Hi All,

DD, DS and I were shopping at WalMart yesterday and decided to look into getting portable CD players for them. At first we picked up the Pioneer brand which was $40. Then we noticed another brand that was far cheaper. It's called Durabrand. Never having heard of this brand before I was a bit skeptical but I took one up to the register and asked the gentleman there what he thought of them. He had some good points (higher Pioneer (and others) cost is partially because of the name recognition, Durabrand is new so they can't charge as much as the better known names, so far he's not seen any of the Durabrands returned, etc.) so we decided to try them out. Well...they are great! Sound quality is excellent and the features are comparable to higher priced models.

So, instead of paying $40 for each player we paid $20. I just though some of the DISers here might like to know that this brand is decent and a great bargain.

Thanks for the heads up! Ive been in the market for one for awhile :) Ill check it out.

I've never heard of Durabrand. Sometimes, electronics "off-brands" are actually made by major manufacturers. I worked at Radio Shack a while back, and I was told that Pioneer made our car stereos, but just put a Radio Shack label on them. Also, Energizer makes Radio Shack batteries. Every once in awhile, we'd find a pack with a lone, energizer-branded battery in with the Radio Shack ones.

So who really knows what you bought!
