'll have to work on this - hmmm, what to do with the expiring points???

How about late August in HH? I know it will be 90* plus, but what about the humidity? DW and I went BC (before children) once the week after Labor day and it was beautiful....
