Hi girls,

Have any of you had your dress not fit? I just found out that I am pregnant so we moved our wedding date up and the dress shop is saying it is too late for them to order a bigger size. My dress still doesn't come in for 10 weeks so I don't see why they can't do anything.

Do you think it is possible to let the dress out? I am so confused and the people at the store were no help, they didn't give me any options or anything. This is the one thing that I am so worried about. Should I call back and go Bridezilla on them?

TIA

Does your gown have a corset back? If not, you can probably have a seamstress take out a zipper and install a corset back with a modesty panel to give you some leeway.

my dress does not fit!! i'm dieting now to lose some for my first fitting on 26th july!! wedding is in 11 weeks

Ugggh, I am trying to be very careful of what I eat but as far as dieting I don't think that is too much of an option. I mean I will get round no matter what lol!

I just wish they were being more helpful.

Good idea about the corset back. My dress does not have one.

No suggestions, but Congratulations!

Thats crap! You should call them back!! It cost my parents an extra $250 but my bridal salon got my dress in 4 weeks for me and in the next size up! Call back!!!!!

Do you mind telling me where you got your dress at? We are in the same area! I bought mine from Alegria's on miracle mile!

I was hoping you would come along. This is so fristrating!

Mine was from Bellisima on Miracle Mile. What does the dress look like? There might be room for the seamstress to let some out, but if it's not here yet they can get you the bigger size! It's not good for you to be stressed out about stuff like this. They need to just do what you want.

I went to Alegria's too and almost bought my dress there but they were mean to me so I bought the same dress at Leggenda down the street. Good luck and I hope they work something out for you. Oh and congratulations on the baby most importantly.

How many weeks pregnant will you be Skylarr? Most first pregnancies do not really pop-out until quite far along - especially if you are in your first trimester and you are eating sensibly (or if you feel nauseated for a long time) you probably will not change shape that much!

How far along will you be on wedding day? I was MOH in my sister's wedding, ordered my dress in June (size 6!) and found out I was pregnant (with DD #2) in July.:scared1: The wedding was the first week of October and the dress still fit. Three weeks later, forget it!:rotfl: If it's your first it'll probably be a while before you're showing. You could always go with the corseted back option though if you're concerned.

Attention all Miracle Mile shoppers... I love 5 minutes from there and I will personally go in there and chew anyone out that won't help my fellow disbrides.... :lmao:

Any chance you speak Spanish too? Boy did I have a doozy of a time at my first fitting. I made the mistake of going by myself and apparently I do not know seamstress Spanish so I have no idea what I'm getting. I'm bringing my fmil next time but it's always good to know a backup.:goodvibes And Skylarr I'll join the beating up squad if you need one!

My dress was originally ordered in a size 8...fit me perfectly in November (pre-preg) when I ordered. Even with extreme morning sickness, the size 10 just barely zipped at 14 weeks pregnant when we got married. It is true you will not pop or have a bump until you are probably 20ish weeks but you will bloat. You are honestly probably going to need the next size up if your dress is not a corset back.

Johanna, if I would have known that a couple months ago, you would have been in my bridal salon throwing a temper tantrum for me a while ago! lol

Oh girl... I would have been in there in a heartbeat! I bought my BM dress at Alegria's and I went to battle! They were so difficult to work with (at least in my case)!

I worked part-time in a bridal salon for eight years and a dress can certainly be made bigger with NO problem, so don't let your salon fool you. They could probably even order it larger now with that many weeks left. I have seen the seamstress we had make a whole new back for a wedding gown and even put in new sides. If they continue to give you a hard time, let the dress come in and find another place to do the alterations! Good luck!

Thank you for all your help and supprt girls!

I am surprised so many of us live so close.

That's too bad to hear about Alegria's and the customer service issues. They still basically refuse to do anything. At this point I am going to call around to a few other bridal salons and see if they can get a dress in that quickly etc. and if they will work with me. I will just sell my dress on ebay when it comes in I suppose. The dress was reasonably priced but I bought a veil for the same price as the dress lol. I will keep the veil and make them refund me for the alterations that I ALREADY PAID FOR. That is what is frustrating. I have paid in full.

I will probably be about 20ish weeks along (we didn't want to get married in the heat of summer) our first doctors appointment is coming up soon.

Thanks again!
