HH in December-what to expect

Hey guys! We are going to Hilton Head between Christmas and New Years and will be ringing in the new year there. Can anyone tell me what kind of activities/weather we can expect that time of year? We would love to grill out if it's not too cold. Of course, we would also enjoy the dolphin cruise if that's an option!

The temps can be anywhere between freezing to the low 80s. We were there Xmas 2001 and in the 10 days there the maximum temp varied from low 50s to high 70s. We went on the dolphin cruise on one of the warmer days , but the seabreeze really was chilly. You definately need fleeces as a minimum at that time of year. You don't say if you have kids but there was quite a few evening kids activities ( bowling, movies, pizza etc) we tied one of those in with the cheese and wine pairing/tasting run by Chef Gordon which worked well. He runs a number of cookery and wine related activities that are good fun.

The weather should be great - Decembers are usually still warm in SC. I have spent many December days on the beach or out on a boat 100 miles north of HH. I would definitely bring some warm clothes for the evenings/early morning walks on the beach - but you'd be remiss if you didn't pack some shorts and a bathing suit as well.

We have been there at that time 4 times. One really cold(30-40) but most were pleasant and some in high60's-70. Definitely not beach swimming , but DS(12) has been in the pool many times. There are also alot of activities; campfire, kids NYEve party, goofy bingo, cel painting, marsh explorations. dining at Shelter Cove we recomment Scott Fish Market(its a restaurant not market) and it is wonderful as was Kingfisher and the Mexican Place. Old Oyster Factory further on the island is great also. We love this time of year there. Walking the beach is great, even in jackets and gloves!
