Okay here's the deal. First we've always stayed in deluxes. We had a bad experience with mousekeeping and service at GF this time so DH decided to try a moderate (also in-laws are coming this trip and would never pay what we have paid for a deluxe).

We're going to stay for 10 or 11 nights at Disney then move on to four nights at HRH in Universal. In-laws are only staying 7 nights. Instead of APs (which we've always had) we're going to do the MYW package w/dining. DH can't resist the $100 a day dining for us!

Now here's the thing. We can stay at POR (all five of us me, DH, 2 dds and ds) and in-laws would have their own room. No problems with their staying 7 nights and our longer stay because they would be two separate rooms.

DH really wants to try CBR. We went over there in July to check it out (we've seen POR also) and he just really got a good feeling. In order to stay at CBR (since they only sleep 4) we would put one of the kids into in-laws room and when in-laws leave we would take over the second room. Hopefully it would be adjoining. Because of the package it will cost us $800 more to do it this way rather than POR. DH really wants to do this option. So tell me is CBR worth $800 more than POR.

I like the theming of both. CBR selling points to me are:larger rooms, beach and better boating options (we like the water mice). POR selling points to me are: Bob Jackson, carriage rides, better pool and cheaper price. What would you do? HELP!

I don't think you can go wrong with either one. We liked CBR for the reasons you mentioned. I didn't do Bob Jackson and after the first boat trip to DTD it got old.

I don't know if CBR is worth $800 difference though. I don't know how old your kids are but it might be nice to have your own room while the kids have theirs.

I agree - it's not worth the extra $800. Go with POR - you'll enjoy it. Plus you can use the pool at POFQ - gives a you a little more area to explore.

A minor point, and not exactly on your topic, but if you stay at CBR please ask for CONNECTING rooms, not adjoining rooms. Adjoining means they're merely next to each other, connecting means they have a door in between them so you can go between rooms without going outside. We did that with our in-laws and it was great, almost like having a suite!

Our kids are 5, 6 and 7. I think they might enjoy the beachy atmosphere more since we're big Jersey shore fans also. Its so difficult to choose. DH is really pushing for CBR and although $800 is a lot of money we spent more than that when we stayed in the deluxes. Two the of the kids would still sleep in our room and one in the in-laws room and then when the in-laws leave either DH or I would go in the other room with one of the kids. Does that make sense.

Good point on asking for connecting rooms. I would like to use some of the storage space in the second room also since I'm sure MIL and FIL wouldn't need all the space just for themselves.

ANy more helpful hints. How crowded would it really be in a POR trundle room?

If you are used to delux, I think you would be happier at CBR, have not been there , but from what you are asking it seems like space would be an issue. The only place to put the trundle bed in POR room is next to the door, which allows just enough room to open the door. We stayed there and loved it - but it was our first Disney trip and space or lack of it is something we are used to. If you are used to "more" go for CBR and be sure to get the connecting rooms.

Why would Disney decide to put the trundle bed option at a Resort with smaller rooms? CBR has the largest moderate rooms. Why not just put them there? :confused3

I've asked myself this a thousand times. Does anyone know the answer? Or why not change the room occupancy to five with the condition that you pay the rollaway bed fee?

Yikes that is a tough decision to make! On one hand the rooms at CBR are larger than those at POR. POR room may feel cramped and small after you in-laws leave (assuming that one child would sleep with them for the nights they are there), but it would only be for 3 or 4 nights, which would be doable. You might be better off staying at POR and then driving over to CBR or another resort to enjoy the water mice. If the money is no object I would just get two rooms at CBR if you will use more of the resorts amenities there?

I stayed in a trundle room and found it to be very nicely sized. For $800 less I think POR is the way to go. I just love that resort!!! :lovestruc Plus, you can go over to POFQ for a change of pace. POR has great quiet pools, too.

We have stayed at both and really prefer POR. We spent much more time waiting in lines at CBR: food court, busses etc. Plus we felt it was too spread out for our liking. DS preferred the pool at POR to that of CBR.

Another vote for Port Orleans. I know people who were not too happy with with CBR, but everyone I know personally liked PO. (I've been to PO as well. I think it is the best among the moderates.)

If money is not an issue I say CBR for a few reasons.
You are used to deluxes which provide you more room.
With 4 it would be pretty cozy and with the trudle bed too for 5-cramped.
More space for your things and eachother. Plus-better chance of relaxing or naps with two rooms.
It sounds as though you are really into the theme and look of CBR and I think you will really enjoy it! I don't care for PO at all and I have stayed at CBR and loved it!! :sunny:

We love POR and with 3 adults and 2 kids didn't feel at all cramped in there. We spent very little time in the room though. One thing that I love about POR is the peace and relaxed feel after a busy day at the park. The laid back southern charm is extremely well carried out at this resort. I must admit I can't compare the two since I've only stayed at POR. Also not previously mentioned the breakfast is in Boatwrights...fabulous!

We've stayed at POR, never CBR though. As far as the room being cramped with the trundle out, I didn't really think so. We left the trundle under the bed until it was bedtime. Then in the morning we put it back as soon as DD got up. Didn't create a space issue for us at all.

Personally, I would go with POR simply because of the $800 difference. But, if that doesn't really bother you, do CBR, sounds like that is where everyone really wants to stay!! ;)

The trundle bed doesn't have to stay out all the time. Only when you sleep so it shouldn't be too crowded in there during the day.

We stayed at POR last trip and will again this time because we liked it so much! Maybe you'd like the change of pace from the beach that you are used to, to a southern plantation where everything is just a little bit more relaxed.

Good luck in choosing!! :dancer:

...but we love the cbr too. keep in mind that some buildings at both resorts can be a hike to the central building/food court area. i think it really is a question of theming, as i really do not remember the cbr's rooms being that much bigger. both areas have wondeful landscaping. while the cbr does have a beach, you are not allowed to swim in the water. (bacteria issues). i thought you could rent water mice at por, but if you can't, you could always take the boat ride over to dtd and rent the mice there. i actually like the boat ride to dtd from por: its a nice change from the buses. the quiet pools are bigger, and the food court slightly better at por so its our favorite. one slight bonus at cbr is that you can see the higher illuminations/epcot fireworks, which are right across the street. its a nice walk from riverside to the french quarter, which has a different pool and more "cajun" items at the food court. we've had good luck with bus service at both resorts. i think you will enjoy either, but we really like por.

bumping for more opinions. Still having a hard time deciding and now DH has thrown another scenario into the mix - 7 nights w/dining at CBR (when in-laws are there) and then moving over to 4 nights (room only) at the Poly.
