HELP! I need your vote for the first ever Haunted Mansion sleepover!

Thanks BiolaBetty. I'm looking forward to following our adventures!!! Should be a blast!

Thanks all. I heard on the show today that there will most definitely be a webcam starting at midnight Pacific. You can see it at www.markandbrian.com. The boys were joking around that it will be a very boring webcam, just watching us sleep! They made a big deal over the fact NOTHING is going to happen and we should get an excellent night's sleep!

Yah, Right! I'm scared!

I'll try to get pix up on Wednesday. www.disneyjoe.wordpress.com

Here we go!

Hey Disboarders!!!!
Thanks for helping get us here. And thanks for all the posts on my blog. We're having a blast and with you were all here with us.

PS, If we don't survive, I leave my Year of a Million Dreams lanyard to BiolaBetty!

Just watching the webcam now. I enjoyed the "Grim Grinning Ghosts" singing to you. That was pretty cool!!:thumbsup2

I'm watching from Brooklyn, NY. Most people are getting up to go to work, but I'm watching! :thumbsup2

I checked in at 5:30 this morning when I got up. Doesn't look like they got much sleep last night! Can't wait to here the report!

Right. There were all kinds of 'distractions' all night long (including a choir of singing ghosts), and when they finally got to sleep, the 'ghosts' behind the scenes were trying to do more things to wake them back up, like loud scratching noises, etc., but they were out cold.:lmao::lmao: Anyway, they had to be out of the HM early this morning and I guess back over to the DLH.

I WISH we could get PhotoJoe to post some of his photos and experiences right here on the DIS, instead of only on the blog.:goodvibes

There is also a Disneyland historian named Stacia Martin on with Mark & Brian right now, live from the Dream Suite, and she is taking questions from callers as well as sharing her wealth of knowledge. She says that lots of folks have reported seeing Hidden Mickeys around the parks that the Imagineers have never put in, so "it's all in what you see." (Though I still tend to think they play with us a little, by putting in things that are Mickey-esque so that we will think they are real Hidden Mickeys, not to mention all the definite, 'unconfirmed' Hidden Mickeys we all have seen at times.)

Someone called in and asked Stacia if there are any future plans for the empty People Mover track, and she carefully avoided answering that question by just giving us a history of when the People Mover first opened and when it was removed and what replaced it - but she never actually answered if anything is going to be done with the track.

The insignia in Walt's tie/neckerchief in the Partners statue is a reference to the vacation ranch home he enjoyed in Palm Springs.

Just in case you all didn't watch the webcam footage of PhotoJoe and family in the the HM, the video clip footage of their night is starting to go up on the Mark and Brian site. So far, they have Part 1 and Part 3 up on the site (what happened to Part 2??), and they are planning to get all of it up by the end of the morning.

Here is the link to the video for Part #1 of the HM sleepover:

The ghosts even worked the Nightmare Before Christmas Halloween song into their 'act,' which I thought was an unexpected touch (a tip of the hat to Jack and crew, who will be taking over the mansion in just over 6 weeks)!

In addition to the ghosts singing for them, they also had few story times with the butler. They also got a few more sessions of serenading with a cool mix of stuff, and some ghost tauntings, as well as a middle of the night snack (a dead rat) delivered by the butler.

Something I thought was cool: Almost at the end of their stay, the ghosts and the butler came in with a tombstone with all of their names on it. During that visit they got more serenading. At the very end, they each received personalized (framed?) death certificates. (Nice touch!)

He set up the blog because he went to about 5 Disney-related message boards for vote support. Easier than updating every site that gave them votes I guess.

Oh, okay, that makes sense. Saves time that way.

Yes, those ghosts were quite entertaining. They were rather good at the three-part harmonizing, too! And they stayed in character, claiming to only sign autographs with "invisible ink," etc. I caught only one of the story times with the butler; haven't seen the others yet. Those death certificates are the ultimate souvenir - a very nice touch, indeed.

PhotoJoe and his family seem like a very nice, pleasant group of folks and I am glad they won the one and only night in the Haunted Mansion. They will go down in the history books now! And let's not forget that they also won a night in the DLH, which is nothing to sneeze at either. I would have been happy winning only the DLH stay, but the HM stay on top of it is just beyond imagination! I would have loved to ride through at a much slower pace to be able to really examine the details a bit more.

This whole thing was sooooo cool! popcorn::

I'd have loved to be have been able to experience it in person, but I am so grateful that there was a webcam, and that there were people on the ball enough to have recorded it and gotten it on YouTube!

Very cool for the family. As much as I would have loved to do this....it would have been wasted on us. My kids, at least my youngest, would have probably lasted about 10 minutes before being too scared to stay any longer. :-)

I swear one of the Hitchhiking ghosts (the tall one doing all the talking) sounds just like Maynard Smith, the famous CM who has worked at DLR for years. I wonder if there is anyway we can verify if he played a part?

I could have sat there and listened to the ghosts sing and the butler tell stories all night! That would have been so much fun to be there! I am so incredibly jealous!!!

Since I know you all survived, I guess that means I won't be getting what you left me. Oh well. We have been watching the recordings and I must admit I enjoyed when Cyndi reacted to the midnight snack.

OK, quick note here....

WOW, what a night. I have not done the recap yet, and I will gladly post pix, just please be patient with me. We had complete heart failure last night because none of our computers would recognize the card from the main camera we used. Spent 3 hours trying to figure it out, but finally got it. We THOUGHT we lost ALL of the HM pix! All is good, though!

BiolaBetty, there were some classics. Yes, the midnight snack was a tad rancid. There were a couple of other moments that scared the girls out of their wits.

I tried to sleep for two reasons. 1) I can say I slept in the HM! 2) I wanted to egg on the laughing spirits behind the wall!

The tombstone and the pencil sketch that Stacia made us will be delivered today. I'll take pix and get them posted.

Thank you all for helping us win this, but also for participating with us. Your interest and comments have made it so much fun!

I will definitely update my blog with as much detail as possible. All four of us will collaborate on it to bring in every gory detail, and hopefully we won't bore you to death. I'll cut and paste it over here, too and would love to answer any questions.

Stay tuned.....

I didn't watch all the footage but the haunted kids singing totally creeped me out!! Thanks for going to so much work for us. We're just so anxious!
