Hey Snoopy! How 'bout Favorite Tear Jerkers?

8 Seconds. Based on the life story of bull rider Lane Frost starring Luke Perry.

Two sad movies I refuse to watch:

Pay it Forward
City of Angels (with Meg Ryan and Nicholas Cage)

and one I still love:

"With Honors" (Brendan Frasier and Joe Pesci)

The Champ

I've only seen the version with Jon Voight and Ricky (now Rick) Schroder, but it gets me every time. DH and I watched it a few weeks ago, and he was sniffling too.

Yes! I'm sorry that has become the story of your life! :(

YES!! Oh lord, that was sad!! I think i actually had a crying jag with that one..especially at the end when they are showing actual pictures and playing "The Dance"

Field of Dreams

I start getting goosebumps during Terence Mann's speech about how baseball has marked the time. Then when Ray gets to play catch with his Dad one more time, I lose it. It's such a wonderful tale of redemption told through my favorite game. It emphasizes what I love about the game.....the history and the common thread through generations. One of my favorite things in the world is to watch a ball game with my Dad. When you put all that together in a beautifully crafted cinematic moment, I'll be moved to tears.

Another one that is emotionally tolling for me is The Shawshank Redemption. I find it very difficult to get through that movie, even though its beautifully written and acted.

Some others that came to me after I posted: The Color Purple, Kramer vs Kramer, On Golden Pond, Avalon.

But I can't believe I forgot my all-time biggest tear-jerker, and that was Philadelphia. I literally was wrecked after that movie for several days -- I could not even get out of my bed. Tom Hanks portrayal of a man fighting Aids and fighting to keep his job just sent me over the edge, that coupled with the fact my best friend was in the end stages of Aids was more than I could take. I could never, ever watch that movie again, just thinking of it makes me cry.

"The Way We Were". The ending just kills me.

And don't laugh - but "The Rare Breed". Watched this babysitting a 100 yrs ago and it STILL gets me when the bull dies and the baby calf is born. :rotfl:

Denise < --- incurable animal lover

The Joy Luck Club (crying just thinking of it!)

Sophie's Choice (The scene where Sophie is faced with her "choice" always does it for me)

Schindler's List (this movie, while a tearjerker, just plain wore me out. I lost it when the actual survivors came over the hill singing "Jerusalem of Gold" and placed rocks on Schindler's grave).

Dumbo (Baby Mine)

The Lion King (Circle of Life)

When Peggy Sue Got Married (DH still teases me about this movie, some 15 or so years since its release? We were in the theatre watching it, and I was just overcome with wrenching sobs. DH was shocked and I think a little bit scared. :p I couldn't help myself, when she goes back to her old bedroom and sees her long lost grandmother, omg, I am crying now just thinking of it)

To Kill A Mockingbird (when the Pastor says "stand up Scout, your father's passing" I get all bleary-eyed.....Atticus Finch reminds me so much of my own father, who was also a compassionate lawyer)

Driving Miss Daisy (When he feeds her that bite of pumpkin pie and her face lights up.....)

(gee, I guess I have seen more of these than I thought!)

Beaches (and really, just thinking about it is making me get misty right now!!)
Steel Magnolias
Gone With the Wind

I think this one would have to be a "cross-over hit." I get a warm fuzzy when Scout introduces Jeb to Boo Radley at the end.

And another scene that gets me: Atticus overhears Jem and Scout talking about their deceased mother. "Was Mama pretty? Did she love me? Did you love her? Do you miss her?"

So sweet.

Hmm..let's see..Chasing Amy, Love Actually, Romeo & Juiliet *the '97 version*, Jersey Girl - think all of these movies have a running theme? :p

Simon Burch (ugh, that was horrible)
Million Dollar Baby
Beaches
Steel Magnolias
Girl Interrupted (one of my faves) :)

The Color Purple
A League of Their Own
Prince of Tides
Buster and Billie

"Steel Magnolias" - when Sally Field goes to pick up her grandson after Shelby dies - and the funeral scene.. Tears my heart out every time..

"Pay It Forward" - definitely a 3-hankie..

"The Way We Were" - even the song makes me cry..

"Stepmom" - oh Lord, that restaurant scene where the two "Mom's" are discussing the daughter's wedding day.. I can barely breathe during that scene..

"Lassie Come Home" - the lump in my throat gets so big it's amazing I don't suffocate..

I found this quote from the movie, I had it backwards.

Scout: You can pet him, Mr. Arthur. He's asleep. Couldn't if he was awake, though; he wouldn't let you. Go ahead.

These three movies were the first ones that came to mind for me as well.

There was a made for TV movie on several years ago that I watched called Love Lives On (I think) It was probably one of the saddest movies I have ever seen. Don't think I could ever watch it twice.
