We are planning to spend the day at DL next Friday. Could someone please lend a hand with a plan of attack? I need help with what rides to hit first and which ones to get a fast pass on. We are staying in Long Beach and plan to take the whole day at DL, 9AM-12PM....if we're still alive! Thanks so much!!!!! I'm so out of my element when not planning a WDW trip!

For the idiosyncracies of FP, see my FP thesis here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=885132

In general get FPs for things in the morning as time permits. Get FPs for Space Mtn, Indy, and Splash in the morning. And now Haunted Mansion. Use them in the afternoon or evening. Go to FantasyLand first thing in the morning. Do Peter Pan probably first ride. Also Alice In Wonderland, Mad Tea Party, etc. If you want to do Dumbo, do that second. If you want to do Astro Orbiter in TL, do that early as well. All the FL rides except Matterhorn are slow loading, with longer wait times later in the day.

We've used the Unofficial Guide trip plans with great success but then again, we also go off-season so I'm never sure whether it's the trip plan per se, or just the fact that we're there early in the morning off season. I would second Hydroguy's advice, most of the FL attractions are slow-loaders so get them out of the way and get fast-passes for the other things. Space Mountain is particularly popular right now with the re-opening, so I'd suggest sending one person over with the park passes to get fast passes for that (or ride it first and get a fast pass) then head over to FL.
