Heath Ledger's funeral to be protested

by the Westboro Baptist Church , the same group that pickets the funerals of American soldiers who have died in the Iraqi war. Why do they care about Heath Ledger you ask? Well, he played a gay character.... Guess they don't get the concept of acting .

“You cannot live in defiance of God. He (Ledger) got on that big screen with a big, fat message: God is a liar and it's OK to be gay,” said Shirley Phelps in a statement sent out by the Topeka, Kan.-based Westboro Baptist Church.

They're not going to the actual funeral, just the memorial service in the States.

I doubt they have the balls to go somewhere outside the US to do this crap -- they need to stay within the borders where they can hide behind the First Amendment.

Did any of you see the documentary? These people are scary. The teenagers couldn't understand why kids at school hated them just because they told them the truth about them going to hell! And they were happy that everyone else in the world was going to hell! What kind of Christian message is that? They had little kids calling people fags and dykes, and then got upset when one of them was hit with something by a passing motorist (I did feel very sorry for the little ones though). And the grandfather/pastor was cursing from the pulpit! And the signs they tote......you just have to see them!

I just had to join in here-that documentary has been haunting me for weeks!

I wonder if it will be a very private memorial service. You know you can hire all sorts of people to do these types of things (security and the like).... I hope they are able to keep these people at bay...

And you are right about the First Amendment, it protects those who sometimes do not deserve it's protection...

They are supposed to be protesting outside one of the Marine Corps bases out here (was supposed to be last weekend but didn't get the paper work in in time so they are saying this weekend). They are gonna be protesting saying that God hates Marines
They must be THAT stupid to do that in a large miltary town.

I wish I could go down to join the silent protest against them, but don't have a sitter for the kids.
