Why would the dems rejecting her in this go-around would have been more supportive to her then? She would have had even less experience then...... plus the war was supposedly raging - they would have made mince meat of her then ..........

Remember the climate. And the economy then was "ok."

Because a lot of us don't see voting against her as "rejecting" her. We just prefer her opponent. I think if you look back, many of us have lamented having to make the choice between the two. It's honestly not that we dislike her (personally or on the issues). Just that we happen to like him better (personally or on the issues).

I'm not going to debate on this thread, but I do want to point out that Obama isn't Monday Morning Quarterbacking. He gave a speech back around the time of the vote that denounced the idea of going into Iraq. Anyone saying he's trying to jump in now and say that he was against it then when he really wasn't is simply misinformed. Even Hillary has acknowledged that, by the way.

That's not the point. Here you have a man making a lot of promises, yet he has shown that responsibilities and promises do not mean that much to him when his ambition leads him elsewhere.

She, on the other hand has incredible ambition (no one will argue that) but her sense of responsibility and her desire to keep promises held her back from running in 2004.

Was it her sense of responsibility, or was it her feeling that it wasn't her time and that she couldn't win in 2004? I tend to think the latter, but I don't hold that against her. I think she and her staff felt that 2004 was too close to Bill's administration and more time needed to pass for people to see her as a separate entity from him, and they were probably right.

It might be my NJ cynicism rearing it's ugly head, but I'm not really going to credit her decision not to run in 2004 ONLY to her sense of responsiblility and desire to keep a promise. I think if she had thought she could win in 2004, she'd have done it.

I agree that 2004 would not have been a good year for her or Obama to run. It was open to the Rep and as mentioned the economy was balanced at that time for the most part.

This is was the right time to run. People want change are so sick opf bush and are ready to except theses 2 candidates.

In 2004 also many voted for Bush again because they did not want to change chiefs in the middle of a war. Who knows maybe that was part of Bushy baby's agenda. When I look at him I cant help but laugh. He seems like such a dweeb....He reminds me of the movie Dumb and Dumber, that would be Bushy baby and cheney....

That is so driving many of us(Hillary supporters) crazy. Even Dh who is a Rep (Will be voting for Hillary is she gets the nod)said that before he decided to vote for her. He was for McCain and changed his mind the more he watched the debates the more he likes Hillary.

As I drove home from work this am, it took 3 hours (snow storm) I normally listen to Howard Stern in the am, but since he is on vaca, I put the Sirius radio on the LEFT channel (liberal talk)...WOW the Liberal Talk show host dont like Obama...at all. I didnt know that.

One guy brought up a interesting notion in regards to Obama badgering Hillary for her vote to support the war.

1) Obama is being a Monday morning Quarterback
2) 95% of Americans (based on what we were told) supported the War, and if you didnt you were labeled a traitor
3) If Obama was a Senator then, and it was the Sears Tower in Chicago that the terrorist hit....YOU CAN BET YOUR BOTTOM DOLLAR he too would have voted like Hillary. Cause it would have directly affected his consituients!
4) If Obama was so "Anti War" why has he never organized a protest????

I thought these were all valid points.

Anyhooooooooooo I predict Hillary will win Texas, Ohio & Pa...and in a BIG way! Hopefully in the next week & half we can all crack the Obama Code!

The Texas two step has never been an issue before only because the nominees have been decided long before we got to vote here. Usually, only the die-hards show up for the precinct caucuses. Polls will close at 7 pm and caucus will start at 7:15.

Honestly, I didn't know that Texas did a caucuses... where have I been? At least I know now to show up for both.

Ok, I know I said I'd stay away, but since I'm agreeing with you, I didn't think anyone would mind too much.
That's not even the worst part (although, it is pretty bad). The worst part is that you can vote in the primary...and then go and vote in the caucus!!!. They care so much about the vote, they get to do it twice!

You know, I quoted that b/c I had a response ... that I've now forgotten.. Oh well. I'll try not to forget who I voted for at 7am for the primary by the time I show up that evening for the caucus.

I dunno...I'm thinking they vote during the day, and then they use the "caucus" as an excuse to get together that night for some beer and BBQ.

Sorry. For what it's worth, I can sympathize. As a West Virginian, I'm surrounded by some of the most socially conservative people in the country (it used to be a blue state, but only because of the unions).

Still...you did inflict Dubya on us. I'm not sure there's any forgiving that.

The media has already picked the next candidate, and guess what, he's the one who has the best soundbites. Hillary's more nuanced position is a lot more difficult to explain.

Add me to the number that agrees with this. And who says the media isn't biased? They help control the voting. I don't believe that the average American researches why they vote for a certain candidate - they'll just see the highlights and the sway from the media to form their opinion.


Also, to whoever stated about registered voting vs. voting in Texas: I'm a registered Republican yet I plan to vote for Hilary in the Democratic primary – as well do I expect to be voting for the Democratic candidate in the general election. (I don’t want McCain) I'm glad that I have the option to vote for who I think the best candidate is and not be required to stick to my party.

Most of the hosts on Air America and the Jones Radio network are anti-Hillary. I told my friend Barb that it was all propaganda and that she was drinking too much of their kool-aid . I do listen to the local Leftie channel here in Madison and I hear it all the time. I take everything with a huge block of salt ... especially when they start using the Rush Limbaugh "It's just entertainment" explanation of why they do what they do. I especially HATE Ed Shultz and have been boycotting him for the last 3 weeks. I just had enough of him and his Hillary bashing. I am back to listening to Talk of the Nation in the afternoon on NPR.

(1) My friend Rona has been a Hillary supporter for a long time. She said that Hillary would come out with details about one thing or another and *poof* 2-3 days later Obama came out with his details. Sometimes the same details. I have not been following the two campaigns enough to know if it is true or not.

(2)(3) Very true. I never supported the war, but I know that I was in the minority. If Obama was in the senate and he was given the same information that Hillary was given then he too would have supported the war. I think it's really disingenuous for him to use that against her.

(4) I don't think I could expect that out of him.

If they say Obama has a big lead in Texas wouldn't that make her supporters more likely to go vote? IMO it use to, but there is so much talk about how Hillary cant beat McCain so when some Hillary supporters hear this, than it makes some Hillary supporters jump ship in fear of having another REP. and they think well "What if" that is true....

Even me as a BIG Hillary supporter for a couple days questioned that. But than I came back to reality and will not change my mind again.

What is your opinions on the you tube video....seems to be the premise of so much talk. Also they were talking about the blunder that Obama said during the debate about the story of the guy in the military...I just caught a little bit of it on the MSNBC it was a brief remark....

Why is all the news today on how HILLARY ATTACKS OBAMA......I think attacks is a harsh word yet nothing about a few of his digs and only a very short mention of his blunder

I have bee reading the Conservative thread and they are all talking over there that if we have to have a DEM POTUS they are hoping it is not Obama but would choose Hillary over him. They are also stating that they feel sorry for Hillary that even the have seen that she is not getting a break for anything.

Yet all the Reports are that Obama will bring together the REP and DEMs but I think that is starting to change.

Lately - I've quit listening to Air America (Randi Rhodes & Rachel Maddow) - until the primaries are over. They are biased toward Obama. Makes me sad - and I hate to be sad - so I stay away. I also have to stay away from Huffington Post and dailykos - as they are really anti-Hillary - in fact HuffPo went negative on her early on........

I think that is fueling his latest support. Some people on the fence hear that he's leading and he's going to win - so they vote for him - cause they want to vote for a winner........

Hillary's lead is shrinking in TX and OH.......
