He's Going to Camp AND We're Still Going to Disney:) Update Dec 14 post #665

I hope IKE stays away from all of the DIS'ers. On CNN it looks like a terrible evening ahead for Texas. Prayers to everyone. I hope you faired okay this week. The Maritimes got hammered on this week, weather wise.
Once again you didn't disapoint with your pics. Splendid!!! I can only imagine what you could do with a better camera. Pooksma maybe a thought for Christmas? Always nice to stop by.;)

We were lucky here;a bit of rain but nothing major. Our excitement was coming across a guy breaking into cars at the pool. Called the police, but we haven't heard if they caught him.

We have already discussed the camera idea so you just never know. With another camera, the shot of Babs would be fabulous. :goodvibes

Nick Moss and the Flip Tops were very good on Friday night. (Answering a MeMom question from her thread. I guess this would be called cross-thread posting.) I did feel a bit sorry for them though. Buddy Guy (a blues legend for you non-blues fans) was playing to a packed house in another venue. I guess in all fairness this was the third show for Nick and his band.

The rest of day four and surprise Dis MEet coming up shortly.

Sounds like an interesting evening. Music and mayhem.

I'm looking forward to hearing about this accidental Dis meet with a famous podcast celebrity.

Sorry I have confused you, the criminal was last Sunday, the music was Friday night.

Working without a net tonight. I'm pet-sitting so I have no notes to go by. We'll have to see if I can remember everything.

Let's see.... We had went to a resort, looked around, had dinner, saw some people, went back to our resort.

Seems to be about right.

Goodnight all.

Ok, lets try again.

After some rest at CBR, we headed out by trusty WDW transport to AK, where we jumped on another long tube-like thing to carry us to AKL.

We were looking forward to our visit to AKL because it is a resort we would very much like to stay at. (If you recall dear friends, we had a close call last summer but eneded up elsewhere. It was something about construction.)

Got off the bus and walked up to the main entrance in into the lobby.

This place is amazing! We venture out to the viewing area to see what we could see.

We headed back inside because a major storm was about to hit. Found some more interesting pictures inside.

We strolled through the resort a bit and saw some great displays of masks and a few more viewing areas of a Savanah that was getting thoroughly drenched. We ended up out by the pool but it had been closed due to the weather.

Finally, it was time for Boma. We were seated at an ok table and our server explained everything for us and brought some drinks. Off we went to the buffet to find some new foods. (Sorry I didn't take any food pics...forgot) I tried a bit of most things but pooksma stuck to soup. Crab soup I think. It was very good but come on, we're on the dining plan here. (In all fairness, she was still feeling a bit under the weather.)

During our meal, we were keeping a lookout for some famous Disers. I had finished a couple of plates of great food and pooksma had a couple of bowls of soup, and then it happened, they walked by on the way to their table. Right away, pooksma and I looked at each other and said, "Was that them?" We had been watching for them for days (well a couple anyway) and it had finally happened.

In just a couple of minutes, they were walking by to the buffet and we quietly said, "Nicole?" She stopped and said yes, it's me. She called back her soon to be as famous brother David, and we chatted for a minute or so. Little did we know this would become a pattern for our trip. We would meet each other atleast two more times. :rotfl2:

After the excitement died down, we had some dessert, zebra domes ofcourse, and headed back to CBR for another night's sleep and maybe a little bit of Olympic coverage.

Night all.

LOL! Great recollection of the "event" wish it could have lasted longer but it was fun seeing you guys that night!

I hope you get to stay at AKL one day!! It was a great place to stay I really loved it!

Night all.

Yeah, that second try is much better.

The savannah pictures are nice.

Not sure how forgiving we can be on no Boma food pictures, though.

It's great that you saw Nicole and David.

Someday, I'm going to be at the firepit when the storyteller is there.

The two pool pictures really evoke memories for me. They really capture the exact feeling of a rainy Florida afternoon. When I lived in St. Pete, that was an almost everyday thing in the summer, and the atmosphere just takes on a color and feel all its own - very different than a rainy Tennessee day.

great update and pics and with a Nicole and David sighting. :woohoo:

AKL pictures!!! Just beautiful!

Love the recounting of meeting Nicole and David -- too funny that you kept running into them!

Wow! Great AKL shots! It looks incredible. Hopefully one day you'll be able to get there to stay for a few nights... and take even more beautiful pictures for us! :goodvibes

Great AKL photos! We need to go check AKL out sometime! We didn't take the time to go resort hopping on our last trip! I love to check out other resorts...and see where I might like to stay in the future! ;)

Thanks for the pictures of the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I need to add it to my list of must sees on my next trip. I have never ventured over to check it out.

I think David was hungry and didn't want to stand around talking to strangers. :rotfl2:

I'll try to make up for the lack of food pictures on an upcoming update that includes a trip to Le Cellier.

Thansk Scott. It was cool to finally get to meet them in person.

Thanks. We knew they were suppose to be at Boma sometime that night but we couldn't remember when.

Hopefully it could be as soon as next summer, although there is still a strong WL lobby.

This is the first trip we actually visited other resorts. IT does feel a bit like you are sneaking around at someone else's house. :rotfl:

It is a gorgeous spot. The lobby alone is truly amazing.

We love Boma. It was our first time there for dinner but have been there for breakfast. It was also fabulous. That fire pit area with the rocking chairs looks really great.

I have wanted to look at other resorts but I feel the same as you. It does feel like you are sortove sneaking around in someone elses house. I kindove feel that I don't deserve to be there since I didn't pay $$$ to stay there. Funny story, in 2004 we did go to AKL pool one afternoon for a swim (not knowing it wasn't okay to pool hop). No one ever said anything to us, but afterward I felt bad because I cheated. I know better now. Very nice pool. One day I'll be a guest at the Y&BC so I can go to Stormalong Bay. Which ever of the resorts has the Dragon pool, I want to go there too.
