Hey, all. Planning my next trip for next November, and all this time to plan is making me want to really take the time to explore my options. On this trip, we'll be staying at a DVC suite, so we'll be doing a decent amount of meals at the resort, but we do also LOVE the food. EDIT: No DDP this trip, so not concerned about number of credits per meal.

The trip will be myself and DH (~30), DD (2), and my parents (~60). We love all food - upscale or simple, adventurous or rustic or anything in between - as long as it tastes great!

Anyway, I'm wanting to try some new restaurants this trip, and looking for feedback. These are the ADRs I'm thinking about looking at (*asterisks next to restaurants that are new to all of us)

Hoop-de-doo Musical Revue*
Artist Point (especially if they are starting up a character breakfast, like I've heard rumors about)
Geyser Point Bar & Grill* (I know this wouldn't require an ADR)
Tusker House*
Sci-fi Drive In*
Le Cellier Steakhouse (this was our all time favorite when it was 1 credit, but I think there are far better values for 2 credits, so we haven't been since they made the change. Without a dining plan this time, I'm excited to go back! Any thoughts on whether it's changed in the last decade?)

Hoop De Doo - daughter loved, DH hated and I thought it was just ok. I wouldn't go for the food - the entertainment/show is cute though!

Tusker House - only been for breakfast and we liked it. Nothing out of the ordinary/special about the buffet in comparison to the others. Wait time was about half an hour behind to get seated and character interaction is fun.

Sci-Fi - its usually on our must do list because we love to sit in the cars and watch clips of cheesy horror movies. Food is pretty good, never had a complaint.

Le Cellier - its on DH's must do list every time. I personally think there's better 2 pt steak restaurants, but food is good. I particularly really like the mushroom risotto when they have it.

Never been to the other 2. If your a fish eater, and your not going to Le Cellier because you'll be in Epcot anyway, I LOVED the Boathouse. DH got his steak and loved it, and I was in seafood heaven.

I've heard great things about the boathouse! That's in Disney Springs, right? I didn't have any meals planned for our half-day there but I might reconsider. It'd be lunchtime

We went for a noon lunch time, got there before the crowds came and it was WONDERFUL. Yes its in Disney Springs and not very far from where the buses drop off. :)

I would recommend Yachtsman over Le Cellier, they are significantly better steaks there, IMO. Plus it would give you a chance to try somewhere new (assuming you haven't already tried Yachtsman). And it's only a short walk from the back entrance in WS.

Everything else looks pretty good to me. Tusker House is probably mid pack as far as character meals for us, but if it's characters you're wanting on your AK day then it's definitely worthwhile. If you don't care whether you have characters or not, I would recommend checking out Yak & Yeti.

Love Yachtsman!! 2 factors into why I'm thinking Le Cellier this time - 1. No dining plan, and it's cheaper out of pocket than Yachtsman, and 2. DH has been to Yachtsman but never LC

What kind of food is Y&Y?

Y&Y is Asian. It was a pleasant surprise for us on one of our last trips.

I hear you on the LC being less expensive than Yachtsman, but I dream about that Yachtsman filet some days lol. Totally random, but Les Chef de France in EP was another surprise for us and I ended up enjoying it much more than anticipated. It's only a 1 credit meal so less out of pocket than LC.

Has anyone on the boards been to Geyser Point recently?
Going to be there in less than two weeks. Staying at WL, definitely planning a trip to Geyser Point, it didn’t exist the last time we stayed there. I will report back. Looking forward to it!

Oh awesome, let me know how it is!! The food and the view look amazing, and we're staying at Copper Creek @ WL on our next visit, so we'll be right there, too.

Had a great time at Hoop De Doo. Only time at Tusker House was when it first opened. First reservation of the day. Food wasn't out yet and it was cold when they did get it out. Figured it was leftovers from the day before. Never got any OJ or coffee and the characters didn't come over until we were ready to leave and then it was because we asked. They basically breezed by. Will never go back it was so awful. Just have no desire to give them another chance. Can't comment on any of the others.

Just a tiny hint. DVC doesn't have suites, only villas.

We love Hoop Dee Doo so much - we do it almost every trip. We also love Tusker House. Sci Fi is so much fun - it is such a different experience. I would do all of these three.

We love Tusker House! The food is excellent and different from other buffets. It has Indian food options that are still very accessible to the American palate.

Sci Fi has a really neat atmosphere. The food for our last 2 trips has been OK, nothing special in the least. I don't think anyone goes there for the food, but more of the setting and fun movie clips!

Thanks for sharing your experience! I definitely think we'd be going for lunch and not breakfast if that's where we choose
