Help: All-day sickness!

Two decades ago they gave me cola syrup for the nausea. Saltines on the bedside table helped as well. Now, I'd try altoids. They settle my stomach faster than anything!

I'm right behind you... 8w3d today. I have the all day nausea and the only thing that seems to help is ginger ale and eating soon after getting up from bed. Saltines make it worse for me. Not having an empty or full stomach also helps.

I have to take synthroid first thing in the morning and can't eat for 30-60 minutes after taking it so I have started to take it when I get up to pee around 4am (another wonderful thing that came with the pregnancy) so that I can eat when I wake up around 7am.

Congrats & good luck! :goodvibes

First of all, congratulations!

I felt sick all day when I was pg with DS and the only thing that helped was nibbling on Haribo gummy grapefruit (the white ones, not the pink super sour ones). I just kept some in a baggie in my purse and took little nibbles throughout the day. Thankfully the sick feeling passed around 16 weeks. Good luck with feeling better!

Lime Popsicles. Made me feel a little better.

And lots of rest. I didn't have a problem with my first pregnancy or my third...just the second one. The difference I believe had to do with rest. Although I worked through the first pregnancy, I came home and could rest because there were no little ones to look after. With pregnancy 3, I didn't work outside of the home, so again I could rest when I needed to (and kids were 10 and 14 so they were helpful). With pregnancy#2, I worked and came home to DS3. I was sick almost all day. Actually felt best when I woke up for about 3 hours when I was not tired. So I would eat 2 breakfasts and that was about it for the day. I did this for 5 1/2 months (gained 5 lbs. by 6 months). Then the nausea gave way to back pain and heart burn.

Good luck! Hope you feel better.

Someone I know is expecting and she is very early into it. She has been so sick that her Dr is putting her on some kind of medicine that they give cancer patients. I don't know the name of it but I thought, wow. They didn't have or offer that when I was so sick with my babies.

I hope you are feeling better soon.

My OB suggested today that I take vitamin B6 (25mg) 3 times a day and unisom at night. He also suggested sea bands and anything with ginger. We are trying these for a few days and if nothing helps calling back for something else.

Lots of interesting things that seemed to have work for the people on this thread, but I have to say that after reading it, I feel kind of sick to my stomach myself now.. Ugh..

I could never, ever deal with nausea like that for days, weeks, or months on end...
:sick::sick::sick:

I sure hope the OP finds that one of these things will help..

I weighted 5 pounds less the day I gave birth to DD, than what I weighted when I got pregnant :scared1: I had the worst morning sickness for the first 7 months, but, I had a healthy baby girl due to eating the right food. Here is what worked for me:

Watermelon
Yogurt
Soup
Eggs, I know weird, but, I never got sick after eating eggs
Ice water, I would walk around with a mug filled with lots of ice and water and drink from it all day and it would help my stomach settle
And... beans, I know strange, but, I could eat a bean burrito everyday and not be sick :confused3

My best advice is to try different foods, until, you find the ones that helps you feel better

PS. I was also given Zofran, but, it made me very dizzy, but, if your DR prescribes it, you should try it, I hear it works for a lot of pregnant women.

First, congratulations on your baby!

I was another one who was sick for months. I will never remember waking up one Saturday morning and feeling well for the first time in weeks and weeks:cool1: I immediately ran out to do some shopping as I had not been in a store in weeks.:) It did come back, but that several hour reprieve really kept me going and gave me hope.

Really, the only thing that stopped that horrible feeling was sleep. I would lay on the couch every minute I wasn't at work and go to sleep. At least being pregnant I needed and craved lots of sleep. I would tell my hubby that i was leaving and will myself to sleep as long as possible.

But it did get better and by around 5 1/2 months I could finally enjoy life a bit again and look forward to the baby. It was great to deliver a pound less than when I got pregnant. Even after I wasn't feeling sick, my stomach was still not quite right and food just didn't appeal. But that I could live with.

Hang in there! You will get through this....try the tips the other ladies have given...never know what will work for you!

Congrats!!!

What helped me the most was Sea Bands. Also, candied ginger and ginger ale.

I got to where I would bring a shopping bag to work filled with all kinds of different snacks. My co-workers teased me, but it worked for me bc I never knew what would sound good from day to day.

I tried Zofran, but it really messed me up, so I quit taking it very quickly.

Good luck! Everybody's different, so I hope you figure out what works for you soon!
