Heigh-Ho, Heigh-Ho. It's off to the Grand Floridian We Go! (Update: TR Started)

That Dole Whip was phenomenal. Thanks so much for sharing Saturday night. And thanks to all for the nice comments. I think I have our contest all figured out now and a Group Text tonight for all the details and we will begin tomorrow (Tuesday, May 20th) at 5:30 pm. I have lots of prizes and will tell you what you are playing for each day (just in case you don't want to win a Pineapple Dole Whip Float at Magic Kingdom)
Mimi

I have been so busy, I finally had time to catch up! Loved all of your Disney Archive photos, none of mine came out that well. I will steal a couple of yours for my memories, ;). Of course I was using a point and shoot with no flash.

I am planning a trip back to visit the Archives with a good friend who is a Disney lover when we get back from our trip. So much to see!!!

I love all of the Adventureland decor! I seriously have no where to put it and it doesn't match my Disney current disney dishes and decor, but I want it all! :lmao: So cool! Can't wait to see how it all turns out!

I never even imagined you could make Dole Whip at home. How fun! Your Disney countdown is so exciting!

I'd love to go back to the Archives a second time. I hope you have fun :thumbsup2

:wave2: Hi! Joining in.

**love** the Adventureland Tiki decor!! I need to hunt down a few of these items for myself.

The Disney exhibit looked fantastic - I'm glad you all enjoyed it.

And can you say YUM! Dole Whips at home?? Umm... I need to place an order!

Can't wait to hear more about your trip! popcorn::

Hello Villainess. Glad to have you joining it :hippie:

I can't believe that we'll be arriving at WDW two weeks from tomorrow!

Your family sounds like so much fun. Looking forward to following your pre-trip report! I always love a challenge- the whole Elsa dress raffle sounded like fun :)

Oh my goodness! That is a great picture! Looks like he's trying to pull off a Rainbow Brite look! lolz.

That photo is awesome!! :thumbsup2 I need to dig around and see what old photos I have from Disney! The trips are getting so close!! I really hope you guys enjoy Grand Floridian, I can't wait to get there again!! If you guys decide to go to Animal Kingdom on the first part of the day on Friday the 13th, we may see you there! If not, I hope you guys have a fantastic trip!

Yes, Rainbow Bright Mickey! :rotfl2: I was thinking the same thing. This is from the old Odyssey restaurant in EPCOT. (The closed building that you pass on the left as you enter the World Showcase and head towards Mexico.) I guess that explains the costume. More of a futuristic space Mickey, I guess :cool1:

Here are a couple more:

oh my gosh! Those throw back photos are great!

Would be cool if they did like a "throw back Thursday" once a year in the parks and brought back all the old outfits and old attractions/restaurants (at least the ones they can)

Games to get everyone excited

So, I've been fairly quiet about the trip itself over the last week or two. But we are getting close now. We leave next Tuesday. YES!!! Less than one week away!! Yahoo!!

A couple of minor developments:

1.) On our trip down, we plan to spend two nights in Jacksonville so that we can have a beach day. Princess expressed interest in learning how to surf. I looked into it and found a surf school in Jacksonville Beach that's geared towards girls. http://swcsurfcamp.com So that should be fun!

2.) I received an email last night from Disney stating that they are adding a special Mark Hamill show on our Star Wars Weekends day (Saturday, the 7th). The FP+ becomes available this Friday at 8:00AM. I'll need to swap out the Stars of the Saga FP+ for this, but it'll be worth it. I'll be up bright and early, ready to try my Jedi mind tricks and hopefully lock in those FP's. I'm sure they'll go fast!

In the meantime, Disnemimi (my mom) started her nightly trivia session last week. It's been a LOT of fun, especially for the kids. So at 5:30 PM every day, she sends out an trivia question via iMessage/text to the group. (Everyone who is old enough to participate has at least an iPod/iPad with iMessage, so that works! Except for DW who is still lives in the dark ages with her old flip phone :rotfl:) The first two people to respond correctly get the prize. It's been a lot of fun and a great way to get everyone interacting before the trip. The group chat usually becomes a social hang out for a little while after the trivia with everyone chatting, kidding, sharing goofy pictures, etc.

This is such a great idea. My mom is the best! :cheer2: It sure has been a lot of fun texting with everyone in the evenings over the last week, it's going to be even more fun when we all get to hang out in person next week!

Your family is so much fun! And your Mom is the best! I hope you all have a great time!!!

Oooohh!! Fingers crossed for the Mark Hamill FP+! That would be awesome! :goodvibes

Seriously!!?? Those are great prizes!! And just so much fun! Your family is awesome!

And Tuesday?!! Sooo close, you'll be spending that souvenir certificate and eating that ice cream treat in no time!:cloud9:

GO, GO, MarbleBob. May the force be with you Friday morning. Thanks for taking care of this. You are right about having to give up the Stars of the Saga show, but who knows, maybe we can do standby. I agree, this Mark Hamill program is probably once in a lifetime (for us anyway!)

Thanks for all the kind words about my Disney contest with the family. It has been so fun getting questions and especially finding which prizes to award. I hope I can get my real "Disney Dollars" at the resort when we check in to award all the runners-up on each day's question. Gotta love my social security checks to fund all the prizes. :rotfl2:
