We are planning a trip to Universal for the first time in Sept. Only going to be there for a weekend and am at a loss for how to go about hotels, etc. - I've got WDW down pat but I'm clueless about Universal. We are going for the "Rock the Universe" concerts so we will probably be in our room very little. Right now I am trying to book HRH. I called the number listed on Universal's site and got rates - we have AAA - the rates seemed reasonable but I have questions about what to book -

Best price was an obstructed view - is this really bad? - does it matter if you're not there much?

Also - we are traveling with 3 kids - I've read about people putting the 3rd child on an air mattress or getting a rollaway from the hotel - Are the rollaways uncomfortable? Also was offered a deluxe room with sleeper sofa but the rate was quite a bit more - should we do that though?

Last- I applied online today for the Lowes First card - can I use that in conjunction with my AAA card? Does it offer any other discounts on the room or is it just perks (milk and cookies)? If I call the Universal # for reservations, do I tell them I have the Lowes card or do I have to book directly with Lowes to get any benefits?

Whew! I think that's it:) I'm sure I'll have tons more questions about the parks, food, etc. Just hoping to start with the room ressie.

Thanks!!!!

hi and welcome to the neighborhood.

try and read some of the other new posts that area titled similiar to yours here and also in the resort/hotel forums.

you will gain a wealth of knowledge from what has been answered prior.

yes, aaa qualifies for the loews perks.
call the UO ressie clerk and let them know your loews number. it will be added to your files.
or you can tell the checkin clerk when you arrive at the hotel you have loews. they can put the number in your ressie when you chek in.
the perks?
welcome gift. you mentioned cookies and milk, daily paper, miles for travel but limited to the 3 choices in your loews profile, possible upgrade if available at time of check in, etc.
